Callahans adjustments BLAH BLAH BLAH

OMFG, this is as bad as the Pedersen out and Should Frank have been fired, threads.

It is one thing if we want to meet at a bar, shoot some pool, drink some beers, and have a good old fashioned argument just to argue.

However, to continuously bring up his lack of adjustments is assenine. You that do simply will not look at or concede to the truth. You wear "husker red colored" glasses and cant see past the end of your nose. You can take all the rankings and throw them out the window. WE SIMPLY WERE NOT A VERY GOOD PASSING TEAM. We made adjustments but so did the other teams. Every second half the other team said hey " Stop the run, Stop the run, Stop the run" make Taylor beat us through the air. And guess what............... Taylor and our passing game wasnt good enough. Taylor, (God Love Him for what he did for us) just isnt that good. His arm strength is avg, his mobility is non-existent, his pass-pro suspect, and his overall talent at WR lacking. THIS IS THE PROBLEM, THE COMPLAINERS CANT ACCEPT THAT TAYLOR ISNT THAT GOOD, THEY VIEW HIM AS A SUPERSTAR. If they would ever just look at the situation from a neutral standpoint i believe this whole bizarre rant would leave us forever.

You b!^@h about lack of adjustments, but what is he supposed to do when the opposite team takes away one aspect of your game and the other aspect of your game is not good enough to get the job done.

If, next year, we have the same struggles then we can complain. Next year when we have better WR, a Better Line, as good as if not Better RB, and a QB that is head and shoulders above the previous QB, I dont think you will see these struggles.

I hope this is just the Off-Season blues and people are on here complaining just to have something to do, because if these complaints are really issues with the said individuals then our Fan Base as a Whole is not nearly as knowledgeable as i once believed.

For those of you that this rant doesnt apply to, sorry that you have to read it, but for those it does, get the facts and learn the reasons behind the things you have a problem with before coming on here and making one outlandish statement after another.

The "facts" according to whom? You? :)

According to a lot of people with a lot of football knowledge. I am not smart enough to figure this out on my own.

you are one of the "husker red colored" glasses people. Im not gonna argue with you. In fact arguing with you is impossible. you think what you want and ill think what i want, simple enough.

I think next year is gonna be great, we will be much better and continue to get better. I think a NC game is in the near future and that our program will be back in ELITE status after next year.

If you want to think differently fine, but thinking the worst makes you, in my opinion, THE PROBLEM

Lando;

Man, you are way far off the mark. When have I ever suggested that the Huskers will have a bad year next season, or, as you say, thought the worst? My heart is always full of optimism that the next snap will go the Huskers way. Always.

Hmmmm.... Don't know about adjustments. Yeah we probably could do a ton better in that department when I go back and think of 2nd half struggles last yr.

I think the bottom line though is points.... you know scoreboard. We simply need to be scoring more. If you check the scoreboard last season... something marvelous occurred everytime we scored 30 points or more. So IMO there is your goal. Coming to the field every Saturday ready to explode for at least 30. I like the 5 td a game theory. We aint sastisfied as a team unless we scored 5 that day. And I don't care how ya do it. Pounding the rock or airing it out. Heck add in sp teams and defense too. And you need to do it all season long too, not just vs the cream puffs.

Go and check the top ranked teams in the country. Many of them avg over 30pts and in conf play too. If you take off the pre conf play patsies we faced last yr... we were short of 30, slightly better than the yr before. Add em in and we are around 30. Raised that in conf play.... we got it going on me thinks.

As for Taylor... wasn't he Conf player of the yr? Need we say more?

He certainly was, and it was deserved, i only hope Taylor is an honest and upstanding person. If he is then he will let Cally keep the award on his mantel about 9 months out of the year, because Cally's SCHEMES AND OFFENSE, are what won the award for Taylor.

And Yes, 30+pts per game will equal a lot of victories, even with coz

Wow Cally is good, He turned an avg player into Big 12 offensive player of the year. Just imagine what he will do with a truly talented QB

Please refrain from using rational thought, facts or statistices. It only confuses some more and causes them to become more conviced that the sky is falling.

You know sometimes schemes, and talent only go so far.

I believe we were one play away from being a one loss team and playing in the BCS game.

Is that to optimistic? Maybe but I hold a lot of stalk in a teams belief in their ability and if they have the killer instinct.

As much as you have to coach fundamentals you must also coach the mental aspect of the team.

I truly think we have the talent to play with anybody, one or two positions aside.

IMO if we beat TexASS the players would have cleared that last hurdle.

Sometimes a win like that is all that is needed for a program to turn it around.

Forget us as fans, and even the boosters, the first people that need to believe in a system is the players.

If they don't, it really doesn't matter what system you run or the talent you recruit.

Just my .02

landonhusker, thanks for a really good post. A lot you said makes sense. I guess I'm still in neutral with B.C. He's a mystery to me as Tom Shatel has said. Is he not a good coach? Is he a good coach? Is he a very good coach? Is he a great coach? My honest feeling right now is I plain don't know. Hopefully it is the latter. We shall see, won't we.

Zac's passing stats - 233/391 3197yds 26TDs 8INTS Earned Big 12 POY honors. Yeah, Zac sucked! We were fourth in the B12 in passing and 6th in Rushing. Right....our passing game sucked, too. Coaches tried every week to exploit the other team's weaknesses....we didn't run because we thought that our passing game sucked.

You say that it is impossible to argue with the ""husker red colored" glasses', but it is completely impossible to argue with someone who believes that he holds onto "the truth" when, in actuality, he is full of sh#t.

Peace -

If you think Zach Taylors numbers were due in large part to him and his wonderful athletic brilliance as opposed to the schemes and offense put in by Callahan, ur foolish.

If Mr. Taylor was so damn good there would be talk about him and the NFL, but as it stands now he will be lucky to get drafted and to even make a roster.

Scouts, not me, say he cant run, he doesnt have a good enough arm to make the necessary throws.

Keller can do both.

Oklahoma, Taylor had to throw, he was awful. Texas not so good, Auburn just as bad.

We were sixth in rushing because they geared up to stop our run. We were fourth in passing because we threw so much.

There is no point in arguing. You are going to skew all thoughts, rationale, and stats to side with you and that is fine its your opinion.

Mine is different, i dont think Taylor was very good, and next year you will see a whole different offense without the second half struggles. When that happens you can come on here and say YES Cally learned how to coach and I CAN SAY, YES see what happens when you have a good QB, it will never be settled.

Finally i think you are closer to being full of $hit than me.

Love ya though, after all you are a Husker Fan

i agree, Taylor was a bit better than average (been so long since we had ANYONE who threw so much, i think he seemed better than he was)

but, he never did shine in our big games, although what he did in the Big 12 was paramount to our success, therefore he garners the award.

nice guy, tough guy, limited ability. will always appreciate what he did for us, but not a true NFL prospect.

What's this thread about? Taylor not being very good? Callahan being a play-calling genius?

Just my opinion here, and I promise if anybody doesn't agree I won't say you're full of poo or anything else. But Taylor did win us some games and was a reason we lost some games. If you look back to A&M, HE was the person that drove us down field and lofted a perfect pass to Purify for the game winner. That drive was awesome, for Husker fans and for Zac. On the other hand, he didn't help us in the OU game (his arm strength contributed to 2 INT's), but if Purify doesn't fumble it could have been a different game. If you go back and look at the game, they took the flat away from Mo and blanketed a safety over the top, virtually taking him out of the game. And he was really our only weapon, as much as I like Swift, Nunn, etc..they're not the same caliber as Mo. Auburn did a lot of the same stuff. The problem was that there's nobody else that garners any attention in our WR corps.

Another thing we can't blame Zac for is the pass protection. He did a great job only throwing 8 INT's, and laid it on the line with his SCARY scrambling (non) abilities many times. But our line was still pretty weak last year, though they did improve in run-blocking. Also not having a threat at TE to stretch the D didn't help.

Thinking Zac's not good is foolish. He did more with less physical abilities than most people ever could. And I think the greatest asset Zac had was his heart.

yup and if Keller doesn't live up to expectations will it be the fault of the receivers and the O line or will it be due to his lack of ability? Keller has a proven arm, has thrown well and not so well against some very good competiton. against the good teams, Zac couldn't get it done and some of that was on him. Keller will have basically the same guys in their this season, let's see what he can do.
