What did we learn Rutgers edition

Raiola seemed to lose confidence in the OL. Earlier this year we were talking about his poise in the pocket, but today he was taking some pretty deep drops, and taking some sacks along with them.

There’s volumes we can post that are opportunities to improve.

We won a one score game today.

Huge.

I think Rutgers was hoping we'd sell out to stop the run against Monangai. When we didn't, their game plan just went to s*** in the first half.

They missed a field goal that the wind caught (still their kicker's fault for not adjusting for that), and then they had a gimme touchdown pass that their receiver let bounce off of him.

I'm super grateful for the win. I'm so glad that we didn't blow a two touchdown halftime lead. But our staff has to figure out how to be better on 1st down against Indiana or we're not going to win that one.

1. Alabama

4. Tennessee - still on but ARK just went up.

10. Michigan

11. USC

All lose to teams on Rutgers’ level, one of them by a team who lost to Rutgers just last week. A win today by our Huskers is a good thing! Go to bed happy, please!

I'm seriously not trying to be a d*** at all: I can't tell which was the play of the game:

  • Buschini's punt late in the 4th quarter.
  • The tackle on their guy on the blocked punt that kept him out of the end zone.

What an ugly game this was, lol.

you summarized my state of mind more eloquently than i did. pumped we're 5-1 but it feels like our offense is regressing, tremendously.  Sloppiness and lack of execution still runs deep in this progrum.  There are too many talented skill players available to leverage with a qb like raiola for us to be struggling this much.  It goes well beyond DR foot mechanics:

1. we continue to call these plays for fidone that are behind or at the LOS and having him outrun guys to the flat- y is he not featured in more posts, outs, delayed routes- he's a monster of a human, yet we are calling plays that should be ran for the likes of barney.

2. We've abandoned the short to medium passing game.  We are over indexing on either horizontal quick hits or deep route combos that take time to develop.  We have size and speed talent- where are the slants, quick ins, west coast type throws that attack 8-15 yards downfield.

3.  The tone was set in the first series with satt calling a read option run play on 3rd and 11 that was stuffed... we're at home, stadium is buzzing and that play call just let the air out unnecessarily from the get go.

4.  I have no idea what the stats say but I'd venture a guess our offense is ranked 115+ in the nation in 2nd half stats.  Whatever we are doing at half needs to be seriously reevaluated.
I agree with everything you stated here.  Well put!
