It's just a hot take. And I got it out of my system in one post, whether I am wrong or half way right.
Should we fire Satterfield??

I am still for firing Satt, his best O was 2022 with USC (last year). He averages at his 8 seasons and 3 stops is 87th. No bueno.
As far passing routes, Raiola needs some work, but he's a true fresh, play calling not the greatest and no real RB1 doesn't help. The whole running opens the passing game vs passing opens the running game argument....Raiola is the least of my concerns.
@Mavric posted some good stats ref Raiola. He was 10% against OSU on routes of 10+ yards.....That's horrible. I mean like sh!tty bad. Short routes, outs, slants, hitch, etc...need to be our go to routes. Used some yesterday. I'd like that to be more of our identity. Power run game (need a RB who can get YAC) and catch and run passing attacking. This could open up some hitch and go routes and still allow us to attack down field. I'd scrap the screens as receivers don't/won't/can't block.....1 on 3 defenders won't work. You'd think that Banks and Neyor as big s they are would be able to blow up DB's. Unfortunately, they seem to either miss, PI, or block in the back. A recipe for disaster.
Ultimately I blame Satt for not utilizing plays that our players can effectively run and execute. Unsure our "bread and butter" play. I blame the OC/WR/HC for not correcting players and allowing them to continually fail in the aspect of blocking. Also not getting separation is an issue. I do think that in a shorter passing game, Raiola will have to have a quick trigger to not allow the defender to recover on a break to get back to the receiver. Deeper routes and our lack of top end speed, IMHO, make it easier for the DB's to recover. Might be the reason for the 10% completion rate mentioned above.
Raiola also looked serviceable in the run/scramble category going 6/42. On that goal line stand, he's in on a bootleg all day long. I'd like to see him run more tbh.

Your friend sounds like a nice guy
You will notice a nice play or positive gain by the players on the field, called by the OC. We can credit the players and the coaching call.
But sometimes, another good play is called by the OC, but this time a RB or WR misses a block. So it doesn't work.
Or maybe the QB throws a bad pass, even though he is good enough to throw the same pass perfectly in practice every time. But in the game it doesn't work.
There are 8 games already played that can be reviewed for pure enjoyment. Or seeing details and the little things that can make a play good, or bad.

We are way better with Raiola. No doubt. He’s just going to keep getting better.
I hate the way he acts on the field. Runs out by himself in front of the team. Doesn’t stand with the team during breaks. The attempts at being stone faced.
I don’t care as long as he performs, but I think he acts like a douche and so do many of my non Nebraska fans friends around the country that watch a lot of football.

I think you mean we have way more potential with Raiola. The fact is our offense is just as bad at scoring points vs big ten competition as last year without him

Please tell me you are not pointing last year's problems on Satt.Actually we have 20 games with Satterfield as our OC. Sims, Haarberg, Purdy.
No Rahmir or Gabe.
A few starting lineman got injured.
Starting WR Washington and Castenada missed the season.
You can still make your argument against Satt for this year and I will gladly listen and can take you seriously. Bringing up last year and all bets are off.

Pretty sure he still got paid 1.5 million to win games last year? Good coaches figure out a way to succeed.
But thank you for pointing out all the deficiencies it actually makes the case for how bad Satt is. Those problems are gone, brought in 5 star QB, bunch of transfer skill talent, transfer OL. Yet his offensive results remain the same. Also we had about 1000 turnovers last year and not doing that this year.
Same results at his other stops. Had a future NFL QB at USC. YET still had the same results.
So the point is it doesn’t matter who he has. He manages to squander whatever he has to be about the 87th ranked scoring offense.

Big picture for me is we have a great opportunity with Rhule still being able to sell to recruits we are building something. Got the 5 star QB. Win another 2 games to get to 7. Which the way we played vs Ohio state no reason we couldn’t win the last 4 if the team shows up every week. But win a few games and recruiting gets a lot easier this off season.
My concern is with Satt around he will keep our offense mediocre and Rhule will keep him around 1-2 years too long and Raiola goes pro and we miss an opportunity for a magical season and to greatly flip our program. A playoff run and huge increase in recruiting success should be possible if this staff can recruit and coach good enough.

@Huskers93-97 Well we have 4-5 more games left to play, so you will have plenty of fuel in the tank.
29 pages of Fire Satt and repeating yourself isn't enough apparently.
I recommend you pace yourself whether the Staff makes a change with Satterfield at the end of the year or not. Maybe repeat your takes once or twice a week instead of daily and nightly. Just a suggestion though.

I guess, but not really. If we are doing the stat thing I suppose it's hard to argue, but I just don't see it that way. You're always going to find a stat/metric that fits a narrative. I think the offense is significantly better with him. Certainly not great, but we've been trash for years.
