Should we fire Satterfield??

Basically, we need to find a great young OC who can identify talent and know the caliber of player he needs to run his offense.  Someone who might become the next HC if they prove themselves as an OC.  They are out there.  Arizona St took a chance on a young guy, who did play at ASU, but he take that chance.

Again, there are no excuses for not winning 6 games in year one or year two.  The portal and NIL should at least prevent a program like this from ever not making a bowl game.  Bowl games should be locks.

Right on, yes.  Also, the Big Bother for me is the lack of development (or backward development) of the fine players we have.  What the heck is going on?  Is this another coach/staff who comes here and can't connect with the players enough to bring them forward into consistency skill wise?  I think there's something good there, as we've seen good changes in a few areas, such as not turning the ball over via fumbles.  .... That's the only something good I can think of right now.

I don’t even think we need a young guy. We have the money to get someone with a track record.  Saban completely changed Bama offensively by bringing in names that weren’t ready to be hc at the time but previously displayed great chops calling an offense.

we obviously aren’t Bama but we sure as hell shouldn’t be a training ground for guys who have either never coached or displayed anything above mediocrity. Our whole offensive staff would qualify in one of these buckets, if not both

This is why I tend to think that if Rhule loses out, we have to at least give him a hard look at removing.  The whole staff needs to go if we lose out.  When that happens, your team has quit on your.  We have seen this before.  Once your team stops buying in, your not winning.  I think we need to find that up and comer even if in lower division, and get some fresh air in this program.  I would rather have a young head coach and give him time to get things corrected than these veteran coaches WHO SHOULD KNOW HOW TO REBUILD A ROSTER IN SHORT TURNAROUND win games.  With the portal and NIL, Rhule has no excuses for not making a bowl game.  I don't think he can identify talent.  I don't think he can sell this program to other recruits and portal players.  Every season 4 and 5 star players are in the transfer portal and end up going where ever they can get a chance to prove themselves.  Money is one thing, but winning is another.  If you are winning games and making your players shine on national tv, that's all some of these guys are looking for.  When you keep embarrassing yourself and program with inept play calling and poor execution, players see that too!
I couldn't agree with you more.  I would have been pleased to see the Huskers go 8-4 but that's wishful thinking on my part for the season.  It doesn't help when your not getting any production from the wr's and running backs.  I have tried to be positive and have hope but Nebraska has showed me with the hires they have made and the people they put in charge with position coaches that the end product at the end of the day is trash.  I don't understand how we have all fall and spring and summer to get better with special teams and we are one of the worst in the country.  Its one thing after another in every category every year.  What are we paying these coaches for?  Bc it certainly isn't development or improvement.  We are paying them to be wasted space on the sidelines.

I'll sum it up to save folk time.  Basically in the top 13 highest paid in dead last in every category.....Dude should never have been hired.  It's that simple.  Worth the look.  He's bad.

We are very much in a Scott Frost 2.0 situation here.  Frost went all in on a QB and a concept and the hole was too big to get out of.

Rhule is going to have to make changes or this is over.

Every year I read this exact quote.  We hav money go and get someone with credentials.  We have not gotten those guys here yet.  SOOOOOOO I don't think they want to come here!

We need Bo Pelini 2.0 to arrive here once again.  We need some excitement put back into this joint.  Simple.  We can not attract a bigger name than Rhule actually was.  We can't.  Stop yourself from thinking that way.  Stop.  Urban Meyer won't come here.  Saban won't come here.  The issue is guys like Rhule have climbed too the top and made their money and now don't feel as if they have to prove themselves anymore.  I say, that's wrong, and he should prove himself even more now.  I think he cares and has put in some effort, but not the same effort he put into Temple and Baylor in his first few years.  Urban Meyer once was an assistant waiting for a chance.  Saban once was an assistant waiting for his chance.  Tom O was an assistant before he was the man.  Stop hiring some others trash.  We seem like a charity case for lost and found coaches.

Ya the important part doesn't show unless you click on it. Satterfield is tied for 8th highest paid OC in the nation. Pitiful. If you're going to bring in your friend to be OC, and he doesn't have a proven track record, he shouldn't get paid that much. And I'm sure he would have settled for less. The AD shouldn't have let that happen. He was only paid $900,000 at SC. I suppose Rhule could've said he wasn't coming unless he got that, but then we should have hired a different coach.

I'm more confused than I am mad at this point. You kind of just come to expect this kind of bulls*** as a 'skers fan.

I am just really confused at the staff turning us into something that looks way more like a spread offense down the stretch of this season than the 49ers' scheme. Referencing of course Rhule talking about how much he liked what the Niners do on offense this past offseason.

I understand that on paper, Raiola is the kind of QB that would in theory be perfect for the "line up with 3 or 4 guys wide and toss it around the yard" kind of scheme. But Rhule had specifically said since stepping foot on campus that he wasn't going to do that.

Hard to say what's going through Satterfield's mind. I assume it's something along these lines, though:

Adjusting sacs and scrambles to passing yards, yesterday we had (I think) 40 pass plays for 209 yards and 33 run plays for 113 yards.

That's 5.2 yards per passing play and 3.4 yards per running play.  Even with a QB who struggles and WRs who struggle to get open we are still significantly better moving the ball through the air.

We do not run the ball well.  We are not good at what Rhule says he wants to do.

Why do people want to insist that we should be doing that more?

This may actually come true if he were a sophomore junior or senior but he’s a damn true freshman and they want him playing and making decisions like a redshirt junior.  Satt’s a moron for thinking this way and Rhule is a moron for allowing him to think this way.
