Should we fire Satterfield??

Again, I would rather have the right play call with the right players in the game...they were at the UCLA 45 with a minute left.  That is a ton of time.

With that said, I totally get wanting to have more time.  I just don't think it was a huge issue.
i don’t disagree with you on the right play part, I think what drove me most crazy was not hiking it in the 15-22 second range. Too Often we were slow to get the formation lined up and wasted precious time. I would like to hope this team has 10-15 plays drawn up for late game scenarios given how often we are in these types of games- based off what I saw yesterday, it doesn’t seem like we do.

I used to think that Satt, or whoever is in the QB headset and relaying the play in or on the sideline when defense is on the field, wasn’t being very direct with DR on where the ball should be going.

But now I am wondering if Satt is filling DR’s ears with so much Bulls#!t pre-play up to that 15second mark that DR is utterly confused once the play actually happens.   To your point, I would like to see NU have more urgency in between snaps and maybe even a few series go quick huddle/bo huddle up tempo so the offense can just play.

this was a pretty good read- a bit drastic, but brings up a great point. At what point is satt’s incompetence impacting more than just this season. We have a generational talent at qb to work with and a complete clown in charge of how it’s playing out

I didn't really think about this, but I think the reason we run the play clock so low is because you're right. Satterfield is communicating with our QB right up until the last moment, where Dylan then checks reads/changes the play/changes protection and suddenly the playclock is at 5 seconds. It would certainly explain the complete lack of urgency down two scores and driving on the UCLA side of the field midway through the 4th quarter.

As for the topic, I called for Satterfield to be fired last season because I thought it was evident that he completely lacked the macro-strategy of Football, fails to understand situations, and seemingly calls wasted plays that serve no purpose. His play designs are sometimes acceptable, but the how and why he calls certain plays is mind numbingly bad in his worst moments.

I think he’s dead on.  Kind of cuts through the crap and calls it like it is.

I thought that was a great article and not too drastic at all.   There has to be a sense or urgency and sense of responsibility and quit with the coddling nature of his.   He needs to quit with the fragile mental nature he is bringing to the table and get on board with the winning is important and EVERYONE needs to be held accountable for not progressing to goal of a winning program.   That certainly applies to coaches first and foremost.  Then to players.   Buy in and be held to account or get out.

And far too often Nebraska lacks in holding coaches accountable until its too late.  Got to stop the bleeding when you first see blood not try to put bandages on it so the blood leaks through.

The reporters to to ask these question and unleash hell on Rhule in the pressers.  No more cliche BS. Ask the hard questions...

I guess we now know why Satt wasn't good enough to be Rhule's OC at Baylor or Carolina, just wonder why Rhule thought he was good enough to be the OC at Nebraska.

Bc at the time Rhule had been out of the college game and didn't have anybody else.  We hired him right after he got fired from Carolina pretty much.  Just think that Nebraska would have been better suited going for a up and comer head coach or someone who is established with tons of cash.

Rhule could have hired someone based off resume rather than relationship. Coaches do that all the time.

True but not really here.  Tony White good example.  Not many coaches are going to put their hands in a coach that has been out of the college football game and they don't know unless they believe in their own abilities to succeed.  Few and far between I say.

Got to believe there's a talented OC willing to take that risk for $1.4 mil. a year

Not if the team is a hot mess.  I understand the thinking but no coach wants to come to a program in case the head coach is on the hot seat which I do believe Rhule is.
This is why I tend to think that if Rhule loses out, we have to at least give him a hard look at removing.  The whole staff needs to go if we lose out.  When that happens, your team has quit on your.  We have seen this before.  Once your team stops buying in, your not winning.  I think we need to find that up and comer even if in lower division, and get some fresh air in this program.  I would rather have a young head coach and give him time to get things corrected than these veteran coaches WHO SHOULD KNOW HOW TO REBUILD A ROSTER IN SHORT TURNAROUND win games.  With the portal and NIL, Rhule has no excuses for not making a bowl game.  I don't think he can identify talent.  I don't think he can sell this program to other recruits and portal players.  Every season 4 and 5 star players are in the transfer portal and end up going where ever they can get a chance to prove themselves.  Money is one thing, but winning is another.  If you are winning games and making your players shine on national tv, that's all some of these guys are looking for.  When you keep embarrassing yourself and program with inept play calling and poor execution, players see that too!
