White proved himself last year with the D but has been bad this year in a few games, Satt has done the exact same this year as he did last year.  If that's not a difference in the 2 I don't know what to tell you.  Just because you have more years doesn't make you the better hire either.

I don't think number of years as a coordinator counts as a better overall resume. White hasn't been a coordinator as long, but he turned the Syracuse defense from terrible to respectable. Satterfield's offenses topped out as slightly below average, even when winning with Rhule at Temple/Baylor. I was willing to chalk that up to Rhule's style suppressing the raw numbers, but at some point as a coordinator you are what the numbers say.

He was discussing the original hire, not the progression (or regression) over 2 years.  I just find it really hard to Monday morning QB the Satt hire without it being a complete failure on Rhules part (which it turned out to be) but it could have just as easily gone the other way.  It wasn't as though the guy was completely unqualified, and Rhule had worked w/ him for years in the past.

The major difference is white made an immediate positive effect to our defense.  Satt was under fire due to the s#!t show he’s been displaying week after week

If rumors are to be believed, when Rhule was talking to Holgorsen about a role last off-season, one sticking point was that Holgo didn't want a 'Co-' on his title. I assume that he'll be sole OC going forward. If Satterfield & Thomas stick around, they'll probably get titles like Assistant/Associate HC. White already has Associate HC as one of his titles.

In the event that this doesn't result in an immediate improvement this season, I hope people don't immediately jump to sky is falling moaning about it.

It might be the boost we need this year, or it might be a savvy long term play that will pay dividends next year. Or it might just not work at all regardless.

Agree - if nothing else it solidifies the position for future recruiting.  These guys know where they stand now - they won't spend the offseason wondering about the direction of the Nebraska O anymore.  (current players included)

Can't disagree with the stats. My point was more focused on a new OC coming in and expecting something totally different from the QB in place, a la Joe Dailey. So long as Holgorsen can adjust his planning to the players, which Rhule sounds optimistic about, I think it should work out pretty well. Hard part is they've got three weeks to make it work as opposed to a whole offseason and camp.

I’m hoping he does more of his TCU role if/until he becomes OC. Look at what we have. What we do better than worse in. Build up those areas with who/what he has.  Than as at TCU, how would you attach that USC D with what he has/works/can use(implement). It’ll be hard for sure. But hoping his history with QB’s works.
