Fire Foley. It’s past time.

And he should tbh.  If he did that, it'd me has figured a way to either blow out opponents or win 1 score games.
I like your takes lo country but I have to disagree with you here. IMHO, unless Rhule gets us to the playoffs, we should not give him an extension. Giving coaches extensions has been biting us in the butt. Contract extensions are for coaches who show consistent results on the field. Let them earn it. At this point, if someone were to steal Rhule, I would wish them all the best if that reduces our payout. I doubt Rhule will get us anywhere. I am sure there are some FCS coaches with consistent winning records that are eager for a chance. Enough with the Riley 1.0 and 2.0. Nice guys finish last.

9-3 wouldn’t be a significant enough improvement to want you to keep him?  I suppose the eye test might be needed. If those 3 more wins are wins like Iowa just  got, I wouldn’t be convinced.

We are #104 is average yards allowed on kick off returns.  #105 in total kickoff return yards allowed.

And, since I know you're curious, we're #113 in average punt return yards allowed.  And #124 in total punt return yards allowed.

Other than that, our return and coverage units are killing it.
It's amusing how incredulous Rhule appeared during spring and fall camp when fielding an endless stream of questions about special teams.  Just as Frost was.  The issues here are painfully obvious to anyone who follows the program, and they are universal.

What about yesterday’s game makes you hopeful that Matt Rhule will right the ship? Again, 5 first downs, 164 yards, and 21 minutes of possession and we lost to that team. That does not inspire confidence. Make coaches earn their HUGE paycheck. Reward after results. Neither these coaches nor the players have earned anything. Iowa is 6-3 in conference. We are 3-6. We were 3-6 last year as well. Somehow we think that Rhule will create magic in year 3. I doubt it, however, if he did then let him show us magic in year 4 before we extend his contract. No need to keep throwing money at unproven coaches.

I hear you.  I look back on the blue blood programs and heir worst decade.  NU currently has the worst decade of any of them and not looking much better.  The thing I found when looking the programs, NU, OU, OSU, ND, Texas, Michigan, Bama, USC, it took the vast majority of them until their 4th coach to turn things around.  We are in our 10th year now.  All of this to your point, other teams did not wait years to figure it out and give coaches multiple opportunities.  Frost put us behind on the 10 year 4th coach plan.  We kept him 2 years to long IMHO.  Very few teams turned it around with the 3rd coach.

Do I think Rhule is the guy?  Not really.  No fire or passion.  Where have we improved since he has been here?  Hired some poor choices for the staff imho.  Why'd it take Dana to call our WR's blocking and RB's missing the holes?  Maybe this was addressed...Then why wasn't it corrected.  Satts comments on needing to run in the B1G or 4 -5 yards per play was good..  Rhule has poor clock management, looks lost on the sideline and I fear the portal and NIL is lost on him.  with a 105 man roster, you recruit guys who are ready and make sure your portal picks are solid.  I remember Bob Stoops saying he never recruited a HS kid that wasn't ready to contribute on day 1.  The days of building a team are over.  He goes 9-3 I do think it means he's figured out how to win those 1 score games and get the team to know how to win.  But, again to your point, it does make a lot more sense to honor the original contract and go from there.  If there's improvement, pay incentives for the subsequent years.  And his track record appears to get a team "flipped" and then leave in year 4...

Always hopeful but definitely not inspired with confidence. We’re talking about a hypothetical 9-3 finish next year. Let’s say we lose by 3 or less to Michigan, USC and Penn St and the refs screw us in each game, and we clobber everyone else, my opinion will be different. But given what I’ve seen so far, you and I are aligned.

We have fallen so far when people are throwing out crazy hypotheticals that include getting screwed over by the refs as to why we will lose 3 games. I fear another case of Stockholm Syndrome if you think Rhule and the Huskers could go 9-0 in every other game after what we’ve all witnessed the last 10 years.

I was pleased wt the Rhule hiring 2 years ago.  I am very disappointed at this point.  Riley 2.0 but a better talker. If there isn't large change in the coaching staff during the off season as well as a significant roster turn - I don't see 2025 as much better than this year.  A 1 game win total over 2023 in year 2 with this schedule just doesn't cut it.  At least 3 games should have been won that we can put on the coaches and apparently a still losing culture/mindset.

We should not let a call at the end of a game decide the outcome - right or wrong.  We left too much on the field, dropped passes, missed FG, poor tackling & questionable blocking.

Wasn't the SOS of this year's schedule ranked 10th before Saturday's games were played? Pretty sure I read that in one of the threads here but I'm not wading through the bs that has been spewed for 2 days straight now.

I saw something as well that indicated we had one of the tougher schedules in the country, but I don’t think it matters.

We played UTEP & Northern Iowa.  I think we got lucky beating both Rutgers and Colorado.  We are in the fight of our lives with .500 teams.  Great, we are the trash team OSU overlooked.

Raiola was an upgrade, but I have concerns.  Barney is legit.  The addition of Holgorsen is the only thing that gives me hope.  But him alone is not enough.

I think it’s crazy to think anything changes next year at this point.

You missed the point of the discussion.  What would it take in 2025 for you to want to continue with Rhule in 2026?  For the record, no Stockholm Syndrome here - I’m not thinking or expecting 9-3.

I am pessimistically optimistic.  Bringing in Dana and then promoting him was a pretty bold move.  Don't recall this happening many times. I mostly remember/see the midseason firing and then an internal "temp hire/promotion.  I do think Dana would be an upgrade, but I wonder about a few things:

1) Does he even want the job? He's making $4.8 million this year and next.  $2.9 million the next 2 years.

2) How much control would Dana be given?  Could he hire and fire guys?  Would some guys be "safe" because of Rhule, regardless of what Dana wants?

3) How do we fix the talent deficit?  We seem to be lacking "dudes" on both sides of the ball.  The past 10 years I have always been addition by subtractions, but have only seen us adding new and unbelievable ways to lose.

If we do overhaul a substantial amount of the staff and we drop to the 105 roster it opens the door to the "more time" argument. New OC needs to get his players...New scheme/terminology.....Player "X" hit the portal.....We just seem stuck in the perpetual circle of suck where everything we do is wrong and fixes nothing.  Or improves one area and another craps out.  Much like D plays lights out and O doesn't show up.  I've got no answers...
