I know I'm old, but I'm just not feeling the conference loyalty thing. I don't consider Oregon, Washington, UCLA, USC, Rutgers, or Maryland "us" at all, and I still consider Nebraska and Penn State late arrivals.

I'd like to think I'm open minded enough to hate all four finalists equally.

Notre Dame, I guess.  I've already seen Ohio State and Texas win it.  I'd prefer to never see Penn State win it.

It's interesting all four of these teams would have been left out of a four team playoff.

Texas and Penn State would still have been in because they were ranked #3 and #4.  They were just seeded lower due to the seeding rules.

Interesting but also realistic based on our previous performance, that most voters believe Nebraska WILL NOT be in the playoffs during the next 3 years.   We could draw some assumptions from that:

1. we (majority) don't believe Rhule can get us into the top 12 (and potentially top 16) during the next 3 years.

2.  DR may not play out to being that elite QB we hoped he would be or HCMR wasn't able to recruit via portal or HS enough "Joes" to put around him.

3. After 3 more years, the wheels fall off and we start the coaching carousal once again after 5 years of HCMR (I hope not :bang ).

4.  Nebraska just falls into the 'Bo' quagmire - good enough to win most of the games but not good enough to win anything significant.  Like Iowa, old Wisconsin, PSU before this year (of course this would still be an upgrade over the past 10 years -- but is it good enough??).

BTW: who voted that Texas would win the NC? :hookerhorns

It was almost a 50/50 split... and I'm guessing your pessimistic assumptions aren't held by the majority of the 22 that voted we would not.  We just made it to our first bowl game in 8 years.  There is middle ground between making a low level bowl and playing in the playoff.

I voted we would not be in the CFP in the next 3 years because I don't think we will win the BIG or make the CCG in the next 3 years, meaning that we could be ranked in the top 12 and still miss out due to conference champ getting a bid over us. It had nothing to due with HCMR or a lack of faith in him. Unless rules change and they up it to 16 teams, I think it is going to take a few years of being a consistent top 25 team for us to be ranked high enough to get in without being a conference champ.

All the teams I would have liked to win the CFP Championship have now lost, so I guess as much as it pains me to say it.. I'm gonna go with Notre Dame

Not a true Husker fan ;)
Lol there is a lot of truth to that, more than you might know.  Unless you know me.

In fact, I would have been the only person to select Texas for the question "Who do you want to win".  I just happen to like ND slightly more that UT.  And if ND was not in the playoffs, it would have been Texas all the way for me  :)
