Makes perfect sense to me for several reasons.
1- We already play 1 more confrrence game than the SEC teams we are competing with for playoff spots. No reason to play anything other than warm up games in the noncon, except to appease some of our blue haired fan base still living in the 90s.
2- We don't need the increased strength of schedule now that the B1G has expanded. We are in the undisputed best conference in college football right now.
3- The financial reasons check out. We are paying to get the best players possible. Now isn't the time to give up any income.
