Kinda seems like they could have had the screens positioned in a better spot.

I disagree with PBS and most of the center/left leaning narratives here, in terms of their interpretation. It seems fairly clear to me that there is some level of an active targeting of white farmers, and citing the low numbers does not disprove that in any way. Imagine Fox News using the same argument to counter claims of racist policework in Ferguson, the cries of 'per capita' and 'proportionality' would be deafening from the same folks. Now, to what degree this is notable, and rises to the level of American intervention and assistance is a good conversation to have. 

Much wilder though than that, is the idea that there are apparently people calling this genocide? What word would those people use for Palestine?

You say you disagree with PBS saying this isn’t genocide….then your last paragraph argues the same thing.

I don't view PBS' statements on this as claiming it's "nothing at all".  However, they are clearly pointing out the "facts" that our President has been trying to convince people of are flat out wrong.  And, that's been made very clear by the meeting with South African's President in the Oval Office.

 
Also based on the statistic provided by the South African Minister of Agricultural, it seems to me the black farmers are the ones being targeted. 7 black farmers being killed to 1 white farmer tells me there is violence going on towards black farmers and retaliation happening towards the white farmers. That is a rudimentary interpretation of the numbers provided, but I'm not sure what other conclusions could be drawn from such a disparity?

They can do whatever they want, but I perceive the language as being somewhat of a minimization tactic. 

Imagine if Fox News tweeted this out, and if you'd have any problem with it:

“Black men have been killed by police. But those fatalities account for less than 0.002% of the more than 12 million arrests made nationwide each year. In fact, white people made up 44% of police shooting victims last year—outnumbering black victims in absolute terms. Experts said the shootings do not amount to systemic racism, and protest leaders mislead about calls of excessive force and racial discrimination on behalf of the police."

I think anyone "poo-pooing" the possible need for asylum to a white South African is just as ridiculous as someone who declares the potential asylum needs of Afghanis are not necessary.  This is why we have the asylum process, to determine who deserves it and who doesn't.

People  and the media are framing this horribly.  It shouldn't be South Africans vs Afghanis or other non-whites.  It is entirely about an administration that is actively working to end asylum for people currently in the system (that happen to be non-white) while very publicly demanding asylum for others (who happen to be white).  The USA should be open to ANYONE seeking asylum presenting a case for entry into the country.
