I don't think they have much money. I heard on a podcast that their athletic dept has been in the red for a while and they are paying something like $10M/year to the old Pac-12 teams. The B1G money will put them in good shape after a few years.

You may be right. But they've always been able to pay for high profile coaches, and they've got a lot of deep pockets alums for the NIL era.
