*** 2026 Recruiting ***

I think you're correct.

Nebraska's class size is going to limit how high they can finish in the rankings, probably in the ~35th range when it's all done.

But I also think the staff may just prefer the portal at this point, we've had good success there. We have financial resources, so why not buy known production at key spots instead of gambling on a High School kid?
I could not agree more. High school recruiting should be just about building relationships now, so that later on you can call that kid and he knows you.

These numbers are notoriously subjective (because schools classify things differently) but...

I was under the impression we were taking significantly fewer players this cycle. Am i wrong?

That's part of it.

But if we're taking fewer, we should have a higher percentage of four-stars. According to Rivals, we currently have two: Danny Odem and Claude Mpouma. UCLA has three (at the moment). Maryland only has one more recruit than us. Wisconsin also has two four-stars. Rutgers has three. Minnesota has four. Indiana has five. Iowa has four. Illinois has three. Washington has eight. And so on.

So we're taking fewer. But they are also fairly low-rated.

Gotcha. Ok
