Penn State Game Preview

One thing Pelini and Franklin had in common was a really dismal record against ranked opponents, to the point where it defined them as coaches.

As does Rhule at 2-23 (ouch!) which is why I'm hesitant to believe he is at the top of the list of replacements for Franklin. He's done a decent job at NU but hasn't set the world on fire by any mean like Cignetti. Hard to believe the PSU fanbase would get too excited about a Rhule hire.

Callahan Jr throws his hat in the ring. A guy with NFL experience is just the thing Penn State needs to get them over the hump and become truly elite. Even comes with his own OL coach with Big Ten experience!

It strikes me as a bit odd they did him dirty this early. Without their QB they are likely to get drubbed in some upcoming games. Maybe see if he could turn it around? I don’t know. I’ve never thought Penn State was all that good of a program to be honest. The scandal is a historical black eye too. Just a few weeks ago they were in overtime with a top team in the country. Not sure I have seen a shorter faster demise. Thar d-coordinator who moved over from OSU must be going WTH?!
Similar feelings here.

I think PSU showed how weak they are mentally as a program & entitled as fan base. You are having a bad year, the losing streak is awful. So what??!! Just take it on the chin and keep going with Franklin.
Even with a very difficult schedule lurking ahead, he deserved to be retained until the season ends.

Should have kept him and addressed the offensive staff after the season. Now they are losing recruits.

I hope we turn Happy Valley red the same way we did in South Bend... lots of tickets already up for sale on StubHub and the like
That would be so slick and awesome!

They were anticipating a white-out, night game awhile back too. I hope we gobble up all the tickets, and color Happy Valley Ketchup Red !!!

Word is that Franklin was pretty old-school on the NIL front. Didn't sound like he was really into pushing that front. Probably led to questions about if he could get Penn State to the top. Then the last three games happened and....

I don't see how our game isn't a 11am kick. But then I look at the B1G schedule and 5 or 6 games scream 11am kick.

Washington @ UCLA
Michigan @ Maryland
Nebraska @ Penn State
Rutgers @ Ohio State
Michigan State @ Iowa
Illinois @ Wisconsin
USC @ Oregon
Minnesota @ Northwestern

USC/Ore is probably the NBC night game. Maybe we get the 2:30 CBS spot based on the name recognition?
