Nebraska Coach Search - 2025 version

He is not a bad coach at all. I do think that with him in charge and a good schedule (lame non-con and then maybe one of OSU or Oregon) and he gets NU in the playoffs.

I do think that the Indiana DC is a stud, but, he is young and Husker fans would start to eat him alive if he didn't win fast.
Fitz overachieved. Had teams that were tough and didn’t make mistakes.

Pretty much the only thing we can’t figure out

Man, outside of Curt, sure would love to have Lane.
I'd take John Garrison back as OL coach from Lane. Maybe a trade with Donnie.....

Dillingham doing well against the $28 million (maybe 25) TT. EDIT-TT is now wining with 2:00 left showing that money does work :D Dillingham has his team march down in 2 minutes and wins.

Lane would be great.

I like Matt Entz.

Don't think Rhule is going anywhere, but not a bad idea for us to have a list to submit to Dannen :D

I love how Nebraska fans see the writing on the wall that Matt Rhule is a fraud. Sad to say that but with the inconsistency of the offense and defense and having coaches that don't recruit well I don't see us getting out of the hole with him. Matt Rhule is a great talker but I believe we need to clean house and go get a upcoming coach that has a winning record against top 25 teams or is established coach from a program or is out of the business like doing tv.

Maybe we could get coach prime now....huh?

I actually do think he's gone which would somewhat explain yesterday's performance. I guess we'll see.

What sucks is this is a bad season to be looking for a new coach. I'll be surprised if Fickell isn't run out of town and there will likely be a couple of more decent openings this offseason.

I like Rhule, but I'm unsure he has that "it" to lead a program dreaming of consistent playoffs and potentially a title (including PSU).

I'd think we'd get some interest, but wandering in the desert doesn't cause a lot of folks to be like yea, I can flip that. On coach 3. After firing two perenial "winners". A lot of teams have fired coaches this season. To date:
Hot seats:
Billy Napier
Luke Fickell
Hugh Feeze
Mike Locksley
(From generic search)

For sure NU will get some interest. Ironically, it will come down to the very things Rhule mentioned in his Monday press conference., mainly what is our NIL situation compared to the programs currently winning big and the programs also interested in the same list of coaches.

To his defense, the two people he respected the most have left NU and wouldn’t be surprising for him to move on too. The vision of NU and the future that was sold to him is no longer a reality.

If Rhule is a “fraud” AND leaves Lincoln on his own then I would thank him for leaving this place better than his arrival. There’s positive momentum now that can be parlayed by a new coach.

Rhule has tweaks to make which he has shown he’s willing to make changes, and for that and other examples, I’ll continue to support him

You know I like their TJ and Trae's style of play better :ROFLMAO: Watching Saban on game talking about BYU, the GOAT gets it. He says they are built like an old school football team. Mobile QB, they run 60%, throw back style. AND teams today are not built to go against that......Embrace who we were. Quit running from it. Run back to it.
Agree 1000%. Maybe Chadwell with our resources….
Yes I know- we have heard that before

We’ll be fortunate to win 2 more games. PSU is not hiring Rhule, I don’t even think we’ll beat PSU, haha. We know what Rhule is now, a good figurehead spokesperson, good with the media, program builder, ceo manager type. We might as well embrace the positives he brings. But I would still push that it is the position coaches and recruiting that will be the critical components of becoming legitimately better. Right now OL is the focus. Donnie has to go. We need a dude that puts guys in the NFL and will be an immediate recognition to the country we are making OL a priority. It’s really that simple and the easy next step. Sure there are a lot of other things to fix and fires to put out but the OL house is literally burning to the ground, salvage what you can and rebuild.
