Nebraska wins The Battle for NU! What did we learn????

Since 18 we are 5-22 in one score games. If we win those instead of lose them we are one of the best programs in the last half decade and make multiple playoffs.
Just stop. It would have improved the record. It didn’t change the football we played. Look at the teams we lost to.

None of those NEbraska teams were play off caliber teams.

You're take is nonsensical. Winning and losing is what matters. You also act like other teams are without flaws. Many teams have made the playoffs since its inception that if you watched their entire season you wouldn't consider them playoff caliber teams. Thing is they made the playoffs because they had good records. TCU may have gotten blown out by Georgia but they were still in the title game. I encourage you to go back and look at their season that year.

I agree. Turnovers should be included. There are 3 differences.

we need improvements in offense, defense and coaching to make a step change in my opinion. I’m sure there is a talent aspect to it, but I’m not convinced that’s an issue that keeps us treading water in the basement of the B1G.
Nebraska needs improvement in Oline to be a 9 win team and improvement in Oline and Dline to be a 10+win team. If a sugar daddy donor were to come in this winter, it’s possible those positions could be fixed through the portal short term. We have talent everywhere else. I understand people complain about RB depth, but Mozee will eventually be quite good esp with competent Oline.

I agree that if you look at the season, the O line needs improvement. We especially need better depth at tackles.

However, it is worth pointing out, they had a pretty decent game this weekend.

I think Emmitt making the entire NW team miss tackles made the Oline performance look better. They still kinda aren’t that great, but certainly are better when Pritchett and Rocco play. Get three starting portal additions for next year or have Brix make a giant leap and go from there.

Watch the clips of Emmitt's runs and there are a number of runs he had that the O line did their job well. Sometimes those misses were after he was past the line.

I think you're both right to varying degrees.

Being "CFP caliber" really comes down to whether or not you can win the games to get you into the CFP. That can mean different things and look different ways depending on the team and their circumstance. Winning is still the most important metric so I tend to align more philosophically with @Nebfanatic but there is still a beauty pageant element to a playoff format, so we can't categorically dismiss that as entirely nonsensical.

When we ask whether a team is "CFP caliber" nowadays we're really asking if they're capable of winning roughly 10-11 games and competing for a conference championship. My eye test says that's probably not Nebraska this season, but if you're Nebraska and you win 10-11 games... it'd be hard for a CFP committee to keep you out of the playoff. The beauty pageant element comes into play if you're kind of on the fringe there.

Nonsensical?

You’re taking a one score win/loss record and saying how close those squads would/could be playoff eligible. The absolute worst era in modern NU football history.

This ignores EVERYTHING except record. They weren’t good.

We have different views on nonsensical. TCU was a one loss team prior to playofff that got a gift from Michigan. Somehow that compares to us I guess?

Lol you literally said just stop it would only improve the record, as if that isn't something that matters dramatically. The crux of my argument is you said instead of losing one score games, we win them, as if that isn't the entire purpose of the game and what gets teams into playoff spots. TCU absolutely compares to us. We are 6-2 in the B1G so far with winnable games through the end of the season. If we just win one score games instead of losing them the rest of the season we are in the playoff period. You want to complain that our team is doodoo but you fail to acknowledge that most other teams in the country have major flaws and at the end of the season all that matters is the W-L record.

They are 3-2 in the B1G. Every game is winable. The reality is we will get punked by Iowa….again, go down to the wire with two programs that don’t have coaches, and get out coached by USC.

I’m sure .500 in the conference was what everyone was hoping for with our grinder schedule.

Probably playoffs next year

We are 6-2 and we are in the B1G. Better? The reality is you have no idea what will happen in a game that hasn't been played yet. Its cool you think you have a crystal ball and can tell the future but I promise that you do not.
