Nebraska wins The Battle for NU! What did we learn????

Rewatched the game last night with the sound on. Commentators had a time with the “6,7”reference. They’re too old for that.

I woke up this morning, felt pretty good. We are bowl eligible in October, and we beat an NW team that had won 4 in a row. We came back after taking a HUGE dump at Minny. We ran the damn ball. We are not perfect, but we are winning games we lost in the past. Some posters are more worried about being right than getting it right. Matt Rhule is playing the long game. Always said he would.

Sometimes I think some people would rather see us go 0-4 to finish than win any games.

Win and move on. Winning in the CFB is tough, probably tougher than ever.

I can't tell if ugly wins or ugly losses make me feel more disconnected from the online fanbase at large.

At the end of the game, it's kids that don't know you or me, don't care about us either, playing a game. However much you feel like you care about the program, I promise you the staff and the players care more.

We won a tough one score game against a team we have lost a lot of tough one score games against. People got so pissed about the team overlooking Minnesota and then insist on some pissy 'realist' narratives because we were in a slugfest with Northwestern, who we somehow think we have a god given right to be better than and beat just because we showed up, despite 14 years of evidence that this is never going to be easy.

The team is battling, making plays, overcoming mistakes, and finding success. Gone are the days of punts going backwards, several errant snaps and false starts every game, leading the nation in fumbles, not being able to win one-score games, and so many other problems that plagued us. New problems pop up, because it's football and players and coaches change and leave and arrive, but Rhule has clearly demonstrated an ability and willingness to adapt.

If you're a great football team, it's about not making mistakes. We're not a great football team yet, so it's not about not making mistakes, because they're inevitable, but it's about how do you respond after the mistakes. This team is responding well, in the macro and the micro. It's your right to ignore the response in favor of needing to feel like a noble brave truthteller harping on the mistakes, but you're just making yourself miserable for no reason imo.

So I guess that Mavric is ok with members attacking others for stating their opinion as long as Mavric hates that person. Using B$%# and moan is very professional and not at all worthy of a warning. I have been watching Husker football all my life and I know when we have a good team and when we don’t. I say it as I see it. I don’t sugarcoat it. Yes, we won. Yes, it was great. Yes, we are bowl eligible. And yes, we are still irrelevant. If you were to ask any media expert if they think that we can beat a 6-2 Texas, how many will say we can? The next four weeks will let us know where we stand. If we end up 7-5, will you call this progress? We don’t scare anyone anymore. Do you want me to fart rainbows? I will for your sake my friend.
Maybe the topic should be changed from "what did we learn" to "here's what you saw, period"..??

Next years schedule is brutal.
All the reason not to extend Rhule's contract at this point. He goes from the easiest schedule to a very difficult one. How does he and his staff respond / prepare for this?
I agree with your other points - Rhule is a good ambassador / ceo for the University but if the is doing all of those fringe things then he need excellence in all of the other coaching spots. I'd rather have a non-flashy guy who can coach and develop.. I'd say someone like Indiana's coach(like him - I'm not saying getting him specifically) - doesn't seem to be a media hog.
