****UCLA Game Day Thread****

UCLA put 42 on Penn State. NW and NU held UCLA to their lowest points this year.

So which PSU D shows up?

Rhule has more wins at NU to date in Y3 with 3 more games to play than Frosty in 5 years. So ugly but better so far.

I miss our D linemen that freed up other players. I think they would have gotten enough push and help contain the UCLA QB. Or at least sack him a couple times instead of not tackle him. A couple of those 3rd and longs beings stops and this game gets out of UCLA's reach. But they scored with long enough drives they ran themselves out of time.

A deeper OL and DL moves this team up a couple notches.
OL played a decent game today. No TFL and sacks. Running was downhill. Last drive killed the clock. Won another one score game.
This is truly what concerns me. I'd throw in just depth period. We are in year 3 and do we truly have depth anywhere across all 3 phases? I'd say receiver is probably our deepest and they've gotten some quality reps, but elsewhere it just seems almost every year (for a while) we are "rebuilding" each season. I beat the horse of the RB room, but 2 games left and we have EJ, EJ, EJ and some other other guys....

I really think this is what Rhule was saying with the $30-40 million NIL for roster management. Not just to "get" guys, but for NU (IMHO) more importantly to keep guys. Yes it was one game, yes it was UCLA (and yes we are just Nebraska), but I think we'd be foolish to not pay to keep TJ. Raiola is gone in the 27 draft. I think last year was the last since Riley IIRC, when a QB went through a whole season. I am extremely biased as TJ is mobile, but he seemed to have "it". Live arm, he made a read and zipped it in. Didn't appear to throw "lazy" or with no urgency as has been discussed here. Not saying if Raiola came back next week he wouldn't/shouldn't be the starter, but 3 more games for TJ and maybe there's a legit competition next year. Dude beats Iowa.......

I think Rhule started building depth with QBs and receivers. It seems obvious this Freshman provides depth to our starting sophmore QB (read that again). Next looking to the secondary. Kaelin transfered to #14 Virgina and played after their QB got hurt. He got them 2 FGs in a loss.

Last year looking for Oline. Losing White cost some DL size and depth. D is probably better with him just for continuity and a couple players.

I'll take this team over the meaningless "top 25" win Wisconsin got yesterday while they stay home in December. One where their leading passer was the punter on a fake punt.

Well, we have had injuries now at QB, DB, OL, Jack…..and we won last night. We must have at least some depth somewhere.

Can't disagree we have depth at certain spots. QB and WR come to mind. The other positions are serviceable, but doesn't mean they are equal in level of play. Was surprised at the OL play last night for sure. Throwing only 15 pass plays helps. Have one of the most versatile RB's in the nation helps. Mobile QB helped as well. And to the eye, Dana was calling routes (or maybe TJ was just hitting those) that we haven't used before. UCLA 124th against the run also helped. I'll stand by my point that until we have depth ( should have qualified that with quality depth) we will not get where we want to be. We need to have 1a and 1b. Ironically, injuries should help develop this depth as practice can only do so much. I also realize that building quality depth will be hard with the portal and NIL. Concerned TJ will hit the portal. Wouldn't be surprised if some of the RB's do as well. Unsure if EJ comes back or not. Figure test the NFL waters and decide. Goes back to Rhule and his comment about roster money. To keep and to build.

I have not seen or heard one Nebraska’s fan, player, coach or administrator say we are where we want to be. Have you?

Oh I'm sorry, are we only allowed to snort rainbow farts and act like we don't have a ton of improvements to make? Argue with a wall simp.
Wasn't arguing and you surely didn't hurt my feelings- you genuinely seem pissed off constantly. I just asked a question about why you subject yourself to something that makes you so pissed off.

Of course we have a bunch of improvements to make. Same can be said for most college football teams on a weekly basis.
