2025-2026 Portal Updates

Just what the doctor ordered: Rebuild that OL and a 3 star RB or QB will be successful behind it. I like the description of the Peyton Joseph. We need guys like this - which also describes are great OLs from the 90s"
"[Joesph] plays mad with an angry field demeanor that fuels block-finishing conviction.", said 247Sports Scouting Analyst Gabe Brooks.

Nebraska’s offensive line overhaul under new position coach Geep Wade may already be creating ripple effects across the college football landscape.

Just hours after the news broke that Wade would be Nebraska’s next offensive line coach, Georgia Tech redshirt freshman and former four-star offensive lineman Peyton Joseph entered the transfer portal. That instantly raised eyebrows in Lincoln for several reasons. Joseph, one of the most coveted interior linemen in the 2025 class, had been considered a future building block in Atlanta. The former ESPN300 prospect played a reserve role this season, earning time on Georgia Tech’s field-goal protection unit while developing behind an experienced offensive front. With Tech graduating All-American Keylan Rutledge and veteran Joe Fusile, Joseph was trending toward a much larger role in 2026.

Coming out of high school, Joseph was described as exactly the kind of lineman recruit that has seemed to escape Nebraska's roster in recent years. His physicality, attitude, and relentlessness were documented time and time again. It even caught the attention of some of the most connected prep recruiting analysts in the country. "[Joesph] plays mad with an angry field demeanor that fuels block-finishing conviction.", said 247Sports Scouting Analyst Gabe Brooks.

When watching the tape, you can see it, too. Blocking defenders five and even 10 yards down the field was a recurring instance for Joseph playing in Georgia state 5A football throughout his prep career. He played both guard and tackle in high school, proving himself as a player with a versatile background, making him even more attractive to a Nebraska staff that could use the help anywhere they can get it.

No idea what kind of relationship they had, but was a Holgorsen recruit at Houston before a stop at Hawaii and then ASU:

I wish there was a away to measure how good O linemen are. With a WR, you can look at how many catches/yards/TDs they had. An O lineman, you pretty much just have to trust the coaches to make good judgements.

So 3rd team? Im good. Prob aa head case or just not that good. Why not stay at the school you were just at that was good?

This would be his 4th - based on the people leaving ASU's NIL situation must be pretty bad. It is what it is. I worry about guys who transfer a lot without contributing anything, but he's started every game at Hawaii and ASU and was a captain this last year - so if there is any interest I'd be fine with it.

Ben Scott from ASU was pretty good. I think the Sun Devils have had problems with money as Leavitt is leaving and Dillingham was in the media begging for businesses to support ASU. Remember the Sun Devils couldn't afford an indoor facility and bought an inflatable bubble that blew over in the wind?

You had me at plays like Richie Incognito.
Seriously, this as you said, describes the pipeline guys we used to have. Don’t want to get excited, but seems like he might be following Geep. Anyone else?

There are some metrics if you use or trust PFF. There’s also sacks and pressures allowed. But Not exactly the same and also can appear subjective at times.

I don’t.

I did think of that. But, what about run blocking? There’s more to a lineman than just pass protection….though that is very important.

I used to love the pancake stat Nebraska used to keep.
Short of watching games, all you have to go on are overall team stats and PFF individual grades.

And, maybe this guy was the worst guy on a good line. Which means, he’s not a guy that’s going to lift up a below average line.
