Portal QBs

I mean, he coulda just went with Casey Thompson. It was pretty much the default option. But for whatever reason he chased him away...

Why does everyone forget Casey had surgery in the offseason? Rhule told him there was a spot for him but he couldn't promise him the starting job because he'd be missing spring ball and there wasn't a guarantee he'd be healthy and able.

holgorson has never coached mobile qbs so i would be surprised if chiles is somebody we are seriously looking at
This is why I am not sold on Dana. His best offenses have been predicated by strong RB's ie Kendall Hunter and Bryce Beall. Skyler Howard was most "dual threat" QB and that was a few designed runs per game with scrambles included....As mentioned before EJ as an AA and we were still the 80th (or 81st) best rushing offense...And only 13 more yards per game than when Satt had the helm last year. Again, not sold on him. His default will always be the Air Raid.

Maybe we could add Andy Kotelnicki as a OC asst position (knows the B1G) He's not back at Penn St. Or offer Jamey Chadwell a OC asst position as well tbh. Both are run first as a base. I mean seems like we can now bring guys on to assist with things....

Yep. Pipe dreams, but it's the season, holidays are upon us and a guy can wish :ROFLMAO: @TGHusker. I'd still take Chadwell as OC even after going 4-8 this year.

Casey and his dad (we have a problem with dads, don’t we) wanted the starting spot guaranteed and when they didn’t get it at NU they left for FAU (funny no other P5 program would guarantee an injured QB a starting spot).

And then with his surgery-repaired noodle arm threw 0 TDs and 4 INTs against FBS competition before tearing his ACL.

It makes sense we are looking for a Haynes King type given we now have his OL coach. Chiles is not it. Becht maybe or I am intrigued by Minchey although I don’t know much about him. 247 compares him to Sam Ehlinger. Also Kromenhoek from Mississippi State. Big dude that could be a bruiser. 247 compares him to Ryan Tannehill.

So On3 has the NIL valuation. Are we really thinking DR entered the portal and will take a significant pay cut? That would be a bad look for the Raiola family and give me confidence that Rhule did the right thing to know the value and we were paying more than top dollar for DR already. Also, seems like we should be able to get a quality QB for significantly less than DR.

Well, it's On3's NIL estimate, anyway. And I don't think it includes money from revenue sharing.

But if other schools do see him as more of a 4* prospect than a 5*, then taking a pay cut is probably not out of the question.

Arch Manning is allegedly taking a pay cut. I think we saw the peak of QB NIL value and teams are going to start prioritizing other positions.

I think it's a big year for Dana. If they don't take a big step forward on offense he's probably gone and they go the young and hungry route like Colorado is doing with Marion.
