Portal QBs

Would Dana have a QB that has 8-10 designed runs per game? Not including scrambles. Slightly more than Tommy Armstrongs average, but less thanTM and AM. Dana hasn’t run one that much. And I’m assuming we are looking to have a QB run game.

Although we need depth at QB with DR and Davila gone, I get the feeling NU will overpay for someone, or 2. And that would suck.

And how are they going to sell a competition battle if a transfer loses the battle to be starter, but is getting paid to be backup? The way NU handles the QB situation will be interesting.

I doubt it. I can see a few QB draws and some read-option looks being designed and called.

The most important thing is that We need a pocket passer that can push the ball downfield, has mobility to avoid taking unnecessary sacks and can also help the read-option in the red-zone. Lateef.

We don't need a 60% passer that is a dual-threat QB and doesn't do one thing better than the other.

All of our QBs need to be a pocket passers in this offense with some mobility to pick up yards with their feet when necessary. It's that simple.

We don't actually need a stud transfer QB because we had that with DR. We need stud linemen on both sides of the ball with an efficient QB. Win the LOS and we will win more games.

Overpaying would have been giving Dylan whatever he wanted. Not saying we won’t do it after everything’s been said and done but I have a little faith that we have some good plans there.

Worse than Sims. I do not think he can throw as well as Sims.

Chiles: 61.3 completion%, 4,116 yds (7.3 YPA), 27/14 TD/INT (2.5% INT rate) 4 fumbles*
Sims: 56.5 completion%, 5,800 yds (6.8 YPA), 38/34 TD/INT (4.0% INT rate), 24 fumbles*

*It's fumbles and not fumbles lost, and I could not find numbers for Chiles 2025 or Sims 2022 or 2024. In all cases that likely means less than 3 that year so they weren't on a leaderboard, but each total is probably missing a few fumbles.

All that being said, let's not be ridiculous. I don't love Chiles, I would much rather we find somebody else. But the Sims comparisons are ridiculous - yes he's played more, but the rate at which Sims turns the ball over is insane. Chiles actually turns it over at a below average rate.
