Rob Aurich Hired as Defensive Coordinator

North Texas is a full-throttle offense, with a pretty good QB running the offense, and a very great running back.

Mestemaker is #1 in the country in passing yards by almost 500 yards, #1 in yards per game, #2 in TDs, #11 in completion percentage, and #3 in QB rating. He's also a freshman.

I think we can say he's a little better than 'pretty good'.

He's also considered likely to enter the portal...

Can someone tell me the last time we changed coordinators and this was NOT the comment?
It sure does seem to be a common theme. Simplified. Less thinking. Just react, fly to the ball.

Then the next guy comes in and all they were doing before was standing still thinking.

In season? Never.

It's one of the most common mythologies in all of college football, along with "the previous coach barely even made us practice and now we practice so hard and so physical" and "the previous strength and conditioning coach was a joke and had our guys out of shape but the new guy has us explosive and fast and powerful"

I guess I took it as referring to Snow's defensive game plan for the bowl game, which I would expect it to be simplified. You're focusing on a few things for a single opponent and that's it.

I don't think it's our new coordinator's actual defense. He hasn't been here and there's not enough time to install a full defense anyway. Though I agree that I've heard that comment several times before from different players.

I fondly remember how Duval was going to win us games because we were squatting and lifting heavy weights while Riley’s S&C coach had us doing yoga while sipping lattes.
It really is amazing how some fans think that there is some magic workout that the good teams are doing.

The SC coach might as well just get replaced by ChatGPT.

High School coaches have a harder time because they have to figure out how to fit 70 kids into a room that used to be a janitors closet.

Riley’s S&C coach was hampered bigtime by a certain person that wanted things done his way.

Thank you Mr Researcher, for the insight.

I went to 3 games this year and saw it first hand. I recorded and watched every game. We enjoyed a great season at North Texas. Mestemaker had a great year. Hawkins is gold in the red zone. I think he is a great young back that could become a 1st rounder down the road. Eric Morris is a great coach. He brought a fun offense and excitement to UNT. We almost made the CFB playoffs! Isn't that crazy?

They going to Okie State to follow Morris, unless the money is too good to pass up.

I have seen 20+ games at DATCU stadium. But I have been to way more basketball games at the Super Pit. I love the pit, the popcorn, the nachos and UNT basketball. With a cold Starry soda on Ice.

It took me a long time to get my degree, but I graduated from UNT. I am a Mean Green For Life. Thank you for sharing your researched information because I do agree. Messy is better than pretty good this year. ;):)

Do you think all three are going to Okie State?
