2025-2026 Portal Updates

To take in 15, 17 still have to announce they are leaving? Correct?
There will be more. We will process guys too in addition to guys leaving for their own interests. Believe that 105 number we have to get to that by fall camp. We will also have a couple of players around that would be available if guys got hurt to join that active roster number.

Maybe I should say quality players that actually contribute. How many of those 17 actually played meaningful football? Probably about 8-10.
Not sure about last years numbers, but since 23-ish we have more misses/meh transfers. Missing some probably but nothing major..

Where we hit: 11
Ben Scott (C), Pritchett (LT), Hunter (WR), A. Marshall (DB), Key (WR), Ceyair Wright (DB), Williams Nwaneri (DE), Rocco Spindler (OL), Cunanan (PK), Oriz (LS), Tommi Hill (DB)

Where we missed: 10
MWT (undersized LB), Sims (QB), Davila (QB), Mazzccua (OL), Jaylen George (DL), Hardy Gilmore (WR), Gilbert (TE), Hood (OT), IGCastaneda (WR/PR), Stefon Thompson (LB/Syracuse)

Meh: 11
Billy Kemp (WR/PR), Fleeks (WR/RB), Jeudy (DL), Dowdell (RB), Banks (WR), Gabe Moore (DL), D.McCullough (S/LB/DE), Chief Borders (LB), I.Neyor (WR), MJ Sherman (LB), Purdy (QB)

Good/TBD: 3 - Tyler Knaak (OL), J.Rhett (DB/ST), J.Conn (DB/ST), Genatone (LB/ST)

QB: 2 guys
RB: 1-2
WR: 1
OL: 3
DL: 3
LB: 2
DB:2

There’s 15. That doesn’t count ST.

I don't think it will be 20. Maybe a couple more than 12 but not a ton.

The vast majority of guys transferring in will be guys you're expecting to start. Obviously one of the QBs will be a depth guy and there's 1-2 other projects but for the most part you're paying for starters. Even if we replace every starter we lost that would be about 12.

Two QBs is almost a given
I could see a second RB but not necessarily
WR probably depends on Barney but one seems about right
I don't think there will be three OLs unless we lose some more. We bring two full-time starters plus one guy who's been right in the mix. Plus we have 2-3 guys who I think the coaches believe will be ready by next year. So I would say 1-2 here.
I think switching to a more traditional four-man front will change the dynamics on the DL. It sounds like Rhule believes that Davis and Nwaneri will be better fits as traditional DEs. And I'd like to think Lenhardt might be as well. Plus Pietrzak is obviously going to play a lot going forward. So I would say 1-2 on the DL as well.
Pretty murky at LB with the change in scheme but I could see two here, though only one wouldn't surprise me.
It actually wouldn't surprise me if we didn't take any DBs, though neither would taking two. I'll say one at this point.
I don't know if we'll need much for kickers as we've hit that hard the past couple of years and already added another Aussie. But one more wouldn't be surprising.

So I actually think 11-12 is probably in the ballpark. Though a couple more than that wouldn't be surprising.

I guess a little bit of a caveat with my above numbers is that our new DC might bring a couple more guys with him that we wouldn't have to have otherwise. But that would probably still fall under the extra couple I think we might take.

Ohhh I like the sound of that, regarding new DC.

Fingers crossed that the new OC does the same with one lineman for sure.
