Did we ever reach out to Urban before/after Frost was booted?

I don't care if Urban spent 5 years living on Epstein island, he would be as close to a home run as we could get. I guess the perfect choice would be Stoops, but the call there would need to be made shortly after he retired. The timing would've worked out. And yes, I know that ship has sailed. "What ifs" are the only Xmas presents we have right now.

I think the lingering problem may be thinking coaches like Urban and Stoops were there for the asking. Osborne and Solich were both homegrown coaches and when they fired Frank we were only two seasons removed from playing in the National Championship game. I think Pedersen and us fans figured the Huskers could lure anybody because we were Nebraska. That wasn't the case then and it's far less likely now. Both Callahan and Rhule came to us after getting humbled in the NFL. They were safe and defensible choices, but we're going to have to be more risky, clever and lucky.

Historically that just isn't "the Nebraska way" though. Middle ground, safe choices and being conservative etc. are the MO. I think that contributes to why we are constantly stuck.

Defense is absolutely terrible. I knew this going on, but this is going to get very, very ugly in the second half. They will be embarrassed for the 3rd game in a row.
Need to fully address the defense starting next week. These guys suck and watching them makes me sick.

Didn’t help they used the 4-2-5 defense with only a few weeks to prepare. You need more time than that to change schemes
