Frank Okam Hired as Defensive Line Coach?

Ffs can we please stop hiring these assistant line coaches from the NFL? That’s basically a G.A. coaching position in the pros. Didn’t we learn our lesson with Donny? Dude has not stayed at a single team for more than a season.

Is it customary for the coordinators to be actively involved in positional coach hiring?
So just gonna ignore Terrance Knighton then?

How do you know he was not?

I wouldn't say that's a fair comparison. Donny's only experience as an actual position coach was in Division III.

Hear me out. He’s coaching and learning under Demeco Ryan’s. Houston’s defense scheme is pretty damn good. There is potential for this to be a good hire and help this d-line. Texans def de is nasty. And yes i know. They have players.

At least he has coached in college and was recently Toledo's d-line coach for the 2023-2024 season. The thing that worries me is it's another buddy hire bc he was MR's d-line coach at Temple and Baylor and while nobody complained about Terrence Knighton mind you he had a better roster to work with with Ty and Nash being here. It's like MR doesn't trust/or have enough friends to not keep going back to the water well. Im not saying he won't or can't help improve the d-line but sometimes going outside your comfort zone has better results and sometimes they don't.
