Frank Okam Hired as Defensive Line Coach?

Okam probably has a contract obligation that prevents him from leaving right now or being named. Our company does it and if you break that contract, you are liable for paying back benefits and wages.
 
Don’t make him an actual coach, just honorary everything. Suh is the epitome of the Blackshirts and our defense has sucked. Need to inject some life back into it. He’s a walking promo meme for us at the least, like Boz with OU. The lack of focus on the defense since Bo left is a shame, hopefully the new guy goes pedal to the metal.

I doubt this is losing recruits. The position coaches recruiting has become almost a non-factor these days. Every school has staff that does nothing but recruiting now and at the end of the day it's going to come down to how much money we offer compared to other teams.

It is not. We have a head coach, a defensive coordinator and an assistant who coaches the defensive line. In addition to various other assistants and analysts who help. I doubt any player in the portal is even aware that we might hire another assistant.
 
Disagree with the disagreers! Surely if we had a position coach for potential players to meet with on their visit that would be much better. If we are neck and neck (equal money offers) with another team the team that has their DL coach has the advantage. You don’t think if we had Elijah Robinson we’d be getting more DL visits? I’m not saying he was an absolute must hire but not having this position filled is hurting us. I’d venture to say that some portal players are scratching us off their list, why deal with the uncertainty? Rhule better have ace up his sleeve here.

It it absolutely the most important position group on this entire roster at the moment. And we not only didn’t hire a guy to manage it yet..we have nobody committed to man the interior which was absolutely gashed. Nor do we have any significant edge rushers on this roster to speak of.

Yep. I think that the players would like to meet with their position coach. Hear exactly how said coach plans to use me. I don't think it's a good look when we say we have all this money for NIL, but still no DL coach. But that's just me.
 
There is an argument this hurt us with SDSU White and Henderson. White went to Texas Tech so probably not able to match their bag. Elijah Robinson and Texas A&M got Henderson, so that whole situation sucks. That being said there are good DL players still out there. Rhule needs to come up BIG!
