Frank Okam Hired as Defensive Line Coach?

Don’t make him an actual coach, just honorary everything. Suh is the epitome of the Blackshirts and our defense has sucked. Need to inject some life back into it. He’s a walking promo meme for us at the least, like Boz with OU. The lack of focus on the defense since Bo left is a shame, hopefully the new guy goes pedal to the metal.
Hate to break it to ya but today's recruits were shitting in diapers, if they were even born yet, when Suh played here.

So there was one guy on another board who threw out Iowa Western's Aaron Terry as a name to watch for DL coach. Well, we just offered a D lineman from Iowa Western. Could be a coincidence, but...

Mentioned on this board as well. Can't remember who it was..... Terry was also on staff there when Dave Tollefson was. Tollefson was helping out with bowl prep. Thought that might have been a sign Terry was "N". Dude has done some great work at that level. Worth a look IMHO.
Here's his bio:

The greats in coaching started somewhere...

Dude has been in Nebraska's backyard the whole time yet we picked Terry Bradden over him. Im not saying he was/is even looking for a job but to not even try to see how interested he could be in the job is very questionable of the staff especially since he produces guys to the NFL. Nebraska for the most part doesn't even get players from Iowa Western when you think there should be a pipeline from there.

Come to think of it, have we been bringing in many CC players in general? I think of guys like Lavonte David or Zac Taylor, both of whom we pulled from CCs in Kansas. Have we had any notable CC guys recently? I guess the portal probably altered the balance some?

Apparently Benning was also talking about Aaron Terry today?

Just doing some checking, apparently he previously coached three guys who went on to be named All-ACC just this year in Clev Lubin (3rd team), Jordan van den Berg (1st team), and Kemari Copeland (3rd team).

That's, um, as many 1st/2nd/3rd-team all-conference D-linemen as we've had in the entire post-Pelini era...

Aaron Terry is a dawg and would be the best dline coach we’ve had a in a while! I’ve known him for years and worked together with him working with troubled youth years ago!
He’s a great guy, would bust his a$$ and his players love him! Has produced a lot of successful players including a ton of all Americans, guys who’ve succeeded at the Power 4 level and some also in the league.
At this point. He would be my top pick! He has something to prove!

The change in the academic qualification requirements and the transfer portal have significantly reduced the number of guys going the JUCO path.
