Dylan Raiola

I predict the fanbase as a whole would have been about .001% less salty and pissy towards Dylan if he made a big statement post about leaving.
I disagree. I’d say there’s a good chunk of fans that understands both slides needed to move on to move the directions each side wanted to go. Not looking for anything big but a thank you would have gone a long way and closure for both sides. That he didn’t do that leaves a bad taste and he comes off as petty. I wouldn’t have thought about that at all if he just released a paragraph statement like every other player does. Like what is the reason for not doing that? He was rollled out the red carpet like no other recent player and has nothing to say?

I could give 2 squirts about Dylan's departure. In my opinion he helped in national recruiting up front and helped move the offense a bit but the direction dana wanted to move in and the handcuffs that went along with his family, hurt the advancement in my opinion.. the fact that he dip'd the way it appears that he did is the ONLY reason im "salty" at all.. I think the offense is in a much better position without him in my opinion..

A large, vocal chunk of the fanbase have made it clear they despise Dylan for committing the crime of being a pocket passer. Now they expect a "thank you"? Get outta here.

I am surprised by the hate for DR. In my mind, fans initiated his departure by over inflating TJ’s ability against an uncoached UCLA team. Sure, he (and his team) shouldn’t look at social media for validation, but the level of sprew was cringy. He did nothing except break his leg. He didn’t beat a girl, rob a store, or do gang activities He was a great advocate for the University.

Wandale R is the only other guy I can remember of a high caliber that transferred out and it doesn’t seem like fans hate him.
I too am surprised at how many of the fans feel spurned by the Raiolas. Many of them were the same group who could not wait for TJ's time after that UCLA game and hoped for an open spring QB competition. Clamoring for a thank you post or tribute is sad and very childish, like a middle school breakup seeking closure. So long as he doesn't come out criticizing the program, the best way to view it is as a transactional arrangement that simply expired.

It's a poor character move when somebody uses the limelight and plays on a fanbase for their livelihood for 2.5 years and then exits without a word. Absolutely shows it was all a farce and we were the punchline. Even worse, we loved the guy, the family, etc. Its like finding out your fiance was cheating on you with an online Russian the entire time you were planning your wedding and they leave you at 2am on a Thursday morning without so just as a, "its not you, it me," note. Your fiance is an a$$.. The Raiola's are an a$$. No big, in the end your life will be better for having gotten out of that toxic engagement, as will the Husker lives. Kharma almost always wins.

I must have missed something but what handcuffs did the Raiola's have on the program?

Maybe was mutual. Rhule appears to be a very professional guy and knows what to say and more importantly what not to say. Maybe they had conversations about firing uncle, Dana talking about working on mobility, here’s how much money we have and it needs to go to OL (insert others here) and they parted. Maybe Dylan feels negative towards NU for having hard conversations, and being honest after he gave his all. We will never know. Maybe him fading out was the best way so there’s no “he said, she said” drama. Dudes out. Best of luck or screw you will have the same impact on him and NU. None. But I am in the “can’t believe no parting statement crowd”, but I have no idea how it went down. Might not have even been a mutual parting. Maybe it was all Rhule and Dana. Again, who knows.

So we just ignore all the actual work he put in and the play on the field and claim he was "using the limelight?" Sure I think a thank you to the fans would have been nice, most players do it. But would that really change how anyone feels about his time here and how it ended? It's not like he just took the money and ran, he put in the work and played pretty well. Now he's gone, we can move on.

When you guys leave your job for a new place do you send out some sort of "good bye" and "thank you" to everyone?

I left one school for another and I think I might have told 3-4 people.

And those 3-4 people probably didn't care at all.

I'm not about to argue that 3-4 people didn't care that you were leaving your job, but I'm also betting you didn't promise an entire state that you would lead them to the promised land, asking only a few million dollars in return.
