Dylan Raiola

The way I see it, 50% of HB posters should be celebrating right now. I read all season about how he doesn’t throw deep, sitting duck, can’t progress through reads… WE WANT TJ… welp, celebrate, because if he was as bad as some said, we should be pumped to line up against him!

Truth be told, I bet they are secretly scared crapless, bc they know he may very well carve us up and will show that he was truly a loss!

He could carve us up and still not be a huge loss to the program. The two things are not mutually exclusive, because we aren't that good. We've mad a lot of QBs look really good over the last decade.

He tends to play better against weaker competition in the middle/lower BIG. But not always.

Oregon fans will expect better production out of him than what he did this year and to beat better teams then he has played in quite a while.

His best game was in a loss to Michigan. I wish he had more than -87 rushing this year. His play in the Michigan State game was putrid for ~80% of the game. I don't think I've ever attended a game with that bad of offensive play. Glad their offense sucked or they would have run us out of the game by the end of the 3rd Quarter. A blocked punt for a TD and a great 59 yard screen play saved us against the doormat of the BIG.

Dylan Raiola is just one of many ambitious football mercenaries out there, but at some point I'd like a player to stand up and be recognized as a cautionary tale for the dismantling of college football loyalty, the de-valuing of teammates and working through adversity, and the instant gratification of NIL that disappears with the statistical probability that you will never thrive or even play in the NFL, while the entourage that's been prodding you since you were 16 has abandoned you like....well like one of the teams you abandoned.

I think Dylan has all the right qualities to be that guy.

This might be the best the game the D plays all year tbh. I know it'd mean more to me than any other others. Going against the captain of our team who left. But that's just me. Plus this team went against him for 2 years. Rhule knows him, Thomas knows him, Dana knows him....And he might not even start in 2026 and gone by 2027.

I did say in another earlier post that if he does carve us up, it'll be another kick in the nutz of how far we are from being "back".

This isn’t that difficult.

Our O line didn’t give him much time. Oftentimes he held onto the ball too long. Our WRs couldn’t get separation. He wasn’t mobile.

None of that means he sucked. It only means we could do better with a mobile QB. Given better protection, better WRs and figuring out it’s not all up to him to make something happen, he should do better and be a better fit at Oregon. They’re a much better team top to bottom. Conversely, we should do better with a more mobile QB who maybe isn’t the pocket passer DR is.

I must’ve missed where people said he was that bad. Even if he does carve us up at some point, that doesn’t mean we would’ve experienced that performance had he stayed. IMO, we’re better off and he’s better off.

This is up there with the steer picture

NU fans need to mentally prepare for the reality that he's going to do incredibly well at Oregon and find a lot of success there individually, with the team, and onwards into an NFL contract.

Let’s revisit this in a couple years

I am curious how history will judge the Raiola years. He sure brought a lot of momentum into the program and was supposed to be the magnet to turn this program around. However we have hovered near .500 with Raiola on the team, and now we are looking at a complete overhaul of players and some staff heading into next season.
