New ST Coach Mike Ekeler

The sky is always falling for HuskerNation1 :ROFLMAO:

I am just a fan that wants to see this program return to greatness and not be mired in medocrity. We lost Tony White the prior year and Rhule assured us the defense would not lose a beat...yet our defense sucked under Butler who Rhule chose to replace White. I am frankly tired of career .500 coaches getting a huge paycheck and failing to make significant improvements. I truly hope Rhule can finally make that leap in 2026 but am highly skeptical that Nebraska can even finish in the top 5 of the league in his 4th year at the helm. But by all means keep pumping sunshine and rainbows and ignoring the fact that Rhule has the same 19-19 record after 3 seasons that Mike Riley (who was fired) had after 3 seasons.

For the record I could see the warning signs late into Frost's 2nd season and definitely in his 3rd season that he was not equipped to return this program to an elite status and received similar skepticism from posters like you. You are free to go back and find my comments. I also predicted that Butler would not be a good replacement for White. I see a similar pattern with Rhule and do not see us competing for a BIG title while he is coach let alone making the CFP.

Glad it’s finally over and we can all move on. Tough blow. They can replace his scheme but his attitude is what Rhule has tried to preach but has failed to install. Three guys trying to replace behind the scenes doesn't instill confidence. Batter up.
I'm not sure if his specific attitude is needed or that's just a thing us fans think is a bigger deal than it is. I didn't notice any coaches jumping around knocking players down last night.

Ek knows the end is near for Rhule and realized a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
You don’t think he would have been hired elsewhere? Look, he has tremendous energy, but who knows if he has stamina. It’s very hard to manufacture energy. I think he does it by have a completely new challenge almost every year. I applaud him for getting us the wins he did this year, but am looking forward to having a more complete team where ST is considered, as the Cajun culture calls it, lagniappe- a little something extra.

I agree with your sentiment, but not your example. Being extra aggressive on KO returns in a bowl game where you are clearly out classed and getting manhandled is absolutely the right call. I side with Ek over Rhule there. In a close game, you are spot on, but not one where you have to hit big plays to have a chance.
Yes, not the best example!

Well then it’s a good thing a former B1G punter of the year and 2x B1G kicker of the year is still on staff.
Hey I hope you guys are right that ST somehow gets better without Eckeler. I have my doubts about that and whether Rhule can show meaningful improvement in all aspects in 2026 including the win loss record. Time will tell.
