Who had the more accomplished coaching career?

It's funny to see the lack of respect shown by the other big 12 states. Specifically Iowa, Missouri, and Texass. Kinda sad....even Oklahoma, Kansas, and Colorado show moderate support for one of the greatest names in college football history. I don't want to take anything away from Bowden, he is right there with T.O., but he is not T.O.

NU chooses to leave the conference and all the immature fans come out of the woodwork. Just sad...
That's exactly what I was thinking when I first saw the map of the votes. It is just sad.

interesting, kinda funny but I remember espn doing a poll like this in 2007, but it was for greatest college football coach of all time and TO won the poll.

I can't beleive there is an actual poll about this. Osborne is better and its not even close. Osborne had three titles and one of the most dominant teams in college football history while coaching a school in middle America. As Florida State coach, Bowden just opened his door and the high powered recruits signed on the dotted line. It would be scary to see what Tom would have done with the kind of talent that Florida State can get on a regular basis.
It wasn't always that way, FSU was 4 and 29 the 3 years before Bowden took over. What did Nebraska do the 3 years before Osborne took over? Oh yeah, won a couple of championships. Not taking Bowden's side, just pointing out facts.

Yes I remember this as well, it came down to "Bear" Bryant and Osborne and Osborne won if I remember correctly.

They're just so butthurt over getting put in their respective places.

LOL yes, agreed.

I can understand why Bowden is winning. I mean TO inherited a team that just won the NC. Bowden had to build his team from scratch. I'm not saying Bowden is a better or more accomplished coach, but I can understand why some believe him to be.

one, it is about timing. TO has been a bit forgotten and a leaving legendary coach's history is alway immediately, if only temporarily, white-washed. two, bowden did build fsu, but TO sustained a program at a pretty high and consistent level.

College Football Live on ESPN just did a piece on the 1994 Orange Bowl, Florida State vs Nebraska and they showed the missed field goal by Byron Bennett that gave FSU the win and the National Championship. The only thing I thought as I watched that kick sail horribly left is that Alex Henery would have nailed that field goal. Only if...

Um just to point out something you kind of overlooked. Osborne was the OC of both those NC teams. Meaning that Nebraska has never won a National championship that didn't have him coaching the offense. That would mean he's been involved in 5 CHAMPIONSHIPS and Bowden only two.

Let's also not forget even the press aknowledged that Osborne out coached Bowden in the 93 orange bowl. Good thing for Bowden that there was no replay back in 93.

I felt when TO probably would have passed Bowden and Joepa for most wins at the rate he was going at the end of his coaching career. Im guessing he would be around 340-360's wins if he was still coaching.
