And that is how we determine who is faster than whom.
Honestly I don't really care about straightline speed. If a player ever gets the opportunity to run for 4 seconds straight downfield, then he could run a 5.0 40 and still make a big play. It's the quarterback's job to create those opportunities for our McNeils and Pauls and Helus. As GMoose said - we do not run an option! And it's not like we just flip a switch and say "OK, let's become a power option offense." We don't have the personnel. We've run it a few times in recent years with Ganz, Lee, etc. And we saw how ugly it was.
As far as fitness tests go, Lee tested out as one of the most athletic players on the team last spring, so why some people seem to treat Lee as a stone-footed pocket passer next to Green and Martinez is beyond me. Lee makes Joe Ganz look like Zac Taylor, and none of us had any complaints about Ganz's speed. And Martinez makes Lee look like Sam Bradford, so...I'm sorry, I know you guys love you some Tay-mart, but if he ever starts at QB for us this year get ready for a lot of "He's just a freshman" excuses...
