You forgot TE's, but other than that :thumbs
And I think you meant on the OL that we can't fully implement the blocking schemes needed?
With that said, our OL we're recruiting don't seem to fit that mold, agreed?
WR recruiting, as usual, is a mystery.
RB and QB look decent assuming we keep Bubba and Jamal, and get Heard and Green.
But that's a heck of a lot of ifs.
Actually, I don't have a problem with our TEs. Ben Cotton has been a fantastic blocker, especially getting up field and locking into someone. Kyler Reed has surprised this year, and is showing flashes of what a weapon he can be. Really, Ron Brown has did a solid job with his crew.
Yes, typo on the OL. My mistake.
Yes, the OL we are recruiting do fit the mold we need. But being completely honest, Barney is absolutely not the guy who should be teaching spread option blocking concepts to this bunch. People can think whatever they want about Barney, but this style of blocking is COMPLETELY different that what he is used to.
Gilmore is worthless, point blank. I'm glad he at least enjoys the 'recruiting coordinator' tag, because he does nothing to deserve it. His development of WRs is horrid, and his ability to even attract WRs to look at Nebraska is a joke.
RB, I like who we have. Helu and Burkhead are GREAT RBs, I'm just not entirely sure they fit what we want to do in this offense. Heard and Green do though. Just wish we used Burkhead more out of the backfield. That wheel route was beautiful against Texas, and the two routes he ran from the backfield against WKU were as well.
QB, we have the athletes to run the zone, we have the passer to make a team respect our ability to pass. We just don't have them all in one player. I really think Brion Carnes
could be that guy, as he is looking very good on the scout team. Really hope Bubba gets here as well, as I think he could be our guy for the future.
Taylor, he needs to just abandon learning the zone this offseason and do nothing but pass until his arm falls off. If he can properly go over his reads, make quick decisions, get the ball out quickly, and not hang his WRs out as often making them reach or stop on routes, then I will have
COMPLETE faith in him. But that's alot of progress to make.
