HUSKER 37

I actually did like that (somewhat)..but probably unlike Bull ..I do feel that the BCS was a good compromise.Just wondering, did you like the unresolved end of the 94 and 97 seasons? 90 and 91 were also split or uncertain IIRC, though I don't remember if there were 2 clear teams you'd want to have go at it going into the bowls.I absolutyely hate the BCS and how it has ruined the end of the College Football Season.
After reading his views on several similar threads, I think he's mainly pissed that all of the Bowl games aren't on New Years Day.
I live in an area with a lot of transplanted Football fans..I even work with a guy from Mechicken and we can (waste) hours on end arguing who was better in '97..I went to an AZ Rattlers arena football game once wearing (of course) one of my fav. Husker shirts and almost got spit on by an old timer working as an usher and muttering something about Penn State would have crushed us in '93 or '94...If my young Son hadn't have been with me, I might have thrown his walker down the steps. eyeswear2allthatsholy
Shure it would've been nice to prove our dominance over them, and I do feel for the players, but some of the best games are those that are never played..The right amount of controversy keeps it interesting in the long run...I can't even name a SuperBowl champion from the last decade.
I don't really care about the bowls that much..other than the economic impact it has in the Phoenix area each year which I suppose trickles down to me somehow?..And they ARE nice for the players (Student Athletes)..Many who play their last game there and half end their careers with a win..Why limit that experience to only one team and add several valuable games' experience to a few elite teams and give their underclassmen an additional "leg up" on the rest of the schools for next season..We could end up with 18-19 games in a season and other teams in our own conference will have to compete with us the next season with probably less than a dozen games the previous year...Just so we can have a "True? Champion".
Some years.. I still kept wishing for a 1-2-3 finish. like we had when I was eleven with OU and Colorado..I know it would never happen, but it was fun dreaming sometimes..That '71 Husker team has been mentioned by several as the best team of all time..or at least number 2..But that "Game of the CENTURY!!!" with OU was sooo close, there's no way I would expect to beat them again in a conference championship. or even OU beating the Buffs again that same year in a playoff.
You can say all games are still important, but not nearly as important as they once were..Which is sorta nice 'cause I no longer get suicidal for months after a loss .... :ahhhhhhhh
There's so much luck involved in seasons and especially games, which is part of the magic..The best team doesn't always win, and the old Bowl System and to a lesser extent sometimes, the BCS awards the team with the best overall season to be "Mythical" champions instead of who got hot or rested their starters at the right time toward the end of the season.
