NU Head Coaches - their first four years

I think we all need to understand that each and everyone of us wants Nebraska to win. All are loyal fans of the program. We have a coach that has the ability to get the job done, I think, if given the time to learn the job. It truly was not fair to him that he was hired at Nebraska. We also need to understand that he is here for at least another two years. In those two years if we do not see the improvement that all of us want, anti Bo and pro Bo, he will have had time to prove his ability or lack there of.

The program is suffering through a lot of strife right now. The calmer we can be during this the better for the program. Everything that is said get backs to the kids and the staff one way or another. The internet has changed the world and college football is part of it.

Bo needs our support now, we need to try to get on the same page, and do anything in our power to make things better at Nebraska.

Potential recruits reading these pages, get a bad idea about the fan base I think. I am not sure we are actually doing the program any good by the continous attacks on the staff and players.

We saw what happened when we fired a coach, that by most standards was a good coach. We fell a long way down. We do not have the time to do that. Bo has to get us to being relevant again. He can not fail. We need to support him and stand behind him. The program is at stake here.

Doing the numbers, Frank was heading down no question.

I really do not want to change head coaches, I just want people to put realistic expectations on him. He may be a very good coach down the road, but currently he is not the best out there nor anywhere near being that. But we can not replace him and get any better is my guess. I do not want to start over again. This project is going to take time, TO did. I sat at his firt game against an Unranked UCLA team that beat the Number 1 team in the country that day. Things take time, but realistic expectations make things a lot easier to deal with and keeps the negative Nancy's at bay.
I agree. And I see signs that he's working on things. He's had to cut his teeth as a head coach as a pretty high profile, under the microscope place.

South Carolina defensive ppg:

E. Carolina -- 37pts.

Georgia -- 42 pts.

Arkansas --44 pts.

Oregon gave up 27+ points 8 times this year.... Should we really be asking them how to play defense??

We will be fine on defense, and to act like Bo can't coach a defense is ridiculous, if evidence is needed just look to 2010, 2009.... Was our defense this year great? No, but will it get better in the future? Absolutely....Logic, and reality seem to escape a lot of people on this board, but AustinHuskr seems struggle more then others....

I don't understand why any discussion about Bo or Cally always comes back to Solich and his awesomeness. I have news for you: Solich sucked. Did he suck as bad as Cally? No. Was he better than Bo? Hell yes - at least based on the paltry stats we have. For one, he could recruit A LOT better. Bo's recruiting is borderline horrific. In either case, both weren't very good HC's. People tend to forget but Solich's last season was bad: 3 woodshed outings to mask that mediocre 9-3 record.

Regardless, I just wish people would stop constantly looking backwards esp. to Solich! Good grief.
Have to disagree with you there. Solich was great until after 2001 when the last of TO's recruits had graduated (the Crouch class).

2 of these coaches improved the win percentage from their predecessor. The BobFather +49% and Bo +16%. Granted some of that improvement was due to the previous derelict in charge but, it improved none the less. And a couple of the coaches who dropped off (TO -16% and Frank -10%) was because the 2 preceding years were extra special. I hate the large margin, no contest losses as much as the next guy but, IMO a person would have to be crazy to be considering pulling the plug on Bo at this point in time. Heck I was more disappointed in some of our wins than I was the Northwestern loss. Something tells me people like AustinHuskr would never be happy unless it was CCG's and NCG's every friggin year. Same type of people tried to ride Osborne out on a rail numerous times too. GD good thing they're in the extreme minority and still are, irregardless of their contrary claims. We've got stuff to fix no doubt but that stuff doesn't magically change with a new staff. Give it some time to develope and quit promoting that we begin again, over and over. If you just can't stand the way things are and where they're headed, the other 95% of us aren't forcing you to be a fan. If you think it is so much easier to do much better than the current staff, maybe you should actually try it from the sidelines and south stadium rather than acting like you're some kind of expert just because you have a TV and a computer. I'm not saying you have to be a sunshine pumper but even a hint of perspective and reality would be nice.

10% of Husker fans control 100% of the "positive light at the end of the tunnel with Bo Pelini" thoughts. #OccupyBoPeliniThoughts

^^ This is considered 100% accurate by at least 15% of midgets who own farm animals.

Since everyone likes to comare apples and oranges.

Frank Beamer

Mike Gundy

Gary Patterson

Bo Pelini

Chris Peterson

Nick Saban

Those are the only D1a coaches who've won 9 games or more each of the last 4 seasons.
Guess which one doesn't belong in that bunch because he didn't win a conference title and a BCS bowl? Putting Bo in the group is ludicrous. He's an average coach getting average results.

Bo deserves to have two more years to prove himself. He needs to win a CCG or he's gone. It's that simple.

Austin, I'm not sure you meant to say Solich recruits better than Bo. If so, I'd really disagree.

And if the ticket sales at the bowl were any indication, we're farther along than I even thought.
The economy had far more to do with poor ticket sales than anything else.

This is one of the sadest times of me being a Husker fan. I never thought that day would come but I'm slowing losing my enthusiasm as a fan..... I find myself now watching more NFL... I watch games like Oregon/WI as if I had dog in the fight. Maybe it's my inner being wanting to watch some good football.....IDK.... but I've NEVER felt this way even during 2007 (bec. I knew Cally was gone)
Wow. I hope this is hyperbole, because if you really think we're worse off now than we were at any time during the Callahan years, your perspective is way off.
The "economy"?

Husker fans were never stopped by Tsunami's but now the economy is in the way.....Whatever.

Yes, 2007 was worse. DUH!

But TO was not in the house. Cally had no backing (and who cares, he sucked). Pederson was the devil. The big difference is we KNEW what was broken.

Now, it's a disaster from top to bottom. I question TO's ability to hire a coach. I question TO's exact definition of "things are going well". I question what exactly is TO's definition of a successful program (see BBall and Baseball aside from football).....I question Bo's basic abilities as a HC AND a DC. Yes I don't think Bo is the genius DC some think he is. You want to see great DC's - go check Michigan, South Carolina, LSU, Bama. Heck even Oregon and WI have better defenses than NU and I don't see any need for that fancy Peso junk that Bo has trade marked. After watching the bowl season and seeing what real football looks like I've gone out and bought the biggest face palm contraption I could get my hands on.

You can drink all the KA you want. I'm off the Bo bus.

And in case you still think this is "hyperbole", go back and re-read the first part of Shatel's article where he talks about Husker angst: http://www.omaha.com...IGRED/701079799
I would be more concerned if it wasn't a trend nationally. There have been multiple stories about how games have suffered.
I think the problem with the bowl are that threre are way too many bowls in the first place. Who really gives a rats @ss about 20 of the 35 worthless bowl games that are played. A good example of this is did anyone know that Louisian-Lafette played Arkansas State yesterday?

Austin, I'm not sure you meant to say Solich recruits better than Bo. If so, I'd really disagree.
That is pretty obvious. Bo can recruit, the frustrating part is that he doesn't make it a priority that it needs to be. Which is proven by still having 7 schollys available this close to signing day.

FAIL

It was Northern Ilinois and Arkansas State. Yes I watched it as we are playing Arkansas State this year. Malzon(spelling) brought his top running back from Auburn with him. Could be challenging next year who knows

That goes to show how much I really care about that worthless bowl. If Arky State gives NU trouble next year, Bo will need to go because that would be just like Callahan vs Ball State bad.
