UCLA making the Husker game a big event to draw fans

i really never really thought about any of this: how big the rose bowl is, how dismal the bruin fan base is, how well we travel. this would have been a fun game to plan to travel to. they will be giving away tickets at kickoff, then just find the most red and sit by them. i would love to see 50-50, and then after watching the heartfelt movie about friendship, watch the huskers outnumber the bruins in the rose bowl. (hopefully i will have another chance to travel to the rose bowl to watch the huskers play this season).

There was over 500 tickets sold to go watch Johhny Stanton and his eagles. Expect that number to climb.

How I feel after every single one of your posts...

We should have a great turnout...................would love to see over half the stadium in red. Make it a home game people!

Does Johnny have a home game this weekend? If so, you know Big Red will have a presence there!
I'm going to guess that's what he was eluding to. I think there was talk earlier in the year about Big Red fans road tripping before the game to check out Stanton and making a sea of red at his game.

There were some great travel packages for this game. My pops got hotel, tickets, plane and his share of the rental car for $370-ish. It was under $400, for certain. That's insane. Had I known (thanks, dad! ) I would have gone.

That's a pretty sweet deal. I'm extremely annoyed that one of my friends just had to get married this Saturday. I had been looking forward to going out there for a couple years now. I'll just have to wait until October for my away game.

They're going to celebrate losing to Nebraska with fireworks? Seems awkward. How many UCLA fans are going to stick around for fireworks when their team is losing 55-10 late in the 3rd quarter?

i think this is just a demonstration of how hospitable the rose bowl will be to the overwhelming number of husker fans celebrating their victory. we chanted 'heisman' for ricky, they are lighting fireworks for us. looks like there might be some competition for that 'greatest fans' title.

Well, to be honest....we always do fireworks for the first night game after we hire a new coach. AND...we always hand out posters at the first game. So nothing too unusual about either of those things.

And...we've sucked for so long now, trust me, a few fireworks and posters are going to do nothing to bring the bandwagon fans back to the games. The only thing that will do that is a couple years of winning. Pretty much the only people who come to our games now are the true diehards.

well, hang in there. it is bound to turn around. and when it does, it will be all the sweeter knowing you were there through the tough times.
