  1. Not sure if this has been talked about yet, but read this on Yahoo article about this years bowl games. Not a rumor I expected about Nebraska admins.

Gratuitous Gruden rumor: Nebraska administrators have already told Bo Pelini that another defensive surrender like the Cornhuskers had in the Big Ten championship game will cost him his job. Gruden already has agreed to terms if it happens. Winning a title at Nebraska will further his history of making Bill Callahan look bad by comparison.

Edit: Thanks HuskerNationNick I didnt see that.

did u read the rest of them too?

Ha no I didnt, probably should have. I didn't really care what they had to say about other bowls. It didn't sound like something Nebraska would say to Bo.

  3. Overall good win and good offensive play-calling by Beck, but I was a little puzzled why he telegraphed the power play with backside pulling guard with Imani Cross so much. On the 3rd and 1 play on the series right after the "no-touchdown" TD controversy, even the announcers were all over it when they saw Cross lineup in the I-formation. Would have loved to see Beck pull a switcheroo there and do a quick fullback dive since PSU was obviously expecting the play. But overall the second half was pretty well-managed by Beck, and it was good to see him establish a rhythm with Ameer and the O-line.

Kinda like Blake Bell at OU

  4. I guess the Big 10 Network mentioned that in an article earlier this year but I heard about it last night when the announcers were talking about it.

In watching the running backs, it was impossible not to notice true freshman Imani Cross. The 6-1, 225-pounder from Georgia has been described to me as being “country strong.” To wit, the kid did 41 pull-ups and 200 push-ups during a conditioning test prior to camp.

That very impressive, I can't wait to see what the next few years look like when he gets more playing time.

  5.

You have no idea what you are talking about, do you? How do penalties, turnovers and whatever else you want to complain about equate into losing the team?

Can you tell me why we're a top team for fumbles every year? Can you tell me why Martinez still has horrible form? Why we have costly penalties that lead to scoring drives for the other team? Bo doesn't know how to stop these mistakes.

  6. From what I saw, Pelini handled it well. He didn't appear to blow up at Bell, get in his face when Bell flipped out, or anything. I guess some people are wishing he'd pulled a Cheesefries Mangino and grabbed the facemask, yanked his head around, etc?

Agreed. I don't know why people look into this and turn it into a negative. Bell had a NONSENSE penalty, Bo said something to him, which every coach should, and Bell went over board. I hope he has to do some conditioning drills when he gets back to Lincoln for the lack of respect.

If Bo was losing this team, you would see the team give up, and not still play hard. Take away those 3 turnovers, it would have been a different game.

Bo lost the team a long time ago, we constantly are a top team for turnovers. Penalties, turnovers, late subs and unprepared players so we have to call timeouts. Bo doesn't have it, he's got one more year and then he's gone.

A "lost" team would have given up yesterday. This one did not.

Nebraska got lucky yesterday, I guess no he hasn't lost the team but bottom line he's not a good coach. You can't say oh we're rebuilding, we're in a new conference and no BS that Bo is learning, he's never been a HC. We struggle to compete with OK teams and constantly have costly turnovers.

  8. Criticize the defense or offense all you want. I don't care. I will take 12 one point wins a year over one 30 point loss a year. I'm proud of the Huskers on the road today. Way to come back!!!!

What about 1 point wins over teams you should beat by 30 and at least two 30 point losses a year? That's where we are at now. Your statement is a far off land from reality. Winning 12 games by one point would mean we are able to win games against tough opponents in primetime when it counts. I would take that in a heartbeat. However, we routinely get dump trucked in those spots while leaving a giant sh!t stain on the field.

    ^ This

You said it HuskerShark, we looked terrible today.

  9.

So your regretting hiring a head coach, with no previous experience who is still learning? I wish I was like all these doubters who could do the job and take us to a championship game year 1. With an inexperienced coach, you take strides, and most of Husker fans wouldn't understand that. Quite embarrassing too, having Husker fans on public blogs crying and demanding the firing of their head coach, let alone demanding that your starting QB should be benched.

I don't regret it at all. Bo has the passion and the drive to do what is best for the program. Takes patience, and I don't think there is one coach who took their team to a National Title within their first 5 years, as their first HC'ing gig. If I am wrong, please let me know, but I have never heard, nor seen it.

Expecting a new coach to take a bad team to the championship in year 1 is stupid. But who here thought Bo would be able to do that?

I agree it takes patience to build back a program that was struggling but it’s been 5 years and we are a mediocre team. We consistently are one of the top teams in turnovers and penalties and it never fails we get blown out by teams that aren't that good. I can understand loses and I don’t complain about 9 or 10 wins, but it’s the blowouts and turnovers that I don’t understand.

If we fire Bo now then no one will want to coach at Nebraska, next year will be different without Wisconsin or Ohio St on our regular schedule. But if we have these problems next year, Bo is definitely gone.

  10. Are you serious?

Our defense was fighting to keep us in that game. Which they did, up until the end when we handed them that turnover deep in our own territory.

I appluad the defense for having spirit and not giving up even after getting hit in the mouth. They were right to get amped up after every big fourth quarter stop. Without that fire, we lay down and give the game up. We lost, in the end, but we went down swinging.

Sorry I have to disagree, the defense did not keep us in the game. They gave up 600+ yards, thats not keeping us in the game. How many missed tackles and wide open WR's were there? You applaud the defense for not giving up? This is college football, they should be going hard no matter what. If they aren't then there's a spot on the bench.

  11. I honestly think by the end of the year this loss is not going to be that bad. Looking at their schedule, UCLA is a legitimate 10 win time. Newweasel brought a lot of talent to that place. When it's all said and done, this game will probably not be the one we shouldntve lost. We still have Minnesota, Northwestern, Penn St., and (shivers, gags) Iowa.

I don't mind losing to UCLA, like you said they have some talent. But what bothers me is our defense was terrible (missed tackles, wide open WRs). If we lose but played well that's one thing, but to give up 600+ yards on defense, that's just embarrassing. After the first two games I'm not impressed with our defense, I don't understand what Bo is doing and how they could be this bad. Hopefully something clicks and we get better but im worried about 5+ loses this year. Just my opinion.
