I don't really care what their fans think but I would fully expect their coaches and players expect to beat Nebraska and think it highly possible. Why wouldn't they? What has this Husker team done to indicate Fresno has no chance? "Nothing" is the answer to that question. USC and Utah are not exactly FAU and McNeese St. Anybody who thinks this will be easy is deluding themselves. We've shown we can nullify any gimme effect that might be possible. Every game will be a challenge.

Wow, sometimes I a swear you guys think every game is going to play out the exact same way. Each game is a different entity all its own. You really don't think this team will have a little more focus and motivation to show everyone that they are better than they showed last Saturday.

Fresno was good last year, not this year. They have looked really bad so far this year. USC is good so that is to be expected. Utah is a lower middle in the Pac 12 at best. I would only rate CU,WSU and Cal below them at present and they thumped Fresno.

If NU would have won big last week I would be more worried about this game than I am now.

FAU was the first game in a long, long time that i would say Nebraska handled an opponent the way they should've.

Statements like this are what make people lose all kinds of credibility.

How about Southern Miss last year? Illinois? Purdue?

Southern Miss, Arkansas State, Idaho State, Michigan, Minnesota, and Iowa in 2012?

Chattanooga, Wyoming, Minnesota, Michigan State, and Iowa in 2011?

I can keep going if you want. Nebraska routinely dispatches teams the way they should, year in and year out. Do they also have clunkers every year? Yes. But you can't ignore the positives as well.

  2. Kelu on special teams kickoff coverage made some great plays last week. His stock is rising. I agree with your two guys on D, for sure.

    Kalu*

But I completely agree, Kalu has been impressive, he seems to make the tackle or be around the ball whenever he is on the field. I would really like to see him more in our nickel sets, maybe splitting time 50/50 with Cockrell (who has not been impressive at all, though he hasn't been on the field too much, either).

  3. This isn't a dink and dunk game where we pass to replace the run and need high completion rate in order to replicate the run game.

This is really the key point. You need a high completion percentage when you aren't churning out 4, 5, 6 (or 11 in Ameer's case) yards per carry. But we get incredible production from our running game and therefore don't need to complete an extremely high percentage (which is what comes from working a dink and dunk offense). The passing game, for us, appears so far to be a vertical game, a way to stretch the field, keep the safeties back, make the linebackers honest, and allow some space for our incredible trio of RB's to go to work.

At the same time, I would like to see more polish from Armstrong in the short throwing game. He missed Abdullah once in the flat when he had one guy (10 yards away) between him and the endzone. Also missed Bell on an out-route in the 2nd (I believe this was on the possession where we went 3 straight passes around the FAU 27), as well as should have thrown at least one pick (one time, he just didn't see a LB drifting back and threw it right into the LB on a crossing route to Moore). Regardless, the deep ball perfection really makes up for it, and if he can begin to polish that short throwing game, he could mature into a special player, especially with his attitude (his words in the post-game presser were great).

  4. There are still Bo supporters, sadly, just as there were Callahan supporters in 2007. A lot of them are probably the same people, almost all of whom are sniveling, weak, self-conscious, boys (not men) who are afraid to strive for greatness out of fear of falling short, and therefore fill themselves on the gluttony of mediocrity. Frankly, they can all GTFO.

I admire your ability to generalize about individual people who you know nothing about.

Also, I think Bo should be fired. So don't pull that card.

  5. When has Taylor ever been booed in the stadium? :o

I think Taylor would get a rousing ovation, well deserved.

Exactly.. you guys who are saying he'll be booed, did you ever go to a game he played in? When the PA announcer said at the beginning of every game 'starting at QB, Taylor Martinez!!!" there was always a very loud ovation. It will be much louder for Senior Day. You guys are crazy if you think otherwise.

  6. Drop the ref's stuff. If a team really wants to win the ref's calls won't matter, like today.

Stupid. what if one team is only barely, barely better than another team? enough that one call can sway the game? then the refs making a bad call can decide the game. luckily today, that wasn't the case. but refs can decide a game, no matter how bad a team 'wants' (LOL) to win.

  7.

Honestly, it's crap like this why you Bo-lievers can't be taken seriously.

Jesus, get off your high horse. You don't have to be some Bo Pelini fanboy to think the Nebraska Cornhuskers could have/should have won a game.

It's a Husker fan forum. Posting positive things about the TEAM doesn't equate to some slavish infatuation with the COACH.

Sure. But when it goes from "positive thinking" to "stubborn unreasonableness" it starts to smell like Bo-lieving.

Anyone but the most ridiculous Bo fanboy would admit that if MSU had gone up 31-14 with 10 minutes left, we almost certainly lose that game. It's almost math at that point.

I'm sure everyone, even 'Bo-lievers', thinks that if we had gone down 31-14 with ten minutes left, we were in big trouble. But we were almost in as big of trouble when Taylor threw the pick to keep it 24-14 with ten minutes left and MSU ball. We ended up getting the ball back with 9 minutes left down 10. It is a big difference, but one touchdown in one minute is certainly possible.. I would say we maybe had a 5% chance of winning the game at that point, when Taylor threw the pick to put us down 10 with 10 minutes, at best (Yes, I know that is ridiculous speculation). If we throw that pick and they score and we go down 31-14, we maybe have a 1% chance. Either way, the odds were very low. But we were able to do it when we had a 5% chance. Maybe that team could've done it with a 1% chance. That's the point.

  8. Jake Long and Kenny Bell both played against Michigan.

Long looked lost on every single play he was in. Either he's really rusty or really not good. Foster looks bad at TE, too. That's our weakest spot on the whole team, though Carter has played okay (seems to block well, hasn't made many catches but hasn't been on the receiving end of many throws. Tough to tell if that's on him or the QB).

  9. I was waiting for a flag but the refs are so out of it they didnt notice it was a forward pass and Sterup was way up field. It was epic though.

... The pass was completed behind the line of scrimmage. There is no such thing as illegal blocker downfield in that situation.
