  1. Everyone's STUPID observations and comment's just confirm's why I left that STATE -Do you think this.. What if we do this.... So & So said this... WE HAVE CLASS - Don't come to LA -We don't want to be resposible when ya'll get lost and sodimized. :thumbs

  2. I don't think Pinkard is a big enough player. If Jarrett, or Cushing or Malaeuga (sp) got hurt, you might see the media make excuses.

Once again, however, it comes down to our O-Line. If ZT gets time, he could have a big day against USC's young secondary.

I watched part of the USC/Arkansas game, and perhaps it was due to USC's front seven, but the Hogs' QB looked TERRIBLE.

If we can run effectively to set up the play-action - we've got a shot.

Pinkard is they're best defensive player - it's a big loss no matter what, he was one of their captians.

  3. It was nice meeting you, Eric and hoyamannn. So now I have met three of you, the third being Blackshirt last season. Sorry I didn't meet anyone else last Saturday. I hope I meet many more of you throughout the season. Don't be strangers now.

USC center: NU won't be surprise

    BY LEE BARFKNECHT

    WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The next opponent on USC's football schedule is Nebraska.

To Trojan center Ryan Kalil, it could just as well be "Anybody State."

That's not a knock on the Huskers, the All-America candidate said. But after winning 46 of the past 48 games, that's how USC operates.

"We've become accustomed to not really caring who we play," Kalil said. "We worry about ourselves and what we do."

    Why? Experience, he said.

"We've seen so many defensive fronts and blitzes - hey, there's only so much anybody can do," Kalil said. "We have a lot of experienced guys to read whatever comes up.

"It's not something we're too worried about. It's not about Nebraska. It's about us."

USC showed critics on Saturday night that it plans to be in the national championship hunt again by pounding Arkansas 50-14 in its opener. After an open date this week, USC takes on Nebraska in Los Angeles in a 7 p.m. CDT game on Sept. 16.

The Trojans returned only 11 starters from last year's team that lost to Texas in the national title game. Doubters wondered if the dynasty was crumbling.

But against Arkansas, the Trojans' defense dominated from the start, the offense came to life in the second half and the kicking game sparkled. They also finished plus five in turnovers.

"I feel good. I feel good about it. I feel pretty good," USC coach Pete Carroll said in a sing-song voice that drew a laugh. "We did a lot of stuff.

"This is really a satisfying victory for us. For the coaches who have been around awhile, this is a big deal to us because we know there was so much question in the air about where we would be and what we would be all about."

Much of the question was at quarterback, where fourth-year junior John David Booty made his first start.

After some spotty play in the first half, Booty bounced back to finish 24 of 36 for 261 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions.

"It took me the first quarter to get some type of rhythm," he said. "I felt like I was playing really fast. The second half, things slowed down."

USC lost 11 players in the NFL draft last spring. But by game's end, Kalil said, things started to feel like last year.

"It's a definite advantage to have guys who have been in so many situations - being down, being up, on the road, in loud stadiums," he said. "Our younger guys can feed off the older guys who have seen all these situations.

"The biggest thing for us is to never let our guard down."

They're best Defensive player who starts at CB tore his ACL in the game the other night (the kid said he heard his own knee pop) - it's a Big loss for them, He's having an MRI tomorrow but even Carroll said he's 99% sure he's out. Also texas had a player arrested on pot and weapons charges last night - not sure if he's a starter or not though :bonez

  5. Yes, I know it's hard to believe, but I have found out what the final outcome of the USC/Nebraska game is going to be according to EA Sports NCAA 2007.

I just finished up a game of USC vs. Nebraska at USC stadium...and the final score:

    Nebraska 28, USC 7

That's right folks, Nebraska will win.

I know it's hard to believe that I can see the future...but once the game is played for real, you will see I am right.

Taylor will go 8 for 16 with 1 touchdown, and 176 passing yards.

Rushing yardage will only total 143 yards...with a few lengthy runs.

The defense will be king of the game as we'll hold them to 194 total yards... -9 rushing yards, and 12 for 21 passing percentage.

At halftime, it will be 21-7 with USC scoring a 72 yard passing touchdown right before the end of the first half.

Just thought you'd like to know.

    Sorry for the spoiler though.

  6. Hey everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself. I've been reading posts and comments here for a little while and was finally able to get registered on the board (email issues). I'm really excited! Ive been a die hard Husker fan since I was five years old (I'm 32 now). If you can believe it, I just recently joined the computer age. You all have no idea how great it is for a california guy (L.A.) to be able to talk and read about husker football in a forum like this! This is the best and most informative board out there, I'm proud to now be a part of it. (I go into a rant now!)

I'm so tired of all the USC bandwagons out here. You wouldn't believe it, it's unreal. Everyone has a SC hat or T-shirt on now, bumper stickers, car flags, license plate frames, etc. You just didn't see that in the 80's and 90's. People in california tend to wear the colors of whatever team is doing well at the time and it's rediculous. You can imagine all the Laker gear I see. Everyone around here talks about how good USC is and how Nebraska doesn't have a chance. What these SC fans need to realize is that while they weren't watching college football (because USC stunk) Nebraska was dominating and deserves some respect! There have been some down years lately, but us Husker fans we always remain loyal. We don't discard our colors for whatever team happens to be doing well that year. What I'm trying to say is, I can't wait for the Huskers to come in to the coliseum and shut these loud mouth bandwagons up!

Learn to f'ing FIGHT and you won't have to put up with their sh#t

  7. my guess is 20-25k.  With some killer tailgate parties.

    GBR

My friend owns a bar called BLUE 32 in Hermosa Beach and he is going to have a TENT in the usc parking lot - $50.00 includes FOOD, DRINK, and GO-GO DANCERS - I suggest going, his bar has 10 of the HOTTEST girls in the South Bay area that will be there + he want's NEBRASKA FANS to come join in the MAYHEM. :cheers

  8. Even though I think what his mother said doomed him, you can't blame his mother for saying that. Bottom line, it's his own fault. He's the one who left practice.

Crouch did the same thing in "98" I'm cool with Beck being gone. These kids have to realize the COACHES RUN THE TEAM not the players.

  9. there are a group of us (6) that will be in attendance. We are staying on manhattan beach, we need a tailgate party!!!!!! Anyone interested?

Make sure you go to BLUE 32 in Hermosa Beach - 6 of the HOTTEST girls in the Manhattan / Hermosa Beach area work there. :cheers

  10. While I think - I hope - that Callahan will be a good hire, I agree.  I could not find fault with any of Solich's coaching - I felt that recruiting was the key.  Seems to me that the level of talent has declined just enough to cause these problems.

What I would have liked to have seen is the creation of a "recruiting department", so to speak.  Something that identifies the absolute essential, top-notch recruits, and that does nothing but set up the recruit for the visits from the coaches and so forth.

While this might have been going on at Nebraska - I don't know - it seems that recruiting was the issue...not the coaching of Xs and Os.

It's called the Recruiting Cordinator - Scott Dowling was and now Shaun Watson replaced him. They have always had one. Steve Pederson was the RC in the mid eighties.

  11. Epley leaving Huskers

    By the Lincoln Journal Star

Boyd Epley, the man behind the muscle at NU, is leaving the Huskers after 37 years.

Epley, an associate athletic director at Nebraska, has been hired by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as director of coaching performance.

He will officially assume his duties with the NSCA on Aug. 1.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for the NSCA to bring Boyd back into the NSCA family,” said NSCA executive director Bob Jursnick. “By all accounts he is the most successful and recognized strength and conditioning coach ever, and his experience and knowledge will be an asset to our membership.”

Nebraska won five national championships in football during Epley’s 34-year stretch as head strength coach.

“I’m excited to return to the NSCA and help continue its remarkable growth and serve our membership,” Epley said. “I believe we at the NSCA are uniquely positioned as a resource and driving force in the field of strength and conditioning education and athletic performance.”

GOOD LUCK and BEST WISHES!!!!!!!!!!! :cheers:cheers

  12. I hate it. Seriously why are we signing with teams like 6 years before the seasons, for all we know UCLA could be terrible in 6 years or get cought in a scandal and having them just be a terrible team when we play them. Just like 4 years ago UCLA sucked. We needed to just wait and get a f'ing SEC team

Every team schedules this way - Do you know how hard it is to schedule game's Dosen't matter if they're god or bad then an LOS ANGELES game is always good.

  13. I got this email a few minutes ago...

"Huskers Announce Home-and-Home Football Series with UCLA"

We are pleased to inform you of another exciting series with a high-profile football program. The Nebraska Cornhuskers have agreed to a home-and-home series with UCLA for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

The series will begin with Nebraska traveling to the historic Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. , to take on the Bruins on Sept. 8, 2012. The two teams will face each other in a rematch the following season, with UCLA visiting Lincoln and Memorial Stadium on Sept. 14, 2013.

Nebraska has faced the Bruins on 10 previous occasions, with Nebraska winning six of the past seven meetings between the two schools. In the last home-and-home series, Nebraska won both games, 14-13 at UCLA in 1993 and 49-21 in Memorial Stadium in 1994.

The two games with UCLA will be announced to the media later this afternoon and are the first announced contests for Nebraska in the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Earlier this spring, Nebraska announced a home-and-home series with Virginia Tech for the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Please see Huskers.com for the full media release later today.

I love games in my backyard.

  14. Wow is all I have to say after seeing this. Even if you don't play the game this is what they are calling the top 25 QBs in the game :rollin

    :rollin

    What a joke for ratings

You realize this is a f****t video game, Who the f#*k care's what a stupid f'ing video game rate's players. It has no impact on anything related to NEBRASKA football. BTW you should be trying to f#*k girls not playing video games.

  15. I have seen and played against some of the great talent that Millard North has produced over the last few years and it is almost garenteed that MN pumps out at least 3 D-I recruites per year :thumbs . Knowing that the past few years many of their star players have all gone to Iowa. I think that the university of Iowa football program has a mind control machine over coach patito. Every QB that they have had for the last 4 years has gone to Iowa. And their line is normaly very solid since they run an option offense. I would like to see BC get some more players out of there .... the only problem with that is ... they still run the "old style" Nebraska option game and so do alot of the High schools in Nebraska. I know old habits die hard :bang but until the HS coaches in NE start moving to more a WC offense it is going to be harder for us to get in state recruites on offense.

    GBR :restore2

P.S. Before I get bashed for what I said ... that does not mean that NE does not push out good WC football players ... i.e. Nate Swift, Niles Paul, etc...

There's no use bringing kid's in that don't fit the system. Until they adapt to Callahan's offense I wouldn't worry about it too much. If they do adapt and are still leaving the state then there's a problem.

  16. here's my take on whats going to happen over the next few years: if Moevao signs with us, he will redshirt in '07 possibly challenge for the starting spot in '08 or push beck to kick it into seventh gear the rest of his stay and help NU get to 10 wins on a normal basis and then the touted qb recruits will come flooding in. again, this is just my view on it, feel free to let me know what you think.

He already stated he would redshirt in 2006 then compete in 2007, He has 4 years to play 3.

  17. NO Kidding!  Kinda makes you wonder what they were putting in the water during the early 90's.

Creatine. From what I have heard, NU was one of the first schools to give their football players creatine.

NEBRASKA is still probably the only college that employs a FULL TIME Dietitian - At one time there was steroids, but once they made it illegal NEBRASKA taught everyone else how to do it without roid's. The rest of college football owes Dr.Tom Osborne and Boyd Epply for creating the weight training programs. Today there is around 50 Head Strength Coaches around the nation that started under Boyd Epply.

  18. i like what i have seen and read so far.  Rivals had an interview posted, and after reading it i would say Moevao seems quite intelligent.

Im not going to compare and contrast Moevao and Beck because i have not seen enough from Beck to really give him a grade.  Sure he's 1-10 with an INT but he hasnt played enough and gone through the motions yet.  Moevao isnt even in a Husker uniform yet.

To expect Beck to command and control like Zac Taylor is outrageous.  Zac Taylor is older, and Zac Taylor has actually gone through the motions of being humbled and wrecked and rebuilt again.  Beck has already been ripped and humbled, so there really is nowhere else to go but up.

Lyle qualified academically out of high school which is helping him get out of JUCO at the end of the year after one year.

I just got a myspace email from Lyle, he wanted me to post a link to this Highlight video. http://www.elcofootball.com/prospects/2007...07/lmoevao.html There's a poll on the page to vote where he should go NEBRASKA or oregon state - VOTE BABY!!!
