  1. There is no reason to keep scoring with the first stringers in. The worst night in my life time of being a Husker fan. Not mad, just so down, so lost and no light at the end of the tunnel

The first stringers aren't in. There hasn't been a pass since the second quarter. Gorden is a 3rd string RB and White is second string. Phillips is 3rd string but our other 2 QBs are injured. Stop whining. The Huskers defense is atrocious.

  2. So (sorry to keep this going)...one of the Nebraska assistant coaches had a different perspective than some of you guys:

Spoke to a Nebraska assistant football coach who couldn't stop gushing about the Wisconsin crowd on Saturday night, how alive it was, how they chanted and sang songs in unison. He wondered what it would take to get a Nebraska crowd that worked up. For one thing, get the students closer and in better seats. That's a high-wire act because of priority seating prices. But you need to take care of the future. I got the feeling the Husker coaches would like to see their fans and students have some of the Wisconsin traditions. It will be interesting to see NU officials and fans make their tour of the Big Ten stadiums. Be interesting to see if changes are made in Memorial Stadium.

  3. Unrelated to anything: is your basketball team any good? If you guys are awful, I would love to see a "toilet bowl" type rivalry between UNL and Iowa. You guys would have me rooting for you every singly time.

  4. Yet another post rationalizing and justifying the lack of sportsmanship and poor behavior of this large student body. It seems many wiscy fans are embarrassed by it and would like it to change but just can't get beyond the reality of it. We have been going through the process of selecting a college for our HS senior son. Wisconsin was one of the schools we were looking at. It's off our list now. It is apparent wiscy is not properly helping to develop well rounded people. Hopefully you get a handle on dealing with your problems. You've at least made the first big step in realizing there is a problem. Now you just need to do something about it.

Look, no offense, but academically we're one of the best public schools in the nation. Far, far better than Nebraska (this isn't meant as an insult, but it is true). Wisconsin isn't exactly an easy school to get into, and there's high competition for every incoming class. You don't want your kid to look at our school because of what happens at football games? That's irrational, at best. On the flip-side, I'm sure someone will be more than happy to take his spot...if he had a shot of getting in.

It's also very curious that this was posted from a Michigan State University computer.

You'd be amazed how much this explains the post.

Btw, definitely my favorite video to come out of the game:

  6.

Hi pot, I'm kettle. Pretty funny post considering 90% of the posters on here are saying how bad Badger fans are. And im sure that elderly couple that I saw badger fans harrasing and pouring beer on were really being pricks...please. And quit acting like Wisconsin is paradise or something... please.

I doubt that happened. If it did, it was probably the OSU fans provoking them. I remember we invited some OSU fans to tailgate with us, and they told us to "Go f**k ourselves." It happened multiple times, although the vitriol spewed by the Buckeyes' fans varied. Classy, OSU.

Wisconsin is a gorgeous state and Madison is a beautiful city. I'm sorry we all can't have the landfill that is Cleveland in our state. Like I said--bitter, bitter fans.

  7. Hey all, first time post here.. as you can probably tell im a tOSU fan.

Let me just say.. Wisconsin fans are the worst fans in the BIG. Now, I know tOSU fans are bad too.. we are really bad... but Wisc fans are the worst. I saw them verbally attack elderly OSU fans as well as throw beer at them. They basically chased every tOSU fan out of the area after they beat us. My experience was so bad that for me personally its a mission for anytime we play them in Columbus that I go down there and give it back to them so Im sure you can imagine how this has snowballed over the years.

That being said, Camp Randall is a hornets nest and I do respect the environment...

As far as the Shoe, you will probably run into some fans that will act the same way here but the difference is post game is usually more amicable. In my experience.. tOSU fans act the worst towards other team fans when the other team fans expect to come in and roll us.. (a.k.a Texas fans). That being said, every tOSU fan I have talked to seemed to have much respect for NU so I don't think you will get the same reception here that you got in Camp Randall.

Well, let's be realistic about OSU fans--most of them are just bitter because they live in Ohio. Honestly, I'd probably hate myself, too, if I had to live there. Your fans are awful, though. I have never come across a more disrespectful, bitter, and angry fanbase than the one that visited last year. I'm always gracious to incoming fans (and found the vast majority of NU ones to be great), but the OSU fans were, on the whole, a bunch of pricks.

Also, to anyone at the game, this is pretty cool: http://www.uwbadgers.com/fancam

  8. Pretty sure the only vulgar chant I took part in was the "f#*k Lee Corso" one. I can guarantee that Badger fans will never let him forget his choice yesterday.

Also, you guys are in desperate need of a bar guide! You took over the super-sh**ty bars on State Street--Mondays, Whisky River, etc. Next time you go to Madison, hit up Maduro or the Old Fashioned. They're much nicer bars and aren't filled to the brim with undergrads.

  9. Oh, the "If we're not nice to Nebraska you'll hold our economy hostage" card. Most people don't care, including myself. You're better off appealing to my sense of human decency than my pocketbook. that's just me.

I'm holding no one hostage. But as a small business manager, I can tell you that I'll take every penny I can get. And driving any customer away is never something I would do. But to each his own I guess.

Eh, whatever. Madison has one of the healthiest economies in the nation, which is impressive considering how things are going elsewhere. Like I said earlier--we were courteous to the Nebraska fans, drank with them, made sure they were eating (cheese and brats are pretty big here). The first bit of true hostility I actually saw was on Regent Street, and it was a douchey NU fan who was unrepresentative of the overall fan base.

Students will be students. It's just something you should expect. I'm guessing the older crowd was super hospitable and really nice. I expect the same from the grad students (like me!), too.

  10. Everything i have ever heard about Badger fans is negative.

I have some friends that go to wisconsin and i think the problem is they get so drunk they can't control themselves.

I grew up rooting for the goofs and i always hated Wiscy fans.

Of course you do, but then again, that's probably the Viking in you. Does it suck to root for an NFL team that's an embarrassment to the league and will never, ever win a Super Bowl?

Dude, take it easy. These things tend to be cyclical. Just a few short years ago that "embarrassment" was in the NFCCG...

Hehe, they also really learned what it's like to have Brett Favre as your QB...

As for the whole Packers/Badgers thing...it's true. Life revolves around football in Wisconsin, and as soon as a Badgers game is over, the whole state is looking forward to the Packers game the next day. The vast majority of people in Madison are diehard Badgers fans, but people here also love the Packers. Honestly, what do you expect?

  12. Using the students as a means to judge a fan base is completely unfair, imho. Unless those students take things to entirely new levels (like the Colorado students being thrown out in '05, or the rumors that our band got urine dumped on them in '07 at Missouri).

I'm actually really interested to see what the NU fans who attended the game thought. Forget the actual student section--the two biggest things we do are a very unique "wave" around the stadium multiple times, and then, of course, "Jump Around." I've been to other schools, too, and have gotten harassed by students--definitely something to be expected.

I will say this: at last night's game in the student section, instead of tossing around a beach ball, students were batting around a giant, blow-up penis. Was it immature? Absolutely, but I still thought it was hilarious. I don't think I've ever heard of us doing anything as bad as the urine--I know that we upset Michigan in the 90s and students pulled off a bleacher seat and threw it over the side of the stadium. That was pretty bad (and criminal).

Oh, and by the way, totally unrelated: I did my undergrad at Buffalo, so I just wanted to say I'm a huge Turner Gill fan. I hope he manages to turn things around at Kansas...they're in desperate need of some success.

  13. Really? Sour grapes? That's because it's just downright impossible for Wisconsin to be classless?

    a-hole. a-hole. a-hole.

    Eat sh#t. f#*k you.

You have classless fans (students), and a good football team. The result of the game doesn't change the fact that your fans are piles of scum, we'd still be saying it even if we won.

Wow. I think your generalizing is a bit absurd. Piles of scum? Really? Look, I'm sorry you guys lost, but grouping all Badgers fans together and calling us "scum" isn't exactly classy. How ironic.

I'm a student and I was at the game. As usual, I wasn't particularly thrilled with how the student section behaved. I'm still disturbed by the "shoot him like a horse chant" for injured opposing players. I find it to be horrible. As a grad student, we usually take a back seat to the chants and are quite a bit more reserved. But to call us piles of scum? It's silly, and ridiculous.

I found most of the Nebraska fans to be great--we hung out with a lot of them prior to the game and invited them to drink/eat with us as they walked by. Tailgating is loads of fun, and we're more than happy to accommodate opposing fans. Once you get into Camp Randall, all bets are off. It's a very, very hostile atmosphere, and there's a reason we hardly ever lose at home. But you know what? It's part of the game. When I was walking over, some obnoxious Nebraska fans started yelling obscenities and screaming at us. Do you think I group all of you together as douchebags because of those fans? Of course not.

I'm guessing most of your fans had a great time before the game, and then were unhappy throughout the actual game--likely because of the way things went. The atmosphere was electric, it was a ton of fun, and these were the best waves and "Jump Around" I've ever taken part in. Just my two cents.

Oh, as a side note--Iowa fans deserve the hatred. Our rivalry with them is bad. I haven't found any of their fans to be gracious or respectful, so I have no problem dishing the crap right back in their face. I've found MSU fans to be pretty awful, too.
