don't need him if he's the type that is going to just walk out on his guys. b!tch move grow up. hopefully it isn't true but you just don't quit.
Disagree, we need him. Without a doubt our most talented linemen. We do need to put up these antics. Wouldnt you get pissed if ol dumbass Cotton top was inept at evaluating talent and played favorites.

Do the numbers for ameer reflect the muffed punts?
This. I think Ameer only had 1 fumble as a RB. IIRC, he muffed a punt and fumbled 2 kickoff returns.
At least 2 as an I-Back. One against wyblowming and another in the cap1 bowl.

Drinking game. Finish your drink if Brent says this.
Did this for the wiscy game last year. I do not recommend it.

Hopefully he has better footing than Dan Alexander. That dude would trip over dryer lint.

Let me say.....I am a husker til I die. Because I know, I'm going to get blasted by posting this.
But if we don't get the obvious taken care of, it will be a long season.....
Offense
Burkhead is an outstanding back....no breakaway speed.
Our offensive line is average....at best. They are NOT physical. Which means burkhead is going to wear down.
Martinez....pretty obvious here. Great Athlete, but not a qb.
Defense
We better find some speed and I mean fast.
D-line: Steinkhuler has been a bust. All the hype around this guy and I see nothing but him standing straight up and not getting around people. Can we please stop losing containment and get some pressure on a QB. Meredith needs to be moved inside to tackle he is not a DE.
I see a 7 win season. I just can't see us making that much improvement over last year. South Carolina exposed our offense. We are too reliable on burkhead. Martinez can't throw a piece of paper in a trashcan. I do NOT like Big 10 football. I know folks think it is physical. Big friggin deal. Championships run through the SEC, wear speed kills. Period. We need to adopt that style.
Things will be different this year. Last year was our first year in the Big 10, and it was a rude awakening of sorts. No tape to see what teams like to do against us, not against other opponents. Now we have that tape, we also have continuity with the same offensive system 2 years in a row. The offensive line is an area of concern, but in all honesty you cannot guage how your OL will do in practice; even in the Osborne years, the defensive unit would always have the upper hand in practice. Do I expect the 1994 Pipeline v2.0? No, but I do expect to see improvement. A-Rod to tackle is HUGE. He is better apt to play at offensive tackle. Choi and Long are two guys that could probably hold a candle to some of the linemen from days gone by. I do not think Burkhead will take as much punishment this year, with the emergence of Mike Marrow, who is an absolute hoss. Abdullah is a nice situational type player who will be good on toss plays, screens, and the perfect play for him would be the "Inside Scissors Reverse," that JR Superstar made a nice bunch of yards off of. Imani Cross, the freshmen I-Back from Georgia, I think will surprise people. At 6 foot 1 220 lbs, he showed up on campus and did 41 pull-ups. Is doing 41 pull-ups a good indication of how good an I-Back will be? No, but it is a good indication of overall strength, athletic ability, and work ethic. Martinez does still worry all of us, but he did show glimpses of maturity throughout last season.
As to defense, this could very possibly be a "no-name defense." Meaning, no superstars, but just solid as a whole unit. A la the 2003 unit under Bo's first stint here in 'Braska. The defensive line had a lot of guys out in the spring with injuries or surgeries. Kevin Williams, whom the staff was VERY high on in the spring of '11 redshirted last year, and had to get surgery, but he will be a very exciting player to watch. Chase Rome showed promise, as well as Thad Randle, who also returns in fall camp from having off-season surgery. Meredith has slimmed down, saw him in Gretna over the weekend, and he doesn't look like the blob he was last year. Bo is at his best as a coach when his back is against the wall.
There is reason to be apprehensive of this upcoming campaign. But there is also a plethora of reasons to be batsh#t crazy excited about this season.

I would like to see a scaled down playbook, with more of a focus on execution and fundamentals. The power play, the toss, fb trap, belly g option, among others, provide a solid nucleus on which to build upon.

Dutton was ahead of his time and was a wrecking ball on the defensive line.

Saw it in person...
Who cares about baseball. This is about football.

Enough with the comparisons. Not even a direct correlation. Maybe, just maybe, if Bo hadn't proclaimed, quite loudly, that he was sick of Nebraska, we wouldn't be in this mess. His problem is not 100% due to on-field performance. It is because of his nature of an egotistical, paranoid a-hole that is his problem. FACT.

This is something a football team can't rally around. You cannot justify somebody sitting idly by while someone is preying upon young boys and using the Penn State name while doing it. You just can't. Joe Paterno and Mike McQueary didn't harm any of the boys, but hell, they might as well have, by not doing anything. Makes me so f'ing sick to my stomach to see crap like this in college football.
And for the record, joe pa was never the saint many portrayed him to be.

I like the level of football in the B12 but for everything else it's the B1G. Also, it just feels weird not knowing much about 1/2 these teams in the B1G. For instance, I never knew that WI had CU-like scum fans..... For all the talk about how Alvarez molded their program after NU's from copying our uni's right down to the style of football...... it's surprising.
Believe it or not we've been wearing cardinal and white for a while, actually a year longer than the Huskers...oh and we won a few games before Alvarez as well. I know its surprising...
Wisconsin ripping NU is kind of a poor point in my book. Barry never coached there, he was a linebacker. It pains me to say it but if any place influenced him it was Iowa and Hayden Fry where he spent the most time as a coach before UW.
yea and our fans are scum yours are saints blah blah blah
Alvarez coached in the state of Nebraska though. Head coach out at Lexington High School and at Lincoln Northeast High School. And did you not hear in that week leading up to the NU-UW game, that he built YOUR program after the one Devaney had built here at Nebraska???

Rex Burkhead doesn't drink gatorade on the sideline. He drinks diesel fuel.
Rex Burkhead drinks napalm to calm his heartburn.
Rex Burkhead has the greatest poker face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker with nothing but a joker, 2 of clubs, 7 of spades, a green 4 Uno card, and Monopoly get out of jail free card.

Do we even WANT to go to the National Championship game?
Seriously, we'd likely get smoked.
I'd put my money on Bo with a month to prepare. Ye of little faith.
Against Nick Saban or Les Miles? Wow, drink the kool-aid much
Nope, just my opinion. There's a reason the game is played on the field; and not just on paper, between fans, or amongst the talking heads at ESPN. Anything can happen. People get so strung up on stats, prior events in the season, and they just can't see that, anything can happen.
