  1. Personally, I would not attend the game in Husker regalia, but I would attend if I had planned to be there. I think there's a strong possibility that it will be cancelled or that the team will boycott the game in support of Paterno. I can see that happening as a possibility. I'll be tuned in on Saturday, though, if the game comes off, to see the Huskers wipe up the field with that overrated team.

  2. I've been reading a lot of the threads on here and my friends in Husker land, I've been thinking about your present predicament and it is clear to me that there is only one solution. Now you guys have thrown out a lot of good ideas and I think you should do them all.....stop the walk-ons, fire Bo, Bench Taylor, burn the D's Blackshirts etc...those are all great..just great...but I think you've missed one. You all should demolish Memorial Stadium. I ask you my conference brothers...

Where did a #9 Husker team lose to a unranked Northwestern team? Memorial...

Where did you lose to Iowa State to Southern Miss in the past years? Memorial...

Where did Coach Callahan spend so many of his Saturdays in Lincoln? Memorial..

Where has Martinez thrown 5 of his 8 interceptions this year? Memorial

Where have you guys lost 5 fumbles this year? Memorial

I think its quite clear what must be done. Just my two cents...hope it helps.

Absolutely brilliant! That would fix the program once and for all. Also, until Memorial Stadium is torn down, any player who fumbles should be instantly cut from the team. Two off sides penalties should also result in an immediate cut. Further, any coach who loses a game should be fired immediately after the game, and TO should step in as coach for the rest of the season.

    Yeah...that's the ticket...

  3. How many loses like this do you take before you say enough?

If you want mediocrity, we have it, if you want more, then you GOT to replace folks, period.

After this many years, his recruits, his game, live with it.

Say enough? What does that even mean? Are you going to donate all your Husker clothing to a charity? Stop watching games? The team lost a game - that's all that happened. I seem to remember many games where the Huskers lost and the other team won. That doesn't affect my support for the Huskers at all. We didn't lose. The team lost. It happens. So, what's the appropriate response? For me, it's to say, "Tough game, guys. Next week's another game." For me, yelling at the team when they lose doesn't make sense. It's like the dad in the bleachers cursing at the little league coach because the team his son is on didn't win. That does nobody any good.

So, what I'll do is to cheer again next Saturday. The Huskers are the team I support and have high hopes for. Some you win...

  4. We lost to a better team that's all. It happens. Go Big Red.

Northwestern is better than NU? If that is true then we are in some real trouble.

Questioning Bo does not make anyone "fair weather" not everyone is a sunshine pumper and accepts losing to crappy teams.

It's not a matter of accepting anything. Stuff happens. Any team can win on any Saturday. Stuff happens.

  5. Welcome to huskerboard.com and we look forward to your insights on the Huskers. :thumbs

Thanks. I'm not sure how much insight I have. I'm no expert on football. I'm just a fan. I did predict the right score of one game, though, but missed badly on yesterday's game. I loved yesterday's game. The Blackshirts are definitely back.

  6. Welcome aboard CA Transplant, I kind of heard what's going on with Huskerpedia but not sure what's going to unfold.....either way, make yourself at home, even if you are an OLD COOT! :)

I hate forum wars. I love the Huskers. And there it is.

  7. I am also a transplant from Huskerpedia, I am currently overseas in the military, hoping to ge home to the family in a couple of weeks. Loving the BIG10 and looking forward to contributing.

Thanks for your service. I was in the USAF from 1965-69. Serving is a worthwhile thing to do, all around. Nice to meet you.

  8. What is going on there?

Some sort of forum war. I don't know, really. I only recently joined, but it looks ugly today, and I'm not interested. I am interested in discussing the Huskers, and that's all. Other stuff, not so much. It's not my war, so I'm outa there.

  9. Came over from Huskerpedia, where I had the same name.

I'm a diehard Husker fan by marriage. My late father-in-law played on the Freshman team in 1941, then ended up going to WWII. He came back to NU, but didn't rejoin the team. He was a rabid Husker fan all his life, and my wife and I are carrying on the tradition. I live in Saint Paul, MN, and am an old coot, myself.

My own Alma Mater is Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA.

    A story:

The Husker Wrestling team had a match at Cal Poly a number of years ago. I attended, in full Husker fan regalia, including cornhead. To my surprise, the Husker fans were just about equal in number to the local fans. When the team came out, the captain looked over at the group of Husker fans, shook his head and smiled, as if to say, "Heck, I don't even know where I am, but there you guys are!"
