  1. Enough with the alternate uniforms, our colors are Scarlet and cream, peorid, using an different uniform one game per year for a special game i have no problem with but it being a regular thing i am against it. Sure can tell alot of you posters here on huskerbords are Young and want us to be like Oregon, we are not Oregon we are NEBRASKA lets not forget that

  2. We need to go back to the Offense that we ran before Bo took over, I am talking about the power rush game, old power I and the Maryland I and run at people and tell them stop us if you can. Worked for years even after all the experts said it was an old outdated system. oh a few times it didn't work like if we got behind by to many points, but overall it worked, This stuff we run now the "Read option" is not tha great for us compared to the past thats my take

  3. Yeah you are correct and I have also seen that break down of being 19-19 against the Sec but I also know the only thing people notice or pay attention to is the Big 10 getting beat in the National Championship twice on the big stage. Your Buck eyes lost to Florida and LSU and the Florida loss was kind of loppsided if I recall. Thats what most of the nation knows about the Big 10 in Big games, I don't like it, don't think its fair but I am sorry that is the perception, and wait until the 2013 bowls start and the Big 10 teams get taken back behind the woodshed. I am currious how well the Big 10 Champion does in what the Rose bowl this year? If Michigan State loses there game and espewrongcially if it is a ass whipin the Big 10 will still be considred a joke, wish i was wrong but I doubt that will be the case

  4. I mean the Big gets their butt handed to them in bowl games against other conferences especially the Sec, get beat regularly by MAC schools, and for Gods sake Ohio State is a game away from being undefeated in two years and they are already talking about a one loss Sec team Auburn or Missouri jumping them in polls even if they beat Michigan state.

    You watch too much ESPN.

    1. B1G was 19-19 vs the SEC in BCS era thru 2011; probably 21-24 now with last couple years losses (remember the bad match ups with PSU, and OSU being ineligible). Thru 2011 b12 was 8-21 and ACC was 9-16 vs the big bad SEC. These are stats ESPN doesn't bring up.

    2. Get beat regularly by MAC schools? I know No Ill beat Iowa a couple times. What other MAC losses have occurred?

    3. ESPN constantly pushes for teams to jump OSU (first Baylor, now auburn). ESPN even had a long article how Auburn and Alabama may have a rematch. It is not going to happen unless OSU loses to MSU.

No I don't watch ESPN anymore then you or anyone else but I watch a lot of College Football, and yeah I know all about the Big 10 vs Sec 19-19 tie in wins and loss but have actually seen how that breaks down? take a look at it. Also on a national stage Ohio State got beat both by LSU and Florida, the Florida game got ugly. and I am sorry getting beat in the National Championship game twice by the SEC sticks in peoples minds more so then the 19-19 tie in wins and loses, don't get me wrong I don't care for the SEC at all. Also how many BIG teams have been in the top ten in the last couple of years? this year we have a couple, recent years not so much. when is the last time the BIG has won a National Championship? Ohio State has a chance this year but we shall see. But its ok we are a stones throw away from bowl season and mark my words the Big will have another poor showing. But as long as we can win our bowl game where ever it may be I will be happy

  5. 4. This is one of the best rivalries in college football. Both teams despise each other on every level. Can’t get better.

how is this a rivalry? yes, we hate them. but they pretty much owned us in the big 12.

A matchup is not a rivalry simply because it becomes one-sided at some point. This is a rivalry. We both LOVE trying to beat each other. There is extra intensity in these games. If this isn't a rivalry, then nothing is.

P.S. I became a Husker 26 years ago when I first attended the university. Have found it humorous during that entire time how legions of Husker fans have done their darnest to slap down any suggestion that any game against any team other than OU is a rivalry. Totally ridiculous.

We're Texas' bitch. There is extra animosity on our side because they own us, but we're just another team they laugh at.

The same way that we laughed at Colorado and Missouri and K-State and Kansas and etc.

Yep the fricken Longhorns had our number, it all began in the 1996 game and we never really got on top of them. And what was really bad about that is that we had better teams, seemed to me they wanted win more then we did when we played them.

  6. Not even a Little bit. My take is the BIG is exactly what it is. It is a weak conference and has been for a while. Which some of you might not agree and flame spray me, but thats how I see it. And to a certain point this contributes to some of our struggles. Sincé we have been in the Big it seems we play DOWN to the level of our oponnets. No respect from the rest of the nation. As much as I hated the garbage that Texas pulled we should have stayed in the Big 12. But watch what you wish for if we were in the Big 12 this year I think four loses would be the least of our problems, with this season in the Big 12 we would be lucky to be .500. I know most fans say the Big is better geographically, but football culture wise with our traditon it is a step down in my opinión, I would love to go back to the Big 8, Big 12 also if they took all the power away from Texas But we are not the same Nebraska in the Big10 that we were in the Big 12 or even Big eight. for those of you old enough to remember when we sometimes played Big 10 schools in our non conference schdule? we destroyed Big 10 teams, those days are gone and current teams that we are better than play us down to the wire. I just hope we can get better and the cream of the crop of the Big 10 not Ohio State or Wisconsin

  7. Yeah, I'm behind Pelini too. But for different reasons. I think it's a lot harder on a program to reboot than people realize. We fire Bo now and the Huskers will be set back by another two or three years. Or more. I just think it will be more efficient to fix the existing problems and improve what we have. Rather than shitcaning the whole staff and starting from scratch again. That, and I continue to believe that Bo is a decent coach. Albeit with a few flaws.

I could not argee with your more, we get rid of Bo and his staff then we have to find somebody else to come in here and take over and keep the ship upright, yeah that would set us back and we would have bigger issues then four loss season. it definately would set us back about two years maybe more

  8. you get to lose 4 games a year, get blown out regularly, embarrass yourself and the university multiple times on national television, and you only have to beat two teams with winning records.

Yet few DI coaches can accomplish this.......something about it may not be quite as easy as exaggerated.

you are right. it is hard to get blown out that many times on national tv. you really have to be doing something special to accomplish that.

I have never been embarrassed to be a Husker. Ever.

Nor have I, I back this team win lose or draw, and always will no matter the coach or our issues

  9. So for all of you that say he should be fired or gone, what is your recomendationn for replacement? I mean he has his issues but he has won 9 games a season for six years, what coach in his right mind would sign up to coach us if we fire a coach that wins 9 a season.

not our job to find his replacement.

but if a coach is too afraid to follow in bo's footsteps, then we do not want that coach here.

Not saying it is our responsibilty to find a coach but many of us here are being armchair Quaterbacks saying "what should be done" with no reasonable solution or canidate for a coach. And I would blame one coach out that would stay away from us like the plague because of the way things are for Bo. I Think it would take a brave soul and a large contract to come here if Bo was to be let go

  10. OK, I have been a lurker on this forum for a while but never created an account or posted before until now. I really think people are way off base in wanting to cut Bo loose…Shame on you. I remember a few years back when he was hired Husker nation was over the moon with excitement because this was OUR GUY…no doubt about it. Heck, Bo was appointed and endorsed by TOM himself, what else could we ask for?

Am I happy with how the last few seasons have gone? Absolutely not. Am I OK with Bo making an ass out of himself in the media and shooting his mouth off making the university and the team look bad? Heck no. BUT, I Know this is the same guy that put together one of the best defensive units this program has seen since the 90s and I think he can do it again IF…IF he has the support he had when he was first appointed head coach and some competent coordinators and position coaches. Sprinkle in some recruiting and we could ball with anyone…I really believe that.

Put this season in perspective a bit. Lets say you take the best football team in the country…which is of course Alabama. Now, take away 7 of the 8 best OL player on the team, then remove the best QB on the team, then take away a clutch, speedy receiver on the first team….OK were not quite done yet; add in a MASH unit of FRESHMAN defensive players….(seriously, these guys are freshman people! Guys that just got their first big boy hairs a few years ago and were at senior prom a year ago. What THE F DO YOU EXPECT!) I for one think its is REMARKABLE we made it 8 wins…absolutely incredible. Take all that away from Bama, then turn every media troll in the state on Saban every freakin day…what do you think is gonna happen? NO TEAM CAN OVERCOME THOSE KINDS OF INJURIES AND PRESSURS AND EXPECT TO BE SUCCESFULL…NOT ONE!

Bo has been backend into a corner all season and now we are surprised when he snaps and goes off on some reporter, a ref and the fans…. Really? I am pretty amazed he was able to hold his tongue this long, I wouldn’t have been able to. The same reason everyone loved him as a coach for his passionate enthusiasm is the same reason people are hating on him. . I cant even imagine why he would want to stay here anyway…everyone hates his guts it would seem. Why would anyone want to come here, coach or player? If your thinking its because of the reputation and tradition we had in the 70s-the 90s, think again…no one cares about that but US, Hell, none of the player were even alive during the Huskers hay days. I love the HUSKERS and will cheer for them rain or shine, win or lose, but damn…sometimes I think our fans have unrealistic expectations and are really impatient. It took Tom about 3 decades to win a championship…3 decades. If Tom were to be reincarnated and made Nebraska head ball coach he would be run out of town by the whinny fans and media after a few years. Right now, Nebraska football is a joke…that’s right, a joke to other people. Bo is trying to rebuild a program that was in the toilet and everyone is ready to FIRE him because he hasn’t made the team in to the 1994 Cornhuskers already. Its just crazy. People are impeding the exact same process they are desperate to improve.

Who else you gonna get? If someone says “scott frost” or “Lane Kiffin” I would smack there face…that’s ridiculous. They are either unproven or proven losers respectively. Maybe as Coordinators or recruiters those guys would work out but not as the HC. The only guys in my mind that would appease Husker nation immediately are locked up in long term deals that the university is defiantly not willing to reach that deep in their pockets to procure (Saban or Meyer) Even if they did “show them the money” its likely only a pipe dream. Otherwise the only thing we are going to get is more 8 or 9 win seasons only with a different guy as head coach.

Eichorst already says Bo is back, so even if you don’t agree with him or like him, quit being a baby and support our HC. HE might just surprise you if given a few new staff members, some experienced players and maybe a PR guy for good measure!

I will also add that as painful as this season was, the amount of experience our young guys got this year will pay off in SPADES NEXT year…you cant simulate in game experience in practice and I think that’s not something that should be over looked.

GBR!, sorry for the long post.

I agree with you, no knee jerk reactions, lets everybody calm down a bit and see what happensin the next couple of weeks and our bowl game

  11. I'd be way more surprised if he got a "tremendous ovation" than I would be if he got booed.

Don't be surprised when you hear a lot of boo's...

Have you guys ever attended a game in Memorial? Are you even husker fans? Come on now. I'd really like you to entertain me with your rational as to why this is even possible.

Have you ever had a real-life, in-person conversation with a Husker fan? The amount of hate people heap upon that young man is atrocious.

This is so true. It's disgusting.

Fickle ass fans, that don't have any self respect for anything

  12. So for all of you that say he should be fired or gone, what is your recomendationn for replacement? I mean he has his issues but he has won 9 games a season for six years, what coach in his right mind would sign up to coach us if we fire a coach that wins 9 a season.

    Lane Kiffin, of courser

Good one, you got me. but no i would trust him as far as i could throw my jeep

  13. Hello all, I have been here for a long time and read all the topics don't post much but heres my take. Bo has been our coach and it has been a roaller coaster the entire time. People either hate him or love him. Today during his presser he may have signed his resignation papers, who knows, I have mixed feelings about the guy, sometimes we look great others not so much. My only thing is if he is fired or leaves on his own who in the hell is out there that would want to coach at Nebraska? I mean what he has won at least 9 games in the last six years right? Their are many programs that would kill to have a record llke that. I know I know they are not Nebraska, but us Big Red fans have extremely high expectations. maybe to high, things change over time, and football program has also changed in the last 10 years. And I know some of you will flame spray me for saying this, but we should have given Frank Solich a chance back in 2003. But if I recall people didn't like him because he was a weak recruiter

There are 120 or so FBS level head coaching positions. Maybe 15 to 20 of them will be open this year. Maybe 5 to 10 will be at power conferences. Who will want to coach at Nebraska? Pretty much any coach looking to take the next step in his career.

Sorry Junior been there done that, Alot of options with selection of coaches. but or the AD needs a plan, don't just hire some guy that name is getting thrown around and then we do a knee jerk reaction and hire the guy and we end up with another Bill Calalhan incident which would set us another five years to recover. Unless they are quitely looking for someone and letting Bo stay I am ok with that, even with all drama going on right now. sure we are not where we want to be but with a head coach in place the program can still function, if Bo was to go now and we have no one to plug in his place, it would hurt the program, NFL coaches names being mentioned are not practical John Gruden, Bill Cowear. great NFL coaches but there is no guarantee that they would take the job and even if they did there is way to predict their success. just because they coached in the NFL does not mean automatic success in College. Some have proven that, Steve spurrier Washigton Redskins, Nck Sabian Miami Dolphins, I would prefer a coach that goes the other direction, one comes to mind Jim Harbaugh he went from coaching UC San Diego and developed quite a nice Little football program,, then was hired by Stanford, and most of us in San Diego thought party's over but no he turned around Stanford, and now with the 49er's and they are not doing to bad, Sorry for the rambling post but with everybody upset at Bo me included I just do not want us to do some knee jerk reaction to get rid of him and in the process pick up somebody like Bill Calalhan,

  14. I'm not even sure you can say we overachieved against Michigan. Given, it was at their house, which is indeed very imposing, especially for a freshman QB. But they're reeling-- they've lost 4 of their last 6--, needed 3 OT's to beat a bad NW team (isn't that the kettle calling the pot black, ***cough cough-- hail mary), and barely squeaked by Akron earlier this year. But furtheremore, I am REALLY FREAKING SICK of hearing statistics like "This is the first time team X has beaten Nebraska since _____" or "this is the most X given up by Nebraska since _____" after seemingly every loss. It's so bad it is literally breaking records and bucking trends that shouldn't have been bucked and thus haven't for a REALLY long time. Embarassed. JJ, at this point, I think it is time to look elsewhere if for no other reason than this team exhibits no type of continuity. I can put aside all the other crap. ALL OF IT. And yeah, there are positives. We've seen DAMN good defense this year at times and this team has shown more heart than any NU team I can remember during Bo's tenure here. They will not quit. But they are FAR too volatile to ever rise above the rank of bottom of the top 25 type team and stay there. They are not the same team week in and week out. And I do not know that Bo will ever get them. Stability and continuity are underrated, and if Bo cannot give us that, I do not think we can ever succeed to the level we all want.
Amen to that was going to start a topic on this very thing. The ones that bother me are the ones that began years ago, about 10. 1998 we lost to Oklahoma state, and they were quick to point out the last time Nebraska lost to OSU Lyndon Johnson was president.. or the blow outs, everybody keeps talking about Wisconsin last year but I remember Texas Tech 70-10 in 2006, Kansas 76-35 2007 and this year first time ever to lose to MSU had not lost to Minnesota since 1960 I could go on and on. Losing sucks period, if we play well and lose i can deal with that, but when we stink up the field i can not. This is not the Nebraska we knew 10 years ago and we may never get back the way things are going

  16. I for one don't think they are the monster's everyone is making them out to be. I watched a couple of their games because out here in California you watch what they show unless you have game plan etc. Anyway I watched them against Eastern Michigan, South Florida, and Iowa, and if it was not for their defense they would not have scored enough points to win those games, yes the defense plays good but their Offense is horrible. They to me with the exception of the beat down on Michigan, they to me look very average. Also like other MSU teams they are world beaters at home, but on the road their success does not carry over thats my take, yes today will be a hard fought game, but i like our chances of getting it done today,

  17. Deleted my previous post due to the fact that it violated board rules, I understand now, but a question, wouldn't board memebers asking for game streams also be violating board rules? Seems that would also be true. anyway its gone, sorry for the mishap, won't do it again,

  18. [No pirate streams allowed]

These kind of links are against board rules. You should edit it out or a mod might do it for you, and also give you a suspension to go along with it.

Sorry about that, I don't post things that often, I was just trying to help the guy out, as sometimes it can be hard to get a game. Thank you for the heads up
