  1. I find it interesting that so many are pointing to the fact that OSU beat Wisconsin in 2012 and pointing out that we got blown out in the CCG while ignoring the fact that we also beat Wisconsin earlier in the same season - much closer to when OSU beat them.

No matter what time of the year the game was played. They held them to 7 points. We gave up 10x that amount.

  2.

Very warm and genuine of the new coach. Pretty cool.

I thought I also read that at OSU the practices were open to fans. I can envision the fan excitement around spring and fall practices. Forget media notes, we'll need HB reps at each one! :)

    GTFO with that ;-)

Seriously - even if just 1 practice a month was open to fans I would be all over this. Where did you read this, I haven't come across it yet?

heard it on Ketv news/sports tonight.Open to Media and fans at OSU practice.
  3. Bo's firing was about Conference Championships. Demeanor on and off the field was the excuse. If Bo would have won that Championship this year, he'd still be here. And the fans would be god damn giddy about it too.

I really believe Bo's final demise was going down with his assistants. He stuck by them till the end. I would almost bet that he was asked to find a new OC/DC, or he would lose his job. He chose losing his job over getting rid of a friend. His respect for his coaches cost him his job.
  4. Each answer is correct. Better play calling lead to narrowing the scope of what plays the offense plays. When you play the plays everyone knows, you're bound to have better execution because they have done it a thousand times. Chip Kelly said that they only have 4 running plays while at Oregon. It just leads to better execution because your allowing the players to have more confidence in what they are doing. When that happens, and everyone executes better, your QB play is by far better. It also helps that you do this against an FCS defense. All of this happens. Let's be honest, Taylor would have looked amazing too.

Although, I have to admit, Tommy looked great! So did RKIII. Thank the whole offense, and the OC for playing plays those kids have ran through a thousand times before thanking Tommy (even though he looked great). Also, thank SDSU for having a not so good defense.

You have to remember our offense practices against our defense. Our defense, that is actually close to the being the worst in Div. 1. The same defense that'd can't stop anyone's running attack. The same on that allowed an FCS RB rush for 200+ yards.

It is no wonder that the coaches think that Taylor is better. I would hate to see how he eats up our own run defense at practice!

  5. Steve Pederson!

This. Because Pederson was an arrogant jackass without a plan. The coaching search after he fired Solich was an utter clusterf#@k. If Pederson had managed that process better we would not have lost a half a decade of Husker football. Pederson is the villain more than Callahan.

I went with the coach that shall not be named only because the AD that shall not be named wasn't listed.

  6. I absolutely believe this statement by Foreman to be true! NU coaches need to embrace and listen to those who have achieved the success of Husker tradition. Shutting out players like TF and JP because they disagree with you is not productive. They have insight. They can have constructive input. These two individuals simply say what many other Husker fans are thinking. Maybe being a good listener is a positive quality for a head coach?

I find it admirable that all of his former players came to bat for him which tells me his players are really down for him regardless of what the perception is BUT not one of those players understood or understands the "Nebraska way." Not because they didn't want to but because it wasn't made available to them or maybe a little of both.

Tommie Fraziers input wasn't constructive criticism. Not even close.

    No?

Actually it was the truth. Almost everyone on here has requested a coaching change, on defense, of some sort. NO difference.

  7. We do have a stadium full of fair weather fans.

    The hell we do.

Agree knapp. We just want to see a quality product on the field. Myself and 90,000 others want to see the kids put in a place to succeed. That is not happening. I stuck up for Bo against the Bo bashers. Not anymore. This little audio nugget seals the deal for me. He can kiss my ass on the way out. I hope it is tomorrow. And his wife has a stupid name.

  8. It's Martinez' fault.

Sure it aint Beck's? Or Doc Sadler's?

    Positive. It's Bo's.

Time to take the blinders off. We are not getting better, no matter how you spin it.

Thor... few here are as down on things as I... but even I think NU will get better on defense --- even over the next few weeks. As guys like Valentine, Gerry, Banderas, Gregory, and a slew of other newer athletes get some more experience they will improve some and that should be a modest improvement for the unit. Now the unit could get beat down and lose confidence and not really improve much (or at all). But there is at least as good a chance that there will be improvement. Great improvement? probably not. Some improvement? I think so.

I believe we have the athletes also. What I don't believe any longer is that we have someone that can teach them.

This is nothing different than what we have all discussed in the past, like this 2 gap sh#t. It may be different if we could see that they are trying something different. What we see week after week is just the definition of insanity.

  9. Now I may be a staunch Bo hater, but I can agree with this. He took a sinking ship and got us floating again. The question fans have to ask themselves is, is just floating enough?

The boat has a hole in it. He isn't smart enough to use his chewing gum to plug it.

  10. One of these guys needs to learn how to publicly versus privately handle situations where one has much more to lose than the other.

true enough. One is a highly paid professional expected to have diplomacy and the wherewithal to deal with public criticism. The other is a high profile fan. The standards/expectations for the former vastly exceed those of the latter.

Why is Tommie getting hammered for his opinion? Damon Benning does it and he doesn't get hammered like this.

  11. I'm fine with it, we really don't need Tommie. This is Bo's team, if former players want to take swipes at him he should be able to defend himself.

While I respect Tommy...he's taking a swipe at a program because it's not up to what it was when he played......

    1. in a different conference

    2. under a different coach

    3. playing different oponents

    4. in a different era of football

So, unfortunately...he lacks perspective....and while he has more than most of us being closer to the team and the program than we are...he still clearly has no idea what it takes to be a head coach.

I think Bo saying this is defending, not the program...but the players. Tommy disrespected them with his comments imho.

I started to read this thread and only got this far.

Tommie didnt disrespect the players, he was talking coaches. I side with Tommie on this. What he said had NOTHING to do with comparing to when he played. How do you make this sh#t up?

Tommie is right. How do you not make changes to ty and help the team. Why does Bo have to be so f'ing stubborn? He said nothing different than what 100 threads and 1000 posts have said right here on this board.

I hope that all ex players show there disgust for what has happened to this program over the last 6 years. Their voices are heard and our voices are not.

It's funny how in so many fans' eyes, Tommie's opinion of our current coaching staff means less than anybody else's opinion just because he has a poor overall record as a football coach. It just doesn't make sense. He sees the same product on the field that we do, and he has an opinion of it. Why is that wrong?

I can't tell if you agree or disagree with me, but basically your last paragraph is exactly what I'm talking about. How can we talk the same talk that Tommie did, but when Tommie says it, it is disrespecting.

Once again, after 6 years of this product, it's time to put up or STFU. I have been a supporter of Bo through all of this, I'm done. This sh#t is aging me more than I care to be aged.
