I would almost trade getting to 6 wins if it meant being the first to spoil Iowa’s so called perfect season. They have the most pathetic schedule imaginable. Penn St is the only team they have played with half a heartbeat and we’re about the only ones left with a shot. But don’t tell the squawkeyes that, they think they’re worthy of that high ranking.
There are 5 B1G teams in the AP top 10 right now. OSU is probably the only one that will be there in the final poll. Lots of football to play. Still, I don't think Id say PSU has half a heartbeat. JMO.

that soul crushing loss to hated Iowa.
Why? I want to see us beat hated Creighton in basketball this Saturday.
But if we lose to Creighton, I'm definitely jumping into The Dredge. At that point, there will be no reason for me to live. Losing to Iowa and Creighton in the same year is just unbearable. What has happened to the once mighty Huskers? How can we keep losing to those loser schools, Creighton and Iowa. Losing to Creighton, in particular, galls me. It is a tiny private school while we are the state's land grant college and the flagship of the state university system. We have way more athletic money than those people in Omaha. I can't tell you how disgusted and frustrated I am about this Creighton series. I wished we didn't even play them. I'd much rather play the likes of Drake or South Dakota State.
We might have won that Iowa game if you people would have organized that Ritual Exorcism of Husker Nation that I begged you to do. But nooooo. Nobody listens to Thurston from Pender.

Iowa better not roll lots of sixes when Nebraska is on offense Friday.

I'd be shocked if Leach took a job at NU. He doesn't need the aggravation. But I've always been a fan of his style.

I'd have the wife pack our bags and leave Saturday for an around the world cruise. Then I'd enjoy a pleasant retirement.

so, how would we handle a blow out loss? i hope for the best, but if we do get blown out the impact will be huge...this is a game Pelini can't afford to lose.
the huskers will win this one. no loss- blowout or otherwise.

I think we agree alot about the league. The series though I just think would be better suited at the front of the year. It has a feel to it that would be a fun/tough opener for both teams. I just don't know that it has that end of the year Black Friday appeal. The problem for us is that we were used to the round robin of the Big 8 and the final game was ALWAYS the conference title game with OU. We never got that back even with Colorado. We hated the Buffs because there fans were pretty much sh#t to us. If Iowa is to take that role and offer that flavor we currently both lack, we both need to step up in a big way next year and both be competing for the division crown.
yup. the big8 was really the big2. Lots of folks forget that.

Zoogies, you are aware that Osborne didn't put a top notch team on the field until 82 right? With Turner Gill as his QB.
TO's first rankings as head coach were: 4th, 7th, 9th, 9th, 9th, 12th, 8th, 9th. These are all better than Pelini has produced. (14th was the best and was done with Cally's recruits.) If you're waiting for a top-notch team out of Pelini, I'm guessing you'll be waiting more than another 4 years.
Using today's standard, Devaney would have been canned after back to back 6-4 seasons in 1967 and 1968. Luckily, smarter folks prevailed.
TO inherited a team from the Bobfather that went 11th, 1st,1st and 4th.
Do we need to review the national ranks of Cally's teams? Bo didn't inherit a successful program a year removed from back to back MNCs like TO did.
No real comparison there.

Also - I think he might have actually hit the ref with his hat:
Don't think so. That would have gotten him kicked out of the game.

As long as we're an average to good but not great football team, we have no right to say that any rivalry or hypothetical rivalry is beneath us.
Iowa is a better football team than us this year. That simple.
Sorry, can't do it, I still spit on the concept of Iowa football, it disgusts me.
This ^^^
It is time for NU to return to dominance!!!
good luck with that.

Pretty sure Colter didn't play that game so a huge difference there. Iowa also didn't turn the ball over repeatedly and put their D in tough positions like 1st and goal.
Colter played. He was sacked twice in overtime.
The Hawkeye defense stepped up, with sophomore Drew Ott sacking Wildcat quarterback Kain Colter on first down. Following a 3-yard run by Colter on second down, Iowa kept contain on third-and-8 before freshman cornerback Desmond King had a pass breakup in an attempt intended for Stephen Buckley at the first-down marker. On fourth-and-8, Iowa's front four forced Colter out of the pocket before junior Louis Trinca-Pasat ran him down for a sack on the final play, sending Iowa to its fifth win of the season.

Chuck Long is an Iowa quarterback from back in the day? I'm missing how that gives him a qualified opinion of Tommy/Ronnie.
An accomplished QB (second in Heisman voting) from a B10 school, who was also an offensive coordinator isn't qualified to give an OPINION on two B10 qbs?
Really?
But anonymous fans on forums are?
Long is a PAID commentator on college sports. Quite qualified.

It was very classy of him and I read on another NW board that he stopped to make a few NW players feel better after how the game ended. Can't remember where I read that or if it's true so take it for what it's worth.
Right in the link to their forum-
Agree. BP showed a lot of concern when Buckley went down and spent most of his post game time with Wildcat players, consoling them. Total class.

Did anyone notice Bo's reaction to the win? Was he in shock? Was he wondering if it would be reviewed? Was he copping an attitude? It was kind of odd.
I think he was choking up. Very emotional win for him.
-
If everyone knew how to beat Bo, he'd be 0-13.
yup. or 0-7 instead of 5-2.
And something tells me there would still be people giving him a pass and making excuses for it.
If Bo was 0-7, they'd be giving him a pass by long distance phone call...
He'd be fired.
-
If he loses, it is a big game.
But he won't. The wildcats are imploding. Bo and the huskers will be fine.
-
Kirk Ferentz isn't going anywhere if Iowa makes a bowl, which they will. Barely.
I'm not so sure.
-
Northwestern will not beat any ass this week.
Huskers win easily.
Because the Huskers have "won easily" against so many good teams these last few years
I hope they win but "easily"? The judges say no.
four losses in a row... northwestern is imploding.
-
If everyone knew how to beat Bo, he'd be 0-13.
yup. or 0-7 instead of 5-2.
-
probably why Bo sounded so depressed in his interview.
-
nebraska should be able to get a "big name". Don't know why anyone would settle for less than a proven HC. There was lots of hype for Bo too.
-
W (55/45 chance)-Northwestern
L-@ Michigan
L-Michigan St.
W-@Penn St.
W-Iowa
Bo stays.

We are 7 games into the season, a fall practice, and we are just now working on this problem. Seems a little late for a defensive genius to figure it out.
I hope your right, but my guess is we have another ass beating coming this weekend. And will see the same puzzled faces on the staff.
Northwestern will not beat any ass this week.
Huskers win easily.

There are a lot of factors in this loss. We don't know how any other QB would do, but they aren't responsible for giving up 34 points to an immobile QB who was running.
exactly. giving up 282 yards rushing is NOT good.
Nebraska analysis...the rest of the way

Yes, PSU is good, maybe even very good. Top 10? I think NO poll is valid until mid to late November. Until there is a real 16 team playoff, there will always be a MyticalNationalChampionship called by the media. JMO
