  1. I think that the huskers will unite behind their coaches and blow the buffs out. The "turmoil" is largely external and I think it will rally the troops.

    A lopsided contest at best.

the mighty huskers roll the buffs!

  2. I loved this comment by Desmond. As a man you have to respect his opinion, he didn't dodge the question, he gave his honest opinion on the situation. I have to give it to Taylor too for handling it so well. I know many a player who as soon as that index finger hit their chest would have quickly corrected Pelini. I'm all for coaching guys hard, but you have to be an idiot not to see he clearly crossed the line...

No you don't. "Correcting" your coach in the manner you imply means getting booted from the team. And if you think yelling at a player is crossing the line, you either haven't played much football or you've been on some pretty weak teams.

I'll agree that Bo should have handled this better, but the only thing he should have done differently is do it behind closed doors. He was out of control and he has to work on that. But yelling at Martinez is the least of Bo's worries right now.

    that is spot on.

It is Bo's team, the only thing he should have done differently is do it behind closed doors

  3. howard wasn't going to slap shembeckler and never said or inferred any such thing.

at least desmond howard isn't an internet tough guy. howard said what he said, PUBLICLY, ON TV, KNOWING Bo would hear it.

    seems fairly gutsy to me.

howard isn't hiding behind a keyboard.

If bo doesn't like what howard says, he knows where to find him.

  4. You do realize this is not an accepted SOS, right? If you want to boast, boast that ISU's SOS is 6th in the country on Sagarin, a scale actually used by the BCS. You're more than four times better than Nebraska's - we're 28th in Sagarin's SOS.

    Anyway, here's your cookie:

    thanks for the cookie.

boasting? Having the toughest schedule is a negative, especially for a team like isu. But if you consider it a boast, I guess I'll take it. :cheers

Sure can't boast about our win/loss record.

It's the NCAA website numbers. What would they know? :dunno

  5. I want to first say that I am extremely glad that we have the coaching staff that we do and I hope they are here for a long time.

I also believe that husker_99 is on to something. I don't claim to be an expert or an insider, but I do have an opinion.

I think Bo and the staff are flat out getting out coached right now. They are surviving on Big Offensive plays and those alone are hiding the problems with the rest of team. I think they are getting beat by special teams, field position, penalties, turnovers and an inability to adjust. Players drop passes and are responsible for penalties. It is the coaches responsibility to determine if these players are hurting their team.

    Special Teams

-Kickoff team is suspect. The only thing that doesn't make everyone hold their breath is that Adi puts in through a good chunk of the time.

-Punt Return. Not only can they consistently not field a punt, they get very little yardage when they do happen to get their hand on it. It took half a year to remove Niles from punt return. Obviously dropped passes were huge against Texas, but punt return absolutely killed the Huskers as well. The Rugby punted 3 times before adjustments were made.

-Punting. We have a great punter. We give up a lot of yards on punt returns. Watch how many huskers are around the ball when the punt it caught vs when we get the ball.

-Punt and kick off teams have been a big factor in the horrible field position the huskers have battled in close games.

    Offense

-Dependent on big plays. K-State & Missouri. Watch the long runs....backs and qb's aren't even touched. Kyler Reed has been a big play receiver.

-Penalties and drops at the worst times.

-With the exception of the big plays noted earlier, don't appear to making adjustments to what is working. (Using Cody Green to run read option over and over again, going away from Rex running the offense, not throwing on first down against Texas).

-Takes too long to get a play in.

-At times they look unprepared. Can't run a two minute offense.

    Defense

-Players with a knee on the ground when the ball is snapped.

    -No pass rush.

-Blitz doesn't seem to be effective.

-Much like the offense it seems to take a long time to get the play in.

-A mobile qb will destroy this defense. Once a running back or qb gets past the d line they're good for 10 yards.

-Without Lavonte David, they are in serious trouble.

-Great call to change safeties because of poor tackling.

-Defense does a great job when they have 80 yards to play with, but because of bad field position they are giving up points.

good points but you are missing one.

.....8-1 the b12 title may be in his grasp.

    Bo knows football.

  6. I think kneeing it with 3 timeouts and 40 seconds left is what ISU should be upset about. Yet I think he wanted a emotional upset so why not try it.

    that too.

he should have tried to get down the field in regulation and never shouldl have gone with the fake fg. I would have played for another OT, but if you go for two, at least do it with the offense.

  7. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks so, but I think Rhoads played foolishly with the 2-point attempt. ISU had the momentum, and NU couldn't throw the ball. I think Rhoads should have challenged NU to keep up with his offense in OT. And choosing a punter to throw into that wind against our secondary is not a smart play-call IMO.

I agree with you. Rhodes takes a knee to send into overtime then risks the game, when it was only his too lose, on this kind of play. Unless he feels his team has played out of their minds all game and is sure that his team cannot sustain an offense shootout. Not, not smart IMO.

Also, I think I finally admit that we are not the team that everyone thinks/or wants us to be.

Rhoades blew the call, he should have gone into a second or third OT.

ISU is better than some thought and maybe NU is not as good as some thought.

    a little of each.
