  1. For all the physicalcality of those two playing each other, there is no denying that Jeffery both beat Dennard in coverage on that play, and broke Dennard's attempted tackle on the Hail Mary at the end of the play. There is also no denying that ONE PLAY changed the momentum of the game.

And regardless of who was at fault, who threw the first punch, and who "won the fight", etc, Dennard hurt his team more by getting thrown out. In this case SC's backup WR's were better than Nebraska's backup CB's, and that cost them in the end.

The question you have to objectively ask is who's Draft stock went up yesterday and who's went down?

  2. I'll add one more. For all the pre game talk about Dennard, David is the heart and soul of your D. That guy was running around like his hair was on fire (in a good way). I liked the way he played, and the WAY he played (character). He'll play well on Sundays...

And let me expound on my #5. I'll put that one on your coaches, not your players.

  3. As an outsider looking in....

    1) Rex Burkhead is a stud. He gashed is all day long.

    2) I think your O-line played well, but got tired in the last 1/3 of the game. Not surprising given what they were dealing on the other side of the ball. Don't beat them up for that. You guys played hard and moved the ball easily against a top 5 defense for almost 3 quarters. So you had trouble punching it in in the red zone, but that's understandable too.

    3) Your QB has a better (stronger) arm than you guys give him credit for. He made some damn good throws today.

    4) Penalties hurt both teams. SC had more penalty yards, NEB had more costly penalties (location and timing). Awful crew today.

    5) All the comments about your secondary above are on point. Several of us interlopers said man coverage would hurt you guys and it did.

    6) Turnovers killed you guys. Both of them were at bad times after big Nebraska drives.

I thought you guys played better than you are giving yourselves credit for. You pretty much took it to us in the 1st 1/2 and I think the hail mary really hurt you guys mentally.

Look at the high spots folks...

  4. I'm hoping to see some misdirection game trying to get our speed outside... Then use the same stretch game to open up the middle for kyler over the top of the secondary... Been seeing all these reverse passes all bowl season, wouldn't be surprised to see something of that order!

You realize that SC has an All American DE in Melvin Ingram, and Freshman All American DE in Jadevon Clowney. I'm not sure attacking the ends is the best plan.

  5. This whole thing makes me wonder: How did Clowney get the nickname Doo Doo?

That's what he scares out of opposing QB's...

(I'm being serious, that's how he got it.)

The "flyer" on the FB page has now been changed. My guess, is their Cease and Desist letter showed up in the mail yesterday. There was no indication that Clowney and Whitlock or the University of South Carolina gave their permission to use their images on the flyer...

  6. Someone mentioned in another thread (it got closed) that they felt bad for the kids who are there and didn't have anything to do with it, citing that everybody involved has left the program. I'd just like to point out that it still wouldn't be right to not hit tOSU with sanctions regardless of who is there and who isn't. The point of sanctions is deter any kind of 'illegal' behavior as deemed by NCAA rules. A debate over whether these rules are fair or justly applied to universities is one thing, but as everything stands now they're what people have to do deal with. If you don't apply sanctions, you're essentially saying they can break the rules as long as everybody involved is fired or leaves.

The NCAA really is in a catch 22 when it hands out punishment. This case and USC are prime examples of it. The people who perpetrated the acts for the most part are long gone and hardly had to pay a dime, while the guys left behind have to pay for they're transgressions. You've got to punish the program some how but post season bans have a lot of collateral damage with them. Scholies, probation, and some form of monetary punishment are probably the best way to hit the program and not affect current students. But you can only go so far with those before you border on the death penalty for a program.

5 year show cause for Coach Tressle is pretty much a death sentence for his career, at least as far as the college game is concerned.

  7. If you look at what happened at Ohio State, and what they offered as penalty, the offenses aren't as big and the punishment is bigger here. I'm willing to take our lumps....

    Uhhh, no. Not even close.

Gamecocks cheating: $55,000 in improper hotel benefits (plus) four ineligible football players played (plus) $3,350 dinner cruise for recruits (plus) pretending to run a charitable organization then filtering out the best kids and directing them to USC

tOSU cheating: players traded autographs for tattoos; coaches failed to report it.

Except you missed the small fact that all the athletes involved had to repay the over payments in order to be considered eligible to play....

  8. FWIW, these are proposed self imposed penalties. We'll see what the NCAA does with it.

Overbooking dorms is a pretty common occurrence. When my sister was a freshman at S.C. in the mid 1980's she had to stay in a hotel for about 3-4 weeks because her apartment wasn't ready for her to move in. (It was a new building). How it's handled by the school is something totally different.
