No, you only THINK players are being treated differently. Unless you are at practice every day, you don't know how much everyone is messing up or doing what they're coached to do. EVERYONE messes up - Andrew Luck throws INTs, Lavonte David misses tackles (I know, that's almost sacreligious, but it's true), Justin Blackmon dropps passes, etc. The question is, are you doing what is asked and MINIMIZING mistakes? Only coaches and teammates who are around every day know who's getting the best job done.
The players who are out playing the most have the most chances to make mistakes, that's just how it is. But that doesn't mean the players behind them are better. JT is a great example - even weeks after the first articles came out about how he wasn't giving everything he had in practice, message boarders were still bemoaning Bo's "doghouse." Don't try to confuse their arguement with the facts. I liked what I heard from JT when the stories first came out and like him even more after reading this article. I love how's he's looking at it: this season's over, time to start a new one. With the story he's got, this won't keep him down for long. Big things are ahead!
So you're at practice every day? If so good for you because then you can tell all of us the "facts". Or, are you just speculating on what you THINK is going on which is what all of us here do?
Each coaching staff makes a lot of decisions on who to play and why. They all think they are doing it in the manner that will give them the best chance to win. Still, they are all human and not infallible and fans will question those decisions from time to time.

I still have reservations about how his year was handled nonetheless. It's a nice PR piece and I think everyone knows JT is a great kid. There wasn't anyone more enthusiastic to become a Husker than him. Knowing that he was learning a new position and trying to play it at a D1 level while doing that, I think there were some things that could have been done to get the ball in his hands while he learned. I don't understand how you don't scheme to get the ball in his hands 3 times a game minimum, practice habits or not. He was a quarterback and he could have had a wildcat package for instance.
While you make some valid points.................and I would have loved to seem him on the field, from a team perspective, how do you allow him some packages and reps if you have told the entire team your playing time is earned on the practice field.....and then there are exceptions??
Seems to me the whole chemistry is affected if 1 is allowed to dog it and is rewarded with PT, and others are held to a differing standard.
By the way, the article I thought was more than just a PR piece. It does answer some questions most of us had about WHY he wasn't seeing the field. Love his attitude now and hope it translates quickly ............maybe as soon as Jan 2........!
My comment on the PR aspect of it is due mostly to the fact that I'd already heard the practice habits stories from sources on the message boards a couple months ago. There are a lot of dissimilar treatments of players on this team so speaking for myself I don't see that it's a big issue if he still plays some if he has a bad practice. Some have a long leash and some have a short one. Some can make multiple mistakes and play and some make one and have their face put on a milk carton. He was probably getting frustrated that he knew he could contribute in other ways but was stuck learning and perfecting technique in a new position before he could. Perfectly understandable to me. My opinion is admittedly skewed on this one because I just think the kid is a difference maker on the field.

Confusing thread is confusing.

Damn his skills are sic
I shouldn't have watched more video. I'd forgotten how impressive he looked, like another D. Robinson. Now I'm going to be real disappointed if he doesn't sign.

Ok, I should amend what I've said. I'm not "happy" that he's leaving. He was a great asset to the program but at times, especially in big games it seemed like he overthought things and tried to change up the formula too much. Last year's Rose Bowl was a painful reminder of that for me and I wanted to see him leave at the end of that game when there were rumors he was going to bail for other offers. That said, now that he's gone one has to be a little concerned about our offense because he did engineer some great teams.
But then again we lost a great DC last year to NIU and turned out alright so maybe we make a solid hire and come through just fine...its not like our offense is mind-bogingly difficult to coordinate...run pass run run run run pass run run run run play-action dump off pass to RB run TD.
The thing is, I don't know who we go out and get...who's available OC wise? People from every school throw Stoops' name out for any DC job but as far as OC's go I haven't heard much....
Anyhow, at least now we have yet another excuse for what will, more than likely, be a relatively flat year on offense, a flat year that thanks to the NCAA will still probably lead to at least a 50-50 shot to get to Indy between us and Penn State. Thank you Mr. Pryor!
Promote from within, man...it's all the rage!!
That or hire Shawn Watson
NU would probably offer to ship a truckload of leftover hair care products as a sweetener. Do it!

The job Snyder did this year was leaps and bounds beyond what Miles did. LSU is LOADED.

Inside sources: Mo is
Excellent news if true. His coach says he is better than Zac Bowman.

We need to let the midget center play. The back up is another midget and has played like what, 3 snaps?

With the death of Kim Jung Il, Bo Pelini is rumored to have had talks to take over the head spot in North Korea. Unnamed highly placed sources quoted "Red is their color too and the hat with the red "N" on it could stand for north so he's already got that going for him."

Probably about to be fired from ESPN.
^^This.^^
At least it will keep him off the air.

Fun KJI factoid:
The average North Korean makes $900 per year. KJI spent $700,000 last year on Hennessy.

Hey, let's turn another topic into a second guessing Bo Pelini topic. Why not?
only if we can also turn it into a TO is a genius, he should ask for help thread that eventually devolves into a "we should run more option" thread.
Can it end with petty name calling and hurt hinies all around?
You need to go through the who is a good fan and who isn't thread transition before you get to the hurt hinies.

He has improved a lot this year, but doesn't play well in big games.
Wisc was the only really bad game he had this year. The rest of the time he was somewhere between OK and good. Northwestern he played well, the defense gave the game away, and Mich was a total team failure.
Ohio State was the only game I was impressed, and I was very impressed. Other games he did play from OK to good besides Wisscy and Mich, but those were two big games. I'd like us to let him throw more on the run and not be under center as much. Abdullah, Turner, Rex, Bell, Enunwa are all guys that need the ball and only Rex received those touches.
Agree about the use of personnel which is a Beck issue. I also don't like his use of Martinez in the run game most of the time. The old school option stuff gets the fans going from a nostalgia standpoint but doesn't suit Martinez's running skill which is a straight ahead burst or nothing. Zone read option suits him much better but then he will do things like run into the back of three linemen and completely miss a hole like he did in the Michigan game when they run it. Even with that I think that is what he is best suited for. He did manage to limit mistakes after the Wisconsin game but I'd like the coaches to try and turn him loose and be a real threat again. If he's all we've got at QB then let Taylor be Taylor.

Stoops is the next DC at nebraska (this is what i know) and what i think is that he will prob be around for 3-4 years, but he will be announced after the bowl game, take it for what its worth, but you heard it here first folks
I hope this strain of info is the correct one. I don't want Stoops going to tOSU.

Didn't we hear last year that Sanders went crazy in Vegas with some hookers? Seriously...
Charged on his UNL credit card is what I've read.

I approve of this fan base.

I hardly see how he's qualified. He has no golf pro experience and I don't think he'e ever even been to Cardinal Mooney high school let alone attended class there.
