  1. I haven't watched really any game tape of SCar -- their QB Shaw -- is he a "running QB" or is he a mobile passing QB? (ie -- are they called run plays or are they scrambles)

He plays a little of both. One of Spurrier's critics on him is that he is too quick to tuck and run instead of creating more time with his feet. He also has several designed runs out of the shotgun as well.

How is their running game predicated? Pro-style? Zone read?

Zone read mostly, that's where a lot of shaw's runs come out of.

  2. Does this guy block or is he primarily a receiving TE? He looks rather skinny.

Not really, that's why Cunningham starts. We have two TE's coming in next year and one that's being red shirted now so buster may move to WR if he cant pack on a few pounds.

  3. Greetings, Huskers.

As a NST (Nebraska as second team) fan, I figured that I'd give you guys a bit of an insight into your opponent for the bowl game. A enemy of your enemy is your friend...right?

The Gamecocks are located in the hottest place on earth, Columbia, SC (I don't live far from Cola, so believe me I know). I've been told this is because it's trapped in a valley between the beaches and mountains of SC, and doesn't get any breeze, not terribly sure if this is correct, so don't quote me on it.

They have 1 conference championship, an ACC Championship in 1969. Now that we've covered ALL football championship information, let's move on.

The Gamecocks have had recent success in bowl games, 4 bowl wins since 1995. Prior to that, they had 0.

The Gamecocks are named after a breed of illegal fighting chickens. Word is the Vick University Fighting Pit Bulls are the only mascot more inhumane. In all actuality, it's named after Thomas Sumter.

This year's team is hot/cold on offense, and very good defensively. The front 4 are great, contrary to what a made-up tweet by Clemson's Tajh Boyd may have said about them (it's amazing what coaches can come up with to motivate your players). You must NOT turn the ball over, but expect to have a low scoring game. Defensively, the Huskers should look to keep Shaw in the pocket and blanket Alshon Jeffery (easier said than done). The other receivers aren't bad, but they won't wow you either.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I'll be the one in SC rocking red on Jan 2.

Congrats on your tallest midget award

  4. The director started providing opportunities for us to see the figment of imagination in the Nebraska episode. Dexter's brother came back and they drove around and caused havoc and we knew his brother was dead.

After re-watching the scene where Travis and Geller are at the restaurant only Travis is having a drink. A waitress comes up to them and only asks Travis for a refill, she pays no attention to Gellar.

When they showed Brian Mozer stabbing the hotel clerk sealed it for me. It showed a dark passenger taking control and acting instead of just offering advice. The Travis Geller relationship reminded me of Dexter and Harry.

  5. Hey Guys,

I thought I'd drop by after getting the official news about the C1B. You guys are a great program and I think it should be a great game. Gamecock fans have always had a special place in their hearts for Omaha, well before these past two years. I look forward to chatting with you guys and for a hard nosed football game on the 2nd.

Do you know how long does it take to get certified or what ever so I can post at CockyTalk

    It should be instant

  7. I mentioned in my "Introduce yourself post" that I earned my undergrad from an SEC school, which I said "would remain unnamed"

Cacti figured it out pretty quick but I'll come out with it now. I actually graduated from the University of South Carolina and I'm a huge fan of my Alma Mater. This is not a joke. I really am a Gamecock.

You guys are fun and I enjoy posting here...even rooting for the Huskers when the game doesn't affect USC or UW but now I'm going to have to come out and say it.

    GO GAMECOCKS!

Brace yourselves for some Black Magic Huskers.

  8. I wonder how much the idea of Nebraska playing Spurrier in another bowl game swayed the selection committee.

the offence we run now is very different from those Florida teams in the 90's. In the past two seasons we've began running the zone read which has worked great this year with a Mobile QB with an inexperienced arm.

  9. Welcome to the board! Goodluck to the Gamecocks. I cheered for you guys to beat Mizzou a few years ago.

That was my freshman year at USC, unfortunately Brad Smith went all superman in the second half. We were big fans of yalls in the 08 or 09 Gator bowl when playing Clemson.
