    What experiment is over?

My comment was about the fact that it seems like some people claim the ONLY way we are going to get back to greatness is to bring back "Nebraska people" like Trev Alberts for AD and Frost for HC of football.

I said that if that's the case, then that doesn't bode well for the long term future of the program.  Why?  Because what happens when those people aren't around to hire anymore?  Do people really think that Nebraska is such an odd place that someone from the outside can't come in and be successful here?  I don't buy it.

I never said that I thought Frost would be a total failure or a horrible hire.  I want whomever the new AD is to go out and hire the best damn football coach he can.  If that's Frost....GREAT.

But, I am not for having blinders on and only going after him as the savior of Husker football.

i hear what you're saying.... because ive been saying that for every hire. but im over all of this.... give it to scott

I said in another thread earlier this week.  I'm not convinced that Frost is the answer to our problems.  People who key in on him and claim we NEED to get him, are ignoring a lot of other possibilities (for which I have no names to throw out because I don't follow such things).

My guess is though that either Nebraska is is dream job...or he has absolutely no desire to come back.  I really don't see it being anywhere in between.  If he doesn't want to come back...so be it and we need to have a much broader scope of coaches we look at.

nah the experiment is over. at this point we have no choice then to give frost a chance imo. i think its that simple.

playing the game of landing up and coming guys and big splash hires is a long and very risky road.... you should know that because thats why we are at where we are at.

we need nothing more than an up and coming guy who is our own who we can put our faith into blindly because we know him. i think everyone is tired of the experiments. if we put stock into frost and it turns out a disaster.... i think everyone is completely ok with that at this point. at least then we know.

you really wanna wave off scott and try to land a whale? what happens when it doesnt turn out? what if scott is winning at that point (he is now)? wouldnt that hurt way worse?

At this point, we shouldve hired frost 1 hire ago..... and you're still not comfortable with frost? what about when your next coach doesnt work out? u gonna say the same thing then? enough is enough. frost's turn.

  4. Waiting for the official announcement- this will be great for the B10... wonder how along until Urban has another health problem? He will no longer have his pick of the litter in the B10 east. I do not expect Jim H to stay longer the 3-5 years. Me thinks, he will want to be back at the NFL. He had good success there vs Saban, Carroll (first time), Spurrier, Riley (ok, I am drinking some aryl Kool-aid) and a few others from the collegiate level.

It has to be an exciting time to be a Wolverine until you get that first bill for next year's season tickets.

its official. boosters have been told. its all over espn. its official.

  5. Did anyone listen to McKewon on the radio today? He made a very strong point that applies directly to this. He said that he's become very aware of how Bo recruited and his tactics. These kids are not committed to Nebraska and never were. They are committed to Bo Pelini. There is strong evidence of this. It goes hand in hand with the team mindset of "us vs them". He said that a lot of people will view it as Riley dropping the ball with these kids and that's not fair to him. These kids were never committed to Nebraska. The recruits that Riley does retain, are attribute to him "re" recruiting these kids.

I understand the people who are happy about this hire

I understand the people that are upset about this hire

I understand the people that are saying "wait and see"

I think what a lot of us are a bit worried about is that because this coaches from Oregon State moved 1,500 miles east it doesn't mean that they are all of a sudden going to be better than they were back in Corvallis.

Why do I think they'll do better? Because it won't be stubborn Bo leading and Beck and Paps won't be here. Bam! Better already.

you misunderstood the question. he said... what makes you think that the same coaching staff will move to lincoln and all of a sudden do better? especially if they don't change the way they recruit. it has nothing to do with bo and our previous coaching staff.

  7. I think what a lot of us are a bit worried about is that because this coaches from Oregon State moved 1,500 miles east it doesn't mean that they are all of a sudden going to be better than they were back in Corvallis.

Lots of people have said "Do you think Bo and his staff would do better than 5-7 in the Pac 12 at OSU this last year?" Okay, how about we agree that, no, he would not have done better.

So, with that, what makes you think that the new staff will do better than 9-3 here?

Exactly. It was one thing when he was hired. Okay, fine.. Bring in talented coaches and recruit your tail off. So far he only has one coach who is nothing new from or state, and his first recruit is a guy who was recruited by a mediocre Oregon state. This thing isn't starting off on a great foot.

  8. Trust him to put a staff together. Geeze, some of you whine more than my 3 year old daughter.

So far this is what we have...

We just hired Oregon States head coach. His first assistant is a guy moving over from Oregon state. Now we find out that his first recruit is a linebacker who was commited to Oregon state (who is apparently ecstatic about the new turn of events). This is not at all how I envisioned this thing going. We're slowly turning into Oregon state, only with more fans.
