  1. I had a chance to meet her while she was in town today.

She had an incredible message to share, and I'm hopeful she could be an X factor in helping to change the culture on college campuses, and nationwide

Focusing on campuses and athletes, though - the culture needs to be that sexual assaults are NOT, and never will be, acceptable.

Her son has actually written a letter to the NCAA about banning violent athletes from competitive sports - her son even garnered a response and has a petition going on change.org.

I think Perlman and Osborne can share a lot of the blame for what is ailing Husker sports right now. Especially in men's sports.

Osborne? But, not SPEM? Or, Ickyhorst?

Wow! So much appreciation for Osborne, who got the task of cleaning up Prickman's original mess, Yet got cut out of the process which could have prevented Prickman from making yet another sorry decision.

The nicknames are as obnoxious as hell. Cut it out.

They are typically used when someone isn't articulate enough to express their opinions. So, they think calling someone a name is an insult enough to get their point across.

So that's why you do it.

  3. Good stat during the game:

NFL teams, NBA teams and NHL teams with losing records in the playoffs

Don't watch the games, and they won't schedule 40 anymore.

Personally I enjoyed watching these games

And the 5-7 teams are 2-0 so far, with Minnesota still to play.

    :thumbs

How would you feel if UCLA runs our team out of Santa Clara like a Wisconsin beatdown? Would the extra practices make it worthwhile?

Yes. It gets us closer to change.

No it doesn't. 2015 has already been chalked up as a loss and one more loss in a meaningless bowl game doesn't change anything. Riley will be around through at least 2017 barring something crazy like an 0-12 record in 2016.

It absolutely does. If we get embarrassed is not like we will forget about it next year. Look at bo. People kept a running count of his books outs. Plus the one thing Riley has done has been competitive even in big games.

I don't want Riley fired....right now at least

well they won. very good game.

    what change?

Older guy here, and alum. My user name reflects the fact I first became a Husker fan sitting on my grandpa's knee, listening to Husker games in he early/mid 60s...and remember hearing folks saying thing that made me think they were happy to have a winning season. So I remember both sets of glory years...the two in the 70s and those in the 90s. But I became a "love it to the core, this team is, and always will be MY team with the deflected two point try in the 83 orange bowl. I was a big fan of the stability and longevity of the entire coaching staff in those days as much as I was of the actual team on the field. It was all part of one program.

As for Frost, I'll echo what a lot of folks have said already. It is good to see him get some experience at a place other than Nebraska. A young coach like him, if successful at his first gig, is going to be a hot commodity, and want to leverage that spotlight to "take a step up". I think it would be ideal for us to have Riley for another 3 years, maybe 4 (if he can pull it together and get back to having good seasons), then open the door for a successful Frost to return home. He'd have gotten the "hot shot new coach" recognition and might be less likely to bolt in 2 - 3 years if he does well at NU. Maybe then he'd have a chance to put together somewhat of a stable, long term team of coaches here as well.

One can hope. I'd take him if he shows well at UCF for the next few years.

That is an old guy's opinions.

FWIW...welcome to the board, and to the Big Red family young scholar.

You are missing the point Grandpa. If and probably when he is successful in florida. I seriously doubt he will becoming here, he will be getting better offers than us. Be realistic

and not a homer, why would he? Really why would he

Simply because he won a natty here silly. I ran with Scott in track in high school and he loves the state, the people, and is a HUGE husker fan. You want to know why he'd come here, look no further than that.

How about this" Show me the money" that might be the fly in the ointment. I am stunned how people think we are still some destination job. Guess what we ain't and every yr. we get just a little bit smaller on the national scene.

Stunned that some people think this is not a destination job.

    1. One of the all-time winningest programs " Do you think that carries much weight when we haven't won anything that matters in far too long? No top 10 rankings, ass beatings on TV "

    2. State-of-the-art facilities " We are far from alone in this"

    3. Pay check that will be in the millions and comparable to other big time programs " I am not sure but I don't think we are even in the top 15-20 of salaries paid"

    4. Rabid fan-base that has sold out every single game for a half-century " Do you really think this is that much of a draw? really! "

Ya haven't ya noticed how people have been lining up for this "Destination" job

we don't have a job opening for people to line up for. So, no we wouldn't have people lining up for this.

  7.

You guys should really consider writing some of this down so we don't have to go over it again and again.

No body with any brains thinks Scott is qualified to come here from Oregon. See what he can do elsewhere first.

New first time head coaches at Nebraska in the last 50 years:

    Tom Osborne - .836

    Frank Solich - .753

    Bo Pelini - .713

New "experienced" coaches at Nebraska in the last 50 years:

    Bill Callahan - .551

    Mike Riley - .417

Quit using your facts to prove a point. We perfer the use of speculative fiction around here.

    What facts would that be.

Eichorst should get Banker a HC job somewhere and make a power play for Bud Foster to replace him.

    Foster is staying at VT.

Money talks, make it happen SE.

It's not a matter of money, it's a matter of Riley letting people go. Ain't gonna happen.

Eichorst can force his hand. He could push Banker into a low end HC job somehwere.

It likely wont happen, just wish we could go out and make a big hire like Foster to at least show we are patching the leaks.

Eichorst said he wasn't going to do that with Bo, doubt he'd do it with Riley. If it gets to the point where coaches are being told by AD who they can and can't hire, you've ruined any productive relationship. At that point you have a Jason Garrett-Jerry Jones relationship where you're playing yes man.

I don't see how Eichorst could push Banker into a HC job. He isn't taking a FCS job and I don't see a FBS program to take him.

As far as an AD and staffing goes I think you need to straighten that stuff out before the hire. We are one of the top 5 winningest programs in CFB. We should be pulling in the top staff we can get period, not hiring all your cronies then filling-in around that. You figure-out staffing philosophy and who the HC would definitely bring in before making the offer.

Also, when staffing comes up once a coach is in place I'm OK with a little pushing provided the AD is also putting his money where his mouth is. From what I've heard Eichorst didn't push staffing changes but they were on the table only to be taken off because the wallet wasn't really opening. Our secondary coaches repeatedly being stolen seems to support that. Hopefully Eichorst will be more flexible now that he has his coach in place and it's his job on the line

f'ing amazing how f'ing restarted this is. you all just stop. please.

  9.

No, none of the interceptions today were the coaches fault.

Not true. Riley and Langsdorf had AN ENTIRE SEASON to either improve Armstrong or develop a viable alternative...and this game was the culmination of their time and efforts with Armstrong and the alternatives.

Enjoy the warm afterglow of the result.

what????????? for the love of god.

I pray we get lucky and make a bowl. Seniors deserve it.

Serious question. Not being a smart ass. Why do they deserve a bowl game? Because they've been here 4 years? Because why?

I hate to be hard on them but they haven't earned and don't deserve anything. A lot of that is on the coaches but a lot of it is on unmotivated play of the players. Sorry but I don't want to see this edition of the Huskers on the field again. We need to concentrate on getting a better version on the field next year. Much better.

So many people on HB laughed and scoffed when, in seasons past, a 5-7 team made it to a bowl game. Some were pissed. Now that WE are the 5-7 team, it's a great idea to go to a bowl game. My vote is no. We didn't earn it.
I'd prefer not to watch Tommy embarrass us again this year.

Nothing less than your posting :leghump:

The emails are just another channel for those Husker fans who choose to do so to "voice" their displeasure with the product Riley is producing.

They join the chorus of people who clog every Comments section on the internet with angry anonymous diatribes having little to do with the subject at hand, and everything to do with the smallness of their lives.

They are Nebraska fans who are tired of seeing our great program destroyed by incompetence at the highest level of the program.

They have the common sense to know to go to the source of the problems.

Your comment about the "smallness of their lives" could apply to all who comment here... including you (with 3,380 comments). I guess your life must be pretty small.

Common sense has nothing to do with these emails.

    Just as I suspected...

Very few of the comments in the emails were over the top... maybe 1%... a VERY SMALL percentage...

People with an agenda to silence Nebraska fans have of course as always ignored the other 99% of the comments in the emails that were respectful. heart felt and informed.

Same game playing and misrepresenting of other peoples comments as usual with these people who's agenda is to silence Nebraska fans.

Nothing more than what your doing right now.

No one is silencing or telling people not to send emails. If you chose to do so, I have every right to call it f'ing stupid but by all means continue to do so.
